< Jeremiah 10 >

1 Hear ye the word which Yahweh hath spoken unto you, O house of Israel: —
Aw Israel imthung takoh, Angraeng mah thuih ih lok to tahngai oh,
2 Thus, saith Yahweh—Unto the way of the nations, become not ye accustomed, Nor at the signs of the heavens, be ye dismayed, —Because the nations are dismayed at them.
Angraeng mah hae tiah thuih; Sithaw panoek ai kaminawk ih tuinuen to amtuk o hmah, van ah kaom Sithaw panoek ai kaminawk mah zit o ih, angmathaih doeh zii o hmah.
3 For as for the prescribed customs of the peoples, vanity, they are, —For a tree out of the forest, one cutteth down, Work for the hands of a skilled workman with the axe:
Kaminawk ih khosakhaih tuinuen loe azom pui ni; kami maeto mah taw ah thing to pakhruk, bantok sak kop kami mah, caka hoiah a khuek moe, krang to a sak,
4 With silver and with gold, he decketh it, —With nails and with hammers, they fasten them, that it may not totter.
to krang to sui maw, sumkanglung hoiah maw pathoep het; angthuih thaih han ai ah, sumdik hoiah takhing o caeng.
5 Mere palm-trunks turned, they are and cannot speak, They must needs be, carried, for they cannot take a step, Be not afraid of them, for they cannot do harm, And even to do good, is not in their power.
To krangnawk loe ungsikung baktiah cak o, lok apae o thai ai; angmah koeh ah caeh thai ai, phawh han angaih. To krangnawk to zii o hmah; nihcae loe kasae hmuen sah o thai ai, kahoih hmuen doeh sah o thai ai.
6 None, there is, like unto thee, O Yahweh, —Great, art, thou, And, great, is thy Name, for might.
Aw Angraeng, nang hoi kanghmong mi doeh om ai; nang loe na lensawk, na hmin loe lensawk moe, thacak.
7 Who would not revere thee, O King of nations? For, thee, doth it beseem; Forasmuch as among all the wise men of the nations And throughout all their royal estate, None, there is like unto thee.
Aw kaminawk boih ih Siangpahrang, nang loe zit han krak, kaminawk boih hoi prae thung boih ah, nang hoi kanghmong palungha kami mi doeh om ai.
8 But at once, do they become brutish and stupid, —An example of utmost vanity, is, a tree!
Nihcae loe panoekhaih tawn o ai, amthu o boih; nihcae loe tidoeh avang ai thing hoiah sak ih krang mah ni patuk lat.
9 Silver spread into plates, from Tarshish is brought, And gold, from Uphaz, Work for the craftsman and for the hands of the smith, —Blue and purple, is their clothing, Work for the skilled, are they all.
Krang loe thing tok sah kop kami hoi sum daeng thaih kami mah ni ban hoiah sak. Sumkanglung tui pazut ih sabaenawk loe Tarshish hoiah sinh o, sui loe Uphaz hoi ah sinh o; rong kahing hoi kamling hoiah krang to khuk o; to hmuennawk boih loe bantok sah kop kaminawk mah ni sak o.
10 But, Yahweh, is God in truth, He, is a God that, liveth, And a King of times age-abiding, —At his anger, quaketh the earth, And nations cannot endure his wrath.
Toe Angraeng loe Sithaw tangtang ah oh, Anih loe kahing Sithaw, dungzan siangpahrang ah oh; Anih palungphui naah long to anghuenh, prae kaminawk boih mah anih palungphuihaih pauep o thai ai.
11 Thus, shall ye say unto them, The gods that made not the heavens, And the earth, Shall perish out of the earth, And from under these heavens!
Nihcae khaeah, Long hoi vannawk sah thai ai sithawnawk loe, hae vannawk tlim ih, long hoiah anghma angtaa o tih, tiah thui paeh, tiah ang naa.
12 He that made the earth by his power, That established the world by his wisdom, —And by his understanding stretched out the heavens,
Sithaw loe a thacakhaih hoiah long to sak; palung a hahaih hoiah long hae a caksak moe, a kophaih hoiah van to kakawk ah payuengh boeh.
13 At the voice that he uttered, there was a tumult of waters in the heavens, And he caused vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth, —The lightnings for rain, he made, And brought forth wind out of his treasuries.
A lok pathok naah, van ah pop parai tuinawk to oh; long boenghaih hoiah tamai to amzamsak tahang, kho angzosak moe, tangphra doeh a pueksak; hmuenmae suekhaih im hoiah takhi to a songsak.
14 Every son of earth hath become too brutish to discern, Every goldsmith, hath been put to shame by a graven image, —For a falsehood, is his molten image, Seeing there is no breath in them.
Kaminawk loe amthu o boih moe, panoekhaih tawn o ai; krang sah kaminawk loe krang hoiah azathaih tongh o boeh; a sak o ih krangnawk loe azom pui ni; anghahhaih takhi doeh tawn o ai.
15 Vanity, they are, the handiwork of mockeries, —In the time of their visitation, shall they perish.
To krangnawk loe azom pui ni; alinghaih hmuen ah ni oh o; lokcaekhaih ani phak naah loe anghma o boih tih.
16 Not like these, is the portion of Jacob, For the fashioner of all things, is, he, And, Israel, is his inherited sceptre, —Yahweh of hosts, is his name.
Jakob ih taham loe nihcae hoi anghmong ai; anih loe hmuennawk boih sahkung ah oh, Israel caanawk loe angmah ih qawktoep acaeng ah oh o moe, ahmin loe misatuh Angraeng, tiah oh.
17 Fold up, from the ground thy travelling carpet, —O inhabitress of the fortress;
Misa abuephaih long khaw thungah kaom kami, prae thung hoiah hmuennawk to pakhueng o boih ah.
18 For, thus, saith Yahweh, Behold me! slinging out the inhabitants of the land at this throw, —And I will distress them that they may discover it.
Angraeng mah hae tiah thuih; Khenah, prae thungah kaom kaminawk to vaihi roe ka vah han; misanawk ban ah phak o thai hanah, raihaih ka phaksak han.
19 Woe to me! for my grievous injury, Severe, is my wound, —But, I, said, Verily, this, is an affliction and I must bear it:
Ahmaa ka caak pongah khosak bing! Kai ih ahmaa loe nung parai; toe ka tong ih raihaih to ka pauep nganga han, tiah ka thuih.
20 My tent, is laid waste, And all my tent-cords, are broken, —My children, are gone forth from me and they, are not. There is none, To stretch out any more my tent, Or to set up my curtains.
Kai ih kahni im loe amro boeh; kai ih quinawk doeh apet boih boeh; ka caanawk doeh kai khae hoi tacawt o boih boeh, maeto doeh om o ai boeh; kai ih kalen kahni im to payuengh moe, kai ih imkhaan pakaahaih sak hanah kami maeto doeh om ai boeh.
21 For the shepherds, have become brutish, And Yahweh, have they not sought, —For this cause, have they not prospered, And, all their flock, is scattered.
Tuucaa zaehoikungnawk doeh panoekhaih tawn o ai, Angraeng to pakrong o ai; to pongah khosak hoih o mak ai, anih ih tuunawk loe amhet o phang tih.
22 The noise of a rumour! lo it hath come! Even a great commotion out of the land of the North, —To make the cities of Judah, A desolation, A den of jackals.
Khenah, thaisakhaih lok phak boeh, Judah ih vangpuinawk to amrosak boeh moe, tasui ih akhaw ah angcoengsak hanah aluek bang prae hoiah kalen parai atuen to tacawt boeh.
23 I know O Yahweh, That not to a son of earth, pertaineth his own path, —Not, to the man who walketh, also to direct his own steps.
Aw Angraeng, kami hinghaih loe angmah ih na ai ni; a caehhaih khok tangkannawk doeh lam patuek thai ai, tiah ka panoek.
24 Chastise me, O Yahweh But yet in measure, —Not in thine anger, lest thou make me few.
Angraeng, palungphuihaih hoi na ai ah, toenghaih hoiah mah na thuitaek ah; to tih ai nahaeloe azom pui ah ni ka om tih boeh.
25 Pour out thy wrath—Upon the nations that know thee not, and Upon the families that, upon thy Name, have not called, —For they have devoured Jacob Yea they have devoured him and consumed him, And, his habitation, have they made desolate.
Nang panoek ai, Gentel kaminawk hoi na hmin kawk ai imthung takohnawk nuiah palung na phuihaih to krai ah; nihcae mah Jakob to caak o boih boeh, anih to amro o sak moe, paaeh o boih boeh; a ohhaih ahmuen doeh phraek pae o boih boeh.
