Isaiah 44
1 Now, then—hear, O Jacob, my Servant, —and Israel whom I have chosen:
Agora pois, ouve ó Jacob, servo meu, e tu ó Israel, a quem escolhi.
2 Thus, saith Yahweh—Who made thee and formed thee from birth, Who helpeth thee: Do not fear O my Servant Jacob, and Jeshurun whom I have chosen;
Assim diz o Senhor que te criou e te formou desde o ventre, e que te ajudará: Não temas, ó Jacob, servo meu, e tu, Jeshurun, a quem escolhi.
3 For I will pour, Water upon the thirsty soil, and Floods upon the dry ground, —I will pour My spirit upon thy seed, and My blessing upon thine offspring;
Porque derramarei água sobre o sedento, e rios sobre a terra seca: derramarei o meu espírito sobre a tua semente, e a minha benção sobre os teus descendentes.
4 So will they spring up among the grass, As willows by the water-courses:
E brotarão entre a erva, como salgueiros junto aos ribeiros das águas.
5 This one, will say Yahweh’s, am I, and That one, will call himself by the name of Jacob, and Yonder one will write on his hand—Yahweh’s, And after the name of Israel, will one entitle himself.
Este dirá: Eu sou do Senhor; e aquele se chamará do nome de Jacob; e aquele outro escreverá com a sua mão: Eu sou do Senhor, e por sobrenome se tomará o nome de Israel.
6 Thus saith Yahweh—King of Israel, Even his Redeemer, Yahweh of hosts, —I, am, First, and, I, Last, And besides me, there is no God.
Assim diz o Senhor, Rei de Israel, e seu redentor, o Senhor dos exércitos: Eu sou o primeiro, e eu sou o último, e fora de mim não há Deus.
7 Who then, like me, can call, and declare it, and order it, for me, Seeing that I appointed an age-abiding people, —Or things yet to be, and that shall come to pass, Let them declare on their part.
E quem chamará como eu, e de antes anunciará isto, e o porá em ordem perante mim, desde que ordenei um povo eterno? e anunciem-lhes as coisas futuras, e as que ainda hão de vir
8 Do not ye dread, nor yet be alarmed, Have I not from olden time, told thee and declared? So that, ye, are my witnesses, —Whether there is a GOD besides me? Or is no Rock—I knew of none!
Não vos assombreis, nem temais; porventura desde então não to fiz ouvir, e não anunciei? porque vós sois as minhas testemunhas. Porventura há outro Deus fora de mim? Não, não há Rocha alguma mais, que eu conheça
9 The fashioners of an image—all of them, are emptiness, And, the things they delight in, cannot profit, —And, their, witnesses, they, neither see nor know, That they may be ashamed.
Todos os artífices de imagens de escultura são vaidade, e as suas coisas mais desejáveis são de nenhum préstimo; e elas mesmas são as suas testemunhas; nada veem nem entendem; pelo que serão confundidos.
10 Who hath fashioned a GOD, Oran image, hath molten? It cannot profit!
Quem forma um deus, e funde uma imagem de escultura, que é de nenhum préstimo?
11 Lo! all his partners, turn pale, Even, the artificers themselves, are of the sons of earth, —Let them gather themselves together—all of them. Let them take their stand, Let them dread, and turn pale, together!
Eis que todos os seus companheiros ficarão confundidos, pois os mesmos artífices são de entre os homens: ajuntem-se todos, e levantem-se; assombrar-se-ão, e serão juntamente confundidos.
12 As for the smith, [with his] cutting-tool, —When he hath wrought in the live coals, And, with hammers, hath fashioned it, —And hath wrought it with his strong arm, Anon he is hungry, and hath no strength, He hath drunk no water and so hath become faint!
O ferreiro faz o machado, e trabalha nas brazas, e o forma com martelos, e o lavra à força do seu braço: ele tem fome, e a sua força enfraquece, e não bebe água, e desfalece.
13 As for the carpenter, —He hath stretched out a line hath drawn it with a pencil, Hath made it with carving tools, With compasses, hath rounded it, —And so hath made it after the figure of a great man, After the beauty of a son of earth, that it may remain in a house!
O carpinteiro estende a regoa, o debuxa com a almagra, o aplaina com o cepilho, e o debuxa com o compasso: e o faz à semelhança dum homem, segundo a forma dum homem, para se ficar em casa.
14 When one was cutting him down cedars, Then took he a holm-tree and an oak, And secured them for himself, among the trees of the forest, —He planted a fir-tree and the pouring rain made it grow;
Quando corta para si cedros, então toma um cipreste, ou um carvalho, e esforça-se contra as árvores do bosque: planta um olmeiro, e a chuva o faz crescer.
15 So it serveth for a man to burn, And he hath taken of the branches and warmed himself, Also he kindleth a fire, and baketh bread, —Also he maketh a GOD, and hath bowed himself down, Hath made of it a carved image, and adored it:
Então servirá ao homem para queimar, e toma deles, e se aquenta, e os acende, e coze o pão: também faz um deus, e se prostra diante dele; também fabrica dele uma imagem de escultura, e ajoelha diante dela.
16 The half thereof, hath he burned in the fire, Over half thereof, he eateth flesh, He roasteth roast, that he may be satisfied, —Also he warmeth himself, and saith, Aha, I am warm, I have seen a blaze;
Metade dele queima no fogo, com a outra metade come carne; assa-a, e farta-se dela: também se aquenta, e diz: Ora já me aquentei, já vi o fogo.
17 And the residue thereof, Into a GOD, he maketh, Into his carved image, —Adoreth it, and boweth down and prayeth unto it, And saith Deliver me, for, my GOD, thou art!
Então do resto faz um deus, uma imagem de escultura: ajoelha-se diante dela, e se inclina, e ora-lhe, e diz: Livra-me, porquanto tu és o meu deus.
18 They have not taken note, neither can they perceive, —He hath besmeared—past seeing—their eyes, Past understanding, their hearts;
Nada sabem, nem entendem; porque untou-lhes os olhos, para que não vejam, e os seus corações, para que não entendam.
19 And no one reflecteth—There is neither knowledge nor discernment—to say, Half thereof, have I burned up in the fire Moreover also I have baked, on the coals thereof, bread, I roasted flesh, and have been eating, —And of the remainder thereof, an abomination, shall I make? And, to a log of wood, shall I pay adoration?
E nenhum deles toma isto a peito, e já não tem conhecimento nem entendimento para dizer: Metade queimei no fogo, e cozi pão sobre as suas brazas, assei a elas carne, e a comi: e faria eu do resto uma abominação? ajoelhar-me-ia eu ao que saiu de uma árvore?
20 He is feeding on ashes, A deluded heart, hath turned him aside, —And he cannot deliver his own soul nor say, Is there not a falsehood in my right hand?
Apascenta-se de cinza: o seu coração enganado o desviou; de maneira que já não pode livrar a sua alma, nem dizer: Porventura não há uma mentira na minha mão direita?
21 Remember these things, O Jacob, And, Israel, —for, my Servant, thou art, —I have fashioned thee, a Servant of mine, thou art.
Lembra-te destas coisas ó Jacob e Israel, porquanto és meu servo; eu mesmo te formei, meu servo és, ó Israel; não me esquecerei de ti.
22 O Israel, thou shalt not be forgotten of me, I have wiped out, As with a thick cloud, thy transgressions, And as with a broad cloud, thy sins, —Return unto me, for I have redeemed thee.
Desfaço as tuas transgressões como a névoa, e os teus pecados como a nuvem: torna-te para mim, porque já eu te remi.
23 Shout in triumph ye heavens for Yahweh, hath effectually wrought. Shout, O ye underparts of the earth, Ring out, Ye mountains, into cries of triumph, Thou forest, and every tree therein, —For, Yahweh, hath redeemed, Jacob, And in Israel, will he get himself glory.
Cantai alegres, ó vós, céus, porque o Senhor o fez: exultai vós, as partes mais baixas da terra, vós, montes, retumbai com júbilo; também vós, bosques, e todas as árvores que estão neles; porque o Senhor remiu a Jacob, e glorificou-se em Israel
24 Thus, saith Yahweh Who hath redeemed thee, Who hath fashioned thee from birth, —I—Yahweh, am the maker of all things, Stretching out the heavens, alone, Spreading forth the earth, of myself;
Assim diz o Senhor, teu redentor, e que te formou desde o ventre: Eu sou o Senhor que faço tudo, que, só eu, estendo os céus, e espraio a terra por mim mesmo;
25 Frustrating the signs of praters, And, diviners, he confoundeth, —Turning wise men backwards, And their knowledge, he maketh folly;
Que desfaço os sinais dos inventores de mentiras, e enlouqueço aos adivinhos; que faço tornar atráz os sábios, e endoideço a ciência deles;
26 Establishing the word of his Servant, And the counsel of his Messengers, he maketh good, —Who saith of Jerusalem—She shall be inhabited! And of the cities of Judah—They shall be built! And the ruins thereof, will I set up!
Que confirma a palavra do seu servo, e cumpre o conselho dos seus mensageiros; que diz a Jerusalém: Tu serás habitada, e às cidades de Judá: Sereis reedificadas, e eu levantarei as suas ruínas;
27 Who saith to the deep—Be dry and Thy rivers, will I drain!
Que diz à profundeza: seca-te, e eu secarei os teus rios;
28 Who saith of Cyrus—My Shepherd! and All my pleasure, shall he make good Even saying of Jerusalem—She shall be built! And of the temple—Be her foundation laid!
Que diz de Cyro: É meu pastor, e cumprirá todo o meu contentamento: dizendo também a Jerusalém: Sê edificada; e ao templo: Funda-te.
