< James 2 >

1 My brethren, do not, with respect for persons, be holding the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, [the Lord] of glory.
Ry rahalahiko, aoka tsy hasiana fizahan-tavan’ olona ny finoanareo ny Tompontsika, dia Jesosy Kristy, Tompon’ ny voninahitra.
2 For, if there enter into your synagogue a man wearing gold rings in gay clothing, and there enter a destitute man also, in soiled clothing, —
Fa raha misy olona miditra eo amin’ ny synagoganareo misy peratra volamena amin’ ny rantsan-tànany sady miakanjo tsara, ary mba miditra kosa izay olona malahelo miakanjo ratsy,
3 And ye eye him that hath on the gay clothing, and say, Thou, be sitting here, pleasantly, —and, unto the destitute man, say—Thou, stand, or sit there under my footstool,
koa mijery ilay miakanjo tsara ianareo ka manao hoe: Mipetraha eto amin’ ny fitoerana aloha ianao; ary manao amin’ ilay malahelo kosa hoe: Mitoera eroa ianao, na: Mipetraha etsy amin’ ny fitoeran-tongotro, ―
4 Would ye not have been led to make distinctions among yourselves, and have become judges with wicked reasonings?
moa tsy miangatra va ianareo amin’ izany ka efa mpitsara manan-kevi-dratsy?
5 Hearken! my brethren beloved: —Hath not, God, chosen the destitute in the world [to be] rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him?
Mihainoa, ry rahalahy malalako: Tsy efa nofidin’ Andriamanitra va ny malahelo amin’ izao fiainana izao ho mpanankarena amin’ ny finoana sy ho mpandova ny fanjakana nolazainy homena izay tia Azy?
6 Whereas, ye, have dishonoured the destitute man! Do not, the rich, oppress you? and, themselves, drag you into courts of justice?
Fa ianareo efa nanala-baraka ny malahelo. Moa tsy ny mpanankarena va no mampahory anareo? Ary tsy izy va no mitarika anareo ho eo amin’ ny fitsarana?
7 Do not, they, defame the noble name which hath been invoked upon you?
Tsy izy koa va no miteny ratsy ny anarana tsara izay niantsoana anareo?
8 If ye are, indeed, fulfilling, a royal law, according to the scripture—Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, nobly, are ye doing;
Kanefa raha mankatò ilay didy ambony indrindra ianareo, araka ny Soratra Masìna hoe: “Tiava ny namanao tahaka ny tenanao”, dia manao tsara ianareo.
9 But, if ye are shewing respect of persons, sin, are ye working, being convicted by the law as transgressors!
Fa raha mizaha tavan’ olona kosa ianareo, dia manota ka helohin’ ny lalàna ho mpanota.
10 For, a man who shall keep, the whole law, but shall stumble in one thing, hath become, for all things, liable, —
Fa na iza na iza mitandrina ny lalàna rehetra, nefa diso amin’ ny iray loha dia meloka amin’ izy rehetra.
11 For, he that hath said—Do not commit adultery, hath also said—Do not commit murder, —now, if thou dost not commit adultery, but dost commit murder, thou hast become a transgressor of law.
Fa Ilay nanao hoe: “Aza mijangajanga” no nanao hoe koa: “Aza mamono olona”. Fa raha tahìny tsy mijangajanga ianao, kanefa mamono olona ihany, dia mpandika ny lalàna ianao.
12 So, be speaking, and, so, doing, as they who, through means of a law of freedom, are about to be judged;
Aoka ianareo hiteny sy hanao araka izay mahamendrika anareo, izay olona hotsarain’ ny lalàn’ ny fahafahana.
13 For, the judgment, [will be] without mercy, unto him that hath shewed no mercy: Mercy, boasteth, over judgment.
Fa fitsarana tsy misy famindram-po no ho anjaran’ izay tsy mamindra fo; ary ny famindram-po kosa dia faly, fa tsy mba matahotra ny fitsarana.
14 What profit, my brethren, —if one should be saying he hath, faith, but hath not, works; can his faith save him?
Inona moa no soa azo, ry rahalahiko, raha misy milaza fa manam-pinoana izy, nefa tsy manana asa? Ny finoana va mahavonjy azy?
15 If, a brother or sister, should be naked, and coming short of the daily food,
Raha misy rahalahy na anabavy tsy manan-kitafy sady tsy manan-kohanina isan’ andro,
16 And one from among you should say unto them—Withdraw in peace, be getting warmed and fed, but should not give them the things needful for the body, What the profit?
ka misy aminareo manao aminy hoe: Mandehana amin’ ny fiadanana, mamindroa, mivokisa, kanefa tsy omenareo azy tsinona izay tandrifiny ho an’ ny tenany, inona moa no soa azo amin’ izany?
17 So, also, faith, if it have not works, is dead, by itself.
Ary mba toy izany koa ny finoana, raha tsy misy asa, dia maty mihitsy.
18 But one will say, —Thou, hast faith, and, I, have works, show me thy faith apart from thy works, and, I, unto thee, will shew, by my works, my faith.
Fa angamba hisy hanao hoe: Hianao manam-pinoana, ary izaho manana asa; asehoy amiko tsy amin’ ny asa ny finoanao, ary izaho kosa haneho aminao ny finoako amin’ ny asako.
19 Thou believest that God is, one: thou doest, well—Even the demons believe, and shudder!
Hianao manao fa iray ihany no Andriamanitra; koa tsara izany ataonao izany, ― ny demonia koa mba mino izany ka dia mangovitra.
20 But art thou willing to learn, O empty man! that, faith, apart from works, is, idle?
Moa tsy fantatrao va, ry olom-poana, fa tsy vanona ny finoana tsy misy asa?
21 Abraham our father, was it not, by works, he was declared righteous—when he offered Isaac his son upon the altar?
Tsy nohamarinina tamin’ ny asa va Abrahama razantsika tamin’ ny nanaterany an’ isaka zanany teo ambonin’ ny alitara?
22 Thou seest that, his faith, had been working together with his works, and by his works did his faith become full-grown, —
Hitanao fa niara-niasa tamin’ ny finoana ny asany, ary ny finoana dia notanterahina tamin’ ny asa;
23 And the scripture was fulfilled which saith—And Abraham believed God, And it was reckoned to him as righteousness, and, God’s friend, was he called:
ary tanteraka ny Soratra Masìna manao hoe: “Ary Abrahama nino an’ Andriamanitra, ka nisaina ho fahamarinany izany”, ary natao hoe “Sakaizan’ Andriamanitra” izy.
24 Ye see that—by works, a man is declared righteous, and not by faith alone.
Koa dia hitanareo fa hamarinina amin’ ny asa ny olona, fa tsy amin’ ny finoana ihany.
25 And, in like manner also, Rahab the harlot, Was it not, by works, she was declared righteous, when she gave welcome unto the messengers, and, by another way, urged them forth?
Ary toy izany koa Rahaba janga, tsy nohamarinina tamin’ ny asa va izy tamin’ ny nandraisany ireny iraka ireny sy ny nampandehanany azy tamin’ ny lalan-kafa?
26 Just as, the body, apart from spirit, is dead, so, our faith also, apart from works, is dead.
Fa maty ny tena, raha tsy misy fanahy, ary maty toy izany koa ny finoana, raha tsy misy asa.
