Isaiah 48

1 Hear ye this—O house of Jacob, Ye who call yourselves by the name of Israel, Yea from the waters of Judah, came they forth, —Who swear by the name of Yahweh, And, by the God of Israel, call to remembrance—Not in truth, nor in righteousness;

Escucha esto, oh familia de Jacob, tú, que llevas el nombre de Israel y has salido del cuerpo de Judá; que hacen juramentos por el nombre del Señor, y hacen uso del nombre del Dios de Israel, pero no verdaderamente y no de buena fe.

2 For of the holy city, do they call themselves, And on the God of Israel, do they stay themselves, —Yahweh of hosts, is his name.

Porque dicen que son del pueblo santo, y ponen su fe en el Dios de Israel, el Señor de los ejércitos es su nombre.

3 Things in advance, of old, I declared, Yea out of mine own mouth, came they forth, that I might let them be known, —Suddenly, I wrought and they came to pass.

Dije en el pasado las cosas que sucederían; salieron de mi boca, y las proclamé; de repente actué y se cumplieron.

4 Because I knew that—Obstinate, thou wast, —And, a sinew of iron, was thy neck, And thy brow, brazen,

Porque vi que tu corazón estaba duro, y que tu cuello era un tendón de hierro y tu frente de bronce;

5 therefore told I thee—in time past, Ere yet it came, I let thee hear, —Lest thou shouldest say Mine idol wrought them, Yea, my carved image and my molten image, commanded them!

Por esta razón las declare en el pasado, antes de que sucediera te las proclame, te dije que lo hicieras; por temor a que pudieras decir: Fue mi ídolo quien hizo estas cosas, mi imagen tallada y las imágenes fundidas las hicieron aparecer.

6 Thou hast heard—see it whole, And will, ye, not tell? I have let thee hear new things—from the present time, Even secrets which ye knew not.

Todo esto ha llegado a tus oídos y lo has visto; ¿No le darás testimonio? Ahora estoy haciendo cosas nuevas, incluso cosas secretas, de las que no tenías conocimiento.

7 Now, are they created, and not in time past, And, before to-day, thou hadst not heard of them, —Lest thou shouldest say, Lo! I knew them!

Solo ahora se han efectuado, y no en el pasado y antes de este día no habían llegado a tus oídos; Por temor a que pudieras decir, tenía conocimiento de ellos.

8 Nay! thou hadst not heard, Nay! thou hadst not known, Nay! in time past, thine ear, was not opened, —For I knew that thou, wouldst be treacherous, Yea a transgressor from birth, hast thou been called.

En verdad, no tenías palabra de ellos, ni conocimiento de ellos; ninguna noticia de ellos en el pasado había llegado a tus oídos; porque vi lo falso que era tu comportamiento y que tu corazón se volvió contra mí desde los primeros días.

9 For the sake of mine own Name, will I defer mine anger, And for my praise, will I restrain myself towards thee, —So as not to cut thee off.

Por mi nombre guardaré mi ira, y por mi alabanza me guardaré de destruirlos.

10 Lo! I have refined thee, but not as silver, —I have tested thee, in a smelting-pot of affliction.

Mira, te he estado probando como a mí mismo, no como a la plata; Te he hecho pasar por el fuego de la angustia.

11 For mine own sake—for mine own sake, will I effectually work For how should it be profaned? And, my glory—to another, will I not give.

Por mí mismo, por mi nombre, lo haré; porque no dejaré que mi nombre sea avergonzado; Y mi gloria no la daré a otro.

12 Hearken unto me O Jacob, And Israel, my called one, —I, am, the Same I, the first, yea, I, the last:

Escúchame, Jacob, e Israel, mi amado; Yo soy el, soy el primero y el último.

13 Surely, mine own hand, founded the earth, And, my right hand, stretched out the heavens, —While I was calling unto them, they stood forth, at once

Sí, por mi mano estaba la tierra puesta sobre su base, y por mi mano derecha se extendían los cielos; en mi palabra ellos toman sus lugares.

14 Assemble yourselves—all of you and hear, Who among them, hath told these things? he whom Yahweh loveth, will execute—His pleasure, on Babylon, And his stroke on the Chaldeans.

Vengan todos, y escuchen; ¿Quién de ustedes ha dado noticias de estas cosas? El amado del Señor hará su placer con Babilonia y con la simiente de los caldeos.

15 I—I, have spoken, Yea I have called him, —I have brought him in, and he shall make prosperous his way.

Yo, incluso yo, he dado la palabra; He enviado por él; lo he hecho venir, y donde vaya prosperará.

16 Draw ye near unto me—hear ye this, Not in advance in secret, have I spoken, From the very time it cometh into being, there, am I, —And, now, My Lord Yahweh hath sent me and his spirit.

Acérquense a mí, y escuchen esto; Desde el principio no he hablado en secreto; Desde el momento de su existencia, estuve allí, y ahora el Señor Dios me ha enviado y su espíritu.

17 Thus saith Yahweh—Thy Redeemer, The Holy One of Israel, —I—Yahweh, am thy God, Teaching thee to profit, Guiding thee in the way thou shouldest go.

El Señor tu redentor, el Santo de Israel, dice: Yo soy el Señor, tu Dios, que te está enseñando para tu beneficio, guiándote por el camino por el que debes ir.

18 Oh! that thou hadst hearkened to my commandments, —Then had been, like a river, thy prosperity, And, thy righteousness, like the waves of the sea:

Si tan solo hubieras escuchado mis órdenes, entonces tu paz habría sido como un río, y tu justicia como las olas Del Mar.

19 Then had been, like the sand, thy seed, And, the offspring of thy body, like the grains thereof, —Neither cut off nor destroyed had been his name from before me.

Tu semilla habría sido como la arena, y tu descendencia como sus granos; tu nombre no sería destruido ni se borraría ante mí presencia.

20 Come ye forth out of Babylon, Flee from among the Chaldeans, With triumphant voice, tell ye—let this be heard, Let it go forth as far as the end of the earth, —Say ye—Yahweh hath redeemed his servant Jacob!

Salgan de Babilonia, huyan de los caldeos; con cantos de alegría, den la noticia, que la palabra salga hasta el fin de la tierra; digan: El Señor ha libertado a su siervo Jacob.

21 And they thirsted not, when, through dry places, he led them, Waters out of the rock, caused he to flow out to them, —Yea be cleft a rock and, there gushed out waters:

No tenían necesidad de agua cuando los guiaba a través del desierto; hizo que el agua saliera de la roca para ellos; la roca se separó y las aguas salieron.

22 No well-being, saith Yahweh to the lawless,

No hay paz, dice el Señor, para los que hacen el mal.
