Isaiah 43

1 Now, therefore, Thus, saith Yahweh—Creating thee, O Jacob, and Fashioning thee O Israel, —Do not fear, For I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name. Mine, thou art!

Dar acum, astfel spune DOMNUL care te-a creat, Iacobe, şi cel care te-a format, Israele: Nu te teme, fiindcă te-am răscumpărat, te-am chemat pe nume, eşti al meu.

2 When thou passest through the waters, with thee, I am, Or, through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee, —When thou walkest through fire, thou shall not be scorched, And, a flame, shall not kindle upon thee;

Când vei trece prin ape, eu voi fi cu tine, şi prin râuri, ele nu te vor inunda; când vei umbla prin foc, nu vei fi ars; nici flacăra nu se va aprinde pe tine.

3 For, I,—Yahweh, am, Thy God, The Holy One of Israel Ready to save thee, —I have given, as thy ransom, Egypt, Ethiopia and Seba, in thy stead.

Fiindcă eu sunt DOMNUL Dumnezeul tău, Cel Sfânt al lui Israel, Salvatorul tău; am dat Egiptul ca răscumpărare a ta, Etiopia şi Seba pentru tine.

4 Because thou art precious in mine eyes, art honoured And, I, love thee, —And will give mankind, in thy stead, Yea, peoples, for thy life,

Căci ai fost preţios înaintea ochilor mei, ai fost demn de cinste şi te-am iubit, de aceea voi da oameni pentru tine şi popoare pentru viaţa ta.

5 Do not fear for, with thee, I am, —From the East, will I bring in thy seed, And, from the West, will I gather thee:

Nu te teme, căci eu sunt cu tine: Voi aduce sămânţa ta din est şi te voi aduna din vest;

6 I will say to the North Give up! And to the South Do not withhold! Bring in My sons from far, and My daughters from the end of the earth;

Voi spune nordului: Renunţă; şi sudului: Nu reţine; adu pe fiii mei de departe şi pe fiicele mele de la marginile pământului;

7 Every one who is called by my Name, Whom for mine own glory, I have created—formed—yea, made!

Pe fiecare ce este chemat cu numele meu, fiindcă l-am creat pentru gloria mea, l-am format; da, eu l-am făcut.

8 Bring forth A blind people that have, eyes, and A deaf, that have, ears.

Aduceţi poporul orb care are ochi şi pe surzii care au urechi.

9 All the nations, are gathered together Yea there is an assembling of peoples, Who among them, can tell this, And things in advance, can let us hear? Let them set forth their witnesses that they may get their right, Or let them hear, and say Truth!

Să se strângă toate naţiunile şi să se adune toate popoarele, cine dintre ei poate vesti aceasta şi să ne arate lucrurile din urmă? Să îşi aducă martorii lor, ca să fie declaraţi drepţi, sau să audă şi să spună: Este Adevăr.

10 Ye, are my witnesses Declareth Yahweh, And my Servant, whom I have chosen, —That ye may take note—and believe me, And perceive that, I, am He, Before me, was not formed a GOD, Nor after me, shall one come into being:

Voi sunteţi martorii mei, spune DOMNUL, şi servitorul meu pe care l-am ales, ca să mă cunoaşteţi şi să mă credeţi şi să înţelegeţi că eu sunt el: Înaintea mea nu a fost format niciun Dumnezeu, nici nu va fi după mine.

11 I—I, am Yahweh, —And there is none besides me ready to save:

Eu, chiar eu, sunt DOMNUL; şi în afară de mine nu este salvator.

12 I, have told—and will save, and make known, That there is among you no strange one; And, ye, are my witnesses, Declareth Yahweh That, I, am GOD.

Am vestit şi am salvat şi am arătat, când nu era dumnezeu străin printre voi, de aceea voi sunteţi martorii mei, spune DOMNUL, că eu sunt Dumnezeu.

13 Even from To-day, I, am He, And none, out of my hand, can deliver, —I work and who reverseth?

Da, înainte ca ziua să fie, eu sunt el; şi nu este nimeni care să scape din mâna mea, voi face [lucrare] şi cine i se va împotrivi?

14 Thus saith Yahweh, Your Redeemer, The Holy One of Israel, —For your sakes, have I sent into Babylon, And will bring down as fugitives, all of them, —Even the Chaldeans, in the ships which cause them loud outcry.

Astfel spune DOMNUL, răscumpărătorul tău, Cel Sfânt al lui Israel: De dragul vostru am trimis în Babilon şi am doborât pe toţi nobilii lor şi pe caldeeni, al căror strigăt este în corăbii.

15 I—Yahweh, am Your Holy One, —The Creator of Israel, Your King.

Eu sunt DOMNUL, Cel Sfânt al vostru, creatorul lui Israel, Împăratul vostru.

16 Thus, saith Yahweh, —Who setteth in the sea, a way, —And in the mighty waters, a path;

Astfel spune DOMNUL, care face o cale prin mare şi o cărare în apele puternice;

17 Who bringeth forth Chariot and horse, Force and strength, Together, shall they lie down They shall not arise, They are extinguished Like a wick, are they quenched!

Care aduce carul şi calul, armata şi puterea; se vor culca împreună şi nu se vor [mai] ridica, au dispărut de tot, sunt stinşi precum câlţii.

18 Do not keep in mind former things, —And things of old, do not consider:

Nu vă amintiţi lucrurile dinainte, nici nu luaţi aminte la lucrurile din vechime.

19 Behold me! doing a new thing, Now, shall it spring forth, Will ye not take note thereof? Surely I will set In the desert, a way, In a desolate land, rivers:

Iată, voi face un lucru nou; acum se va ivi; să nu cunoaşteţi voi aceasta? Voi face o cale în pustiu [şi] râuri în locul secetos.

20 The wild beast of the field shall honour me, Jackals, and ostriches, Because I have given—In the desert, waters, Rivers in, desolate land, To give drink unto my people, my chosen:

Fiara câmpului mă va onora, dragonii şi bufniţele, pentru că eu dau ape în pustiu [şi] râuri în deşert, pentru a da de băut poporului meu, alesul meu.

21 A people which I have fashioned for myself, My praise, shall they record.

Pe acest popor l-am format pentru mine; vor arăta lauda mea.

22 Yet not upon me, hast thou called, O Jacob, —For thou hast been wearied of me O Israel:

Dar tu nu m-ai chemat, Iacobe, ci te-ai obosit de mine, Israele.

23 Thou hast not brought in to me small cattle as thine ascending-offerings, Nor, with thy sacrifices, hast thou honoured me, —I have not oppressed thee with meal-offerings, Nor have I wearied thee with frankincense;

Nu mi-ai adus viţeii ofrandei tale arse, nici nu m-ai onorat cu sacrificiile tale. Nu te-am făcut să serveşti cu o ofrandă, nici nu te-am obosit cu tămâie.

24 Thou hast not bought for me with silver, fragrant calamus, Nor with the fat of thy sacrifices, hast thou sated me, —Thou hast done nothing but oppress me with thy sins, Thou hast wearied me with thine iniquities.

Nu mi-ai cumpărat cu bani trestie dulce de zahăr, nici nu m-ai umplut cu grăsimea sacrificiilor tale, ci m-ai făcut să servesc cu păcatele tale, m-ai obosit cu nelegiuirile tale.

25 I—I, am he that is ready, To wipe out thy transgressions for mine own sake, —And, thy sins, not remember.

Eu, chiar eu, sunt cel care am şters fărădelegile tale de dragul meu şi nu îmi voi aminti păcatele tale.

26 Put me in mind, Let us enter into judgment at once, —Recount, thou, that thou mayest be justified:

Adu-mi aminte, să pledăm împreună; vesteşte, ca să poţi fi declarat drept.

27 Thy chief father, hath sinned, And thine interpreters, have transgressed against me;

Tatăl tău dintâi a păcătuit şi învăţătorii tăi au încălcat legea împotriva mea.

28 So then I must needs profane the rulers of the holy place, —And deliver Jacob to be devoted to destruction, and Israel, unto reviling!

De aceea am spurcat pe prinţii sanctuarului şi l-am dat pe Iacob blestemului şi pe Israel ocărilor.
