< Isaiah 48 >

1 Hear ye this—O house of Jacob, Ye who call yourselves by the name of Israel, Yea from the waters of Judah, came they forth, —Who swear by the name of Yahweh, And, by the God of Israel, call to remembrance—Not in truth, nor in righteousness;
“Fanongo ki he meʻa ni, ʻE fale ʻo Sēkope, ʻa koe ʻoku ui ʻaki ʻae hingoa ʻo ʻIsileli, pea kuo haʻu mei he ngaahi matavai ʻo Siuta, ʻakimoutolu ʻoku fuakava ʻi he huafa ʻo Sihova, pea lea ki he ʻOtua ʻo ʻIsileli, ka ʻoku ʻikai ʻi he moʻoni, pe ʻi he māʻoniʻoni.
2 For of the holy city, do they call themselves, And on the God of Israel, do they stay themselves, —Yahweh of hosts, is his name.
He ʻoku nau lau ʻoku nau ʻoe kolo māʻoniʻoni, pea faʻaki ʻakinautolu ki he ʻOtua ʻo ʻIsileli; ko hono huafa ko Sihova ʻoe ngaahi kautau.
3 Things in advance, of old, I declared, Yea out of mine own mouth, came they forth, that I might let them be known, —Suddenly, I wrought and they came to pass.
Kuo u fakahā ʻae ngaahi meʻa muʻa mei he kamataʻanga; pea naʻa nau ʻalu atu mei hoku fofonga, pea ne u fakahā ia; naʻaku fai fakafokifā ia, pea hoko ia.
4 Because I knew that—Obstinate, thou wast, —And, a sinew of iron, was thy neck, And thy brow, brazen,
Koeʻuhi naʻaku ʻilo ʻoku ke paongataʻa, pea ko e uoua ukamea ho kia, pea palasa ho foʻi laʻē;
5 therefore told I thee—in time past, Ere yet it came, I let thee hear, —Lest thou shouldest say Mine idol wrought them, Yea, my carved image and my molten image, commanded them!
Kuo u fakahā ia kiate koe mei he kamataʻanga; ʻi he teʻeki ai hoko ia naʻaku fakahā ia kiate koe: telia naʻa ke pehē, ‘Kuo fai ʻe heʻeku tamapua, ʻae ngaahi meʻa ko ia, mo ʻeku tamapua kuo tongi, mo ʻeku tamapua kuo haka kuo fekau ki ai.’
6 Thou hast heard—see it whole, And will, ye, not tell? I have let thee hear new things—from the present time, Even secrets which ye knew not.
Kuo ke tomuʻa fanongo, pea vakai kuo hoko ʻae meʻa ni kotoa pē; pea ʻe ʻikai te ke fakahā ia? “Kuo u fakahā atu mei he kuonga ni, ʻae ngaahi meʻa foʻou, ʻio, ʻae ngaahi meʻa lilo, pea naʻe ʻikai te ke ʻilo ki ai.
7 Now, are they created, and not in time past, And, before to-day, thou hadst not heard of them, —Lest thou shouldest say, Lo! I knew them!
‌ʻOku fakatupu ni ia, kae ʻikai mei he kamataʻanga; ʻio, ʻi muʻaange ʻi he ʻaho ʻaia naʻe ʻikai te ke fanongo ki ai, telia naʻa ke pehē, “Vakai, naʻaku ʻilo ia.”
8 Nay! thou hadst not heard, Nay! thou hadst not known, Nay! in time past, thine ear, was not opened, —For I knew that thou, wouldst be treacherous, Yea a transgressor from birth, hast thou been called.
Ko e moʻoni naʻe ʻikai te ke fanongo, ʻio, naʻe ʻikai te ke ʻilo; ʻio, mei he kuonga ko ia naʻe ʻikai ke fakaava ho telinga: he naʻaku ʻilo te ke fai kākā lahi, pea naʻe ui koe ko e maumau fono mei he manāva.
9 For the sake of mine own Name, will I defer mine anger, And for my praise, will I restrain myself towards thee, —So as not to cut thee off.
Koeʻuhi ko hoku huafa te u taʻofi hoku houhau, pea koeʻuhi ko ʻeku ongoongolelei te u taʻofi au meiate koe, ke ʻoua naʻaku tuʻusi ʻaupito koe.
10 Lo! I have refined thee, but not as silver, —I have tested thee, in a smelting-pot of affliction.
Vakai; kuo u fakamaʻa koe, kae ʻikai ʻaki ʻae siliva; kuo u fili koe mei he afi ʻoe mamahi.
11 For mine own sake—for mine own sake, will I effectually work For how should it be profaned? And, my glory—to another, will I not give.
Koeʻuhi ko au, ʻio, koeʻuhi ko au, te u fai ia: he ko e hā ʻe fakalielia ai ʻa hoku huafa? Pea ʻe ʻikai te u foaki hoku nāunau ki ha tokotaha kehe.
12 Hearken unto me O Jacob, And Israel, my called one, —I, am, the Same I, the first, yea, I, the last:
“Fanongo kiate au, ʻe Sēkope pea mo ʻIsileli, ʻa koe kuo u ui; ko au ia; ko au ko e ʻuluaki, pea ko au foki ko e kimui.
13 Surely, mine own hand, founded the earth, And, my right hand, stretched out the heavens, —While I was calling unto them, they stood forth, at once
Kuo ʻai ʻe hoku nima ʻae tuʻunga ʻo māmani, pea kuo u hanga ʻae ngaahi langi ʻaki hoku nima toʻomataʻu: ʻo kau ka ui ki ai, ʻoku nau tuʻu hake fakataha.
14 Assemble yourselves—all of you and hear, Who among them, hath told these things? he whom Yahweh loveth, will execute—His pleasure, on Babylon, And his stroke on the Chaldeans.
“Mou fakataha, ʻakimoutolu kotoa pē, pea fanongo; ko hai ʻiate kinautolu kuo ne fakahā ʻae ngaahi meʻa ui? Kuo ʻofa ʻa Sihova kiate ia: te ne fai ʻene faʻiteliha ki Papilone, pea ʻe ʻi he kakai Kalitia ʻa hono nima.
15 I—I, have spoken, Yea I have called him, —I have brought him in, and he shall make prosperous his way.
Ko au, ʻio, ko au, kuo u folofola; kuo u ui kiate ia: kuo u ʻomi ia, pea te ne ngaohi ke lelei hono hala.
16 Draw ye near unto me—hear ye this, Not in advance in secret, have I spoken, From the very time it cometh into being, there, am I, —And, now, My Lord Yahweh hath sent me and his spirit.
“Mou haʻu ke ofi kiate au, fanongo ki he meʻa ni; “talu ʻae kamataʻanga naʻe ʻikai te u lea ʻi he lilo; talu ʻae kuonga naʻe ʻi ai ia, ʻoku ʻi ai au.” Pea ko e ʻEiki ko Sihova, mo hono Laumālie, kuo na fekau au.
17 Thus saith Yahweh—Thy Redeemer, The Holy One of Israel, —I—Yahweh, am thy God, Teaching thee to profit, Guiding thee in the way thou shouldest go.
‌ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova, ko ho Huhuʻi, ko e tokotaha māʻoniʻoni ʻo ʻIsileli; “Ko au ko Sihova ko ho ʻOtua, ʻaia ʻoku akonakiʻi koe ke ʻaonga, pea ko ia ʻoku tataki koe ʻi he hala ʻoku totonu ke ke ʻalu ai.
18 Oh! that thou hadst hearkened to my commandments, —Then had been, like a river, thy prosperity, And, thy righteousness, like the waves of the sea:
‌ʻAmusiaange ʻe au kuo ke tokanga ki heʻeku ngaahi fekau! Ka ne pehē kuo hangē ko e vaitafe hoʻo fiemālie, pea tatau hoʻo māʻoniʻoni mo e ngaahi peau ʻoe tahi:
19 Then had been, like the sand, thy seed, And, the offspring of thy body, like the grains thereof, —Neither cut off nor destroyed had been his name from before me.
Pea ko ho hako foki kuo hangē ko e ʻoneʻone, pea ko e fua ʻo ho manāva ʻo hangē ko e kilikili ʻoe matātahi; pea ʻe ʻikai tuʻusi pe fakaʻauha hono hingoa mei hoku ʻao.
20 Come ye forth out of Babylon, Flee from among the Chaldeans, With triumphant voice, tell ye—let this be heard, Let it go forth as far as the end of the earth, —Say ye—Yahweh hath redeemed his servant Jacob!
‌ʻAlu atu ʻakimoutolu mei Papilone, mou hola mei he kakai Kalitia, mou fakahā ʻaki ʻae lea ʻoe hiva, tala ʻae meʻa ni, lea ʻaki ia ʻo aʻu ki he ngataʻanga ʻo māmani; mou pehē, “Kuo huhuʻi ʻe Sihova ʻa ʻene tamaioʻeiki ko Sēkope.”
21 And they thirsted not, when, through dry places, he led them, Waters out of the rock, caused he to flow out to them, —Yea be cleft a rock and, there gushed out waters:
Pea naʻe ʻikai te nau masiva inu ʻi heʻene tataki ʻakinautolu ʻi he ngaahi toafa: naʻa ne pule ke tafe atu ʻae vai mei he maka maʻanautolu: naʻa ne foaʻi ʻae maka, pea naʻe mapuna mei ai ʻae vai.
22 No well-being, saith Yahweh to the lawless,
‌ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova, “ʻoku ʻikai ha fiemālie ki he kakai angahala.”
