< Isaiah 64 >

1 Would that thou hadst rent the heavens, hadst come down,
Atĩrĩrĩ, naarĩ korwo watarũranga matu ũikũrũke gũkũ thĩ, nĩguo irĩma ithingithe irĩ mbere yaku!
2 At thy presence, had mountains, quaked: As fire kindleth brushwood, [As] fire causeth, water, to boil, So if thou wouldst make known thy Name to thine adversaries, At thy presence, nations, would tremble.
O ta ũrĩa mwaki ũmundagia thari ikarĩrĩmbũka, na ũgatũma maaĩ matherũke-rĩ, ikũrũka thĩ ũtũme rĩĩtwa rĩaku rĩmenywo nĩ thũ ciaku, na ũtũme ndũrĩrĩ ciinaine irĩ mbere yaku!
3 When thou didst fearful things we could not expect, Thou camest down at thy presence, mountains, quaked.
Nĩgũkorwo hĩndĩ ĩrĩa Wee wekire maũndũ ma kũmakania marĩa tũteerĩgĩrĩire-rĩ, nĩwaikũrũkire, nacio irĩma igĩthingitha irĩ mbere yaku.
4 Although from age-past times It was never heard, It was not perceived by the ear, —Neither did, the eye, ever see—That, a god besides thee, could work for the man who waited for him,
Kuuma o tene gũtirĩ mũndũ o na ũmwe ũrĩ waigua maũndũ ta macio, na gũtirĩ gũtũ kũrĩ kwaigua ũhoro ta ũcio, o na kana riitho rĩkĩona Ngai ũngĩ tawe, ũrĩa wĩkaga maũndũ nĩ ũndũ wa andũ arĩa maikaraga mamwetereire.
5 Yet didst thou meet Him who was rejoicing and working righteousness, Even them who in thy ways, remembered thee, —Lo! thou, hast been vexed, And truly we had sinned, Among them, was the prospect of an age [to come], That we might be saved.
Wee ũũkaga gũteithia andũ arĩa mekaga maũndũ marĩa magĩrĩire makenete, o acio maririkanaga njĩra ciaku. No rĩrĩa twagire gũcirũmĩrĩra tũgĩthiĩ na mbere na kwĩhia-rĩ, wee nĩwarakarire. Ithuĩ-rĩ, tũngĩkĩhonoka atĩa?
6 But we have become as one unclean all of us, And, as a garment polluted, were all our righteous doings, —And so we faded like a leaf all of us, And, our iniquity, as a wind, carried us away;
Ithuothe tũtuĩkĩte ta mũndũ ũrĩ na thaahu, na ciĩko ciothe cia ũthingu witũ ihaana ta ndangari irĩ magigi; ithuothe tũhohaga tũkahaana ta ithangũ, namo mehia maitũ magatũhuruta o ta ũrĩa rũhuho rũhuruutaga maragara.
7 And there was none To call upon thy Name, To rouse himself to lay firm hold on thee, —For thou hadst hidden thy face from us, And hadst made us despond, by means of our iniquity.
Gũtirĩ mũndũ o na ũmwe ũkayagĩra rĩĩtwa rĩaku, kana akageria anyiitane nawe; nĩgũkorwo nĩũtũhithĩte ũthiũ waku, ũgagĩtũma tũhinyĩrĩrĩke nĩ ũndũ wa mehia maitũ.
8 But, now, O Yahweh, our father, thou art, —We are the clay, and, thou, art our potter, Yea the work of thy hand, are we all:
No rĩrĩ, Wee Jehova, wee nĩwe ithe witũ. Ithuĩ tũrĩ rĩũmba, nawe nĩwe mũtũũmbi; ithuothe tũrĩ wĩra wa moko maku.
9 Do not be indignant, O Yahweh so very greatly, Neither perpetually, do thou recall iniquity, —Lo! look around, we pray thee…thy people, are, we all.
Wee Jehova-rĩ, tiga gũtũrakarĩra mũno makĩria, o na kana ũtũũre ũririkanaga mehia maitũ. Na rĩrĩ, ta tũrore twagũthaitha, wone atĩ ithuothe tũrĩ andũ aku.
10 Thy holy cities, have become a wilderness, —Zion, a wilderness, hath become, Jerusalem, a desolation!
Matũũra maku marĩa manene maamũre nĩmatuĩkĩte werũ; o na itũũra rĩa Zayuni rĩtuĩkĩte werũ, narĩo itũũra rĩa Jerusalemu rĩgakira ihooru.
11 Our holy and our beautiful house Where our fathers praised thee, Hath become a conflagration, —And, all our delightful places, are in ruins!
Hekarũ iitũ ĩrĩa nyamũre na ĩrĩ riiri, kũrĩa maithe maitũ maakũgoocagĩra, nĩĩcinĩtwo na mwaki, nacio indo ciitũ ciothe iria irĩ bata nĩcianangĩtwo.
12 In view of these things, wilt thou restrain thyself. O Yahweh? Wilt thou hold thy peace and humble us so very greatly?
Thuutha wa maũndũ macio mothe, Wee Jehova-rĩ, anga nĩũgũtũtiganĩria, wage gũtũteithia? Ũgũkira o ro ũguo na ũkĩrĩrĩrie gũtũherithia makĩria?
