Isaiah 43
1 Now, therefore, Thus, saith Yahweh—Creating thee, O Jacob, and Fashioning thee O Israel, —Do not fear, For I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name. Mine, thou art!
Mais maintenant, ainsi dit l’Éternel, qui t’a créé, ô Jacob, et qui t’a formé, ô Israël: Ne crains point, car je t’ai racheté; je t’ai appelé par ton nom, tu es à moi.
2 When thou passest through the waters, with thee, I am, Or, through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee, —When thou walkest through fire, thou shall not be scorched, And, a flame, shall not kindle upon thee;
Quand tu passeras par les eaux, je serai avec toi, et par les rivières, elles ne te submergeront pas; quand tu marcheras dans le feu, tu ne seras pas brûlé, et la flamme ne te consumera pas.
3 For, I,—Yahweh, am, Thy God, The Holy One of Israel Ready to save thee, —I have given, as thy ransom, Egypt, Ethiopia and Seba, in thy stead.
Car moi, je suis l’Éternel, ton Dieu, le Saint d’Israël, ton sauveur. J’ai donné l’Égypte pour ta rançon, Cush et Seba pour toi.
4 Because thou art precious in mine eyes, art honoured And, I, love thee, —And will give mankind, in thy stead, Yea, peoples, for thy life,
Depuis que tu es devenu précieux à mes yeux, tu as été glorieux, et moi, je t’ai aimé; et je donnerai des hommes pour toi et des peuples pour ta vie.
5 Do not fear for, with thee, I am, —From the East, will I bring in thy seed, And, from the West, will I gather thee:
Ne crains pas, car je suis avec toi. Je ferai venir du levant ta semence, et je te rassemblerai du couchant;
6 I will say to the North Give up! And to the South Do not withhold! Bring in My sons from far, and My daughters from the end of the earth;
je dirai au nord: Donne, et au midi: Ne retiens pas; amène mes fils de loin, et mes filles du bout de la terre,
7 Every one who is called by my Name, Whom for mine own glory, I have created—formed—yea, made!
chacun qui est appelé de mon nom, et que j’ai créé pour ma gloire, que j’ai formé, oui, que j’ai fait.
8 Bring forth A blind people that have, eyes, and A deaf, that have, ears.
Fais sortir le peuple aveugle qui a des yeux, et les sourds qui ont des oreilles.
9 All the nations, are gathered together Yea there is an assembling of peoples, Who among them, can tell this, And things in advance, can let us hear? Let them set forth their witnesses that they may get their right, Or let them hear, and say Truth!
Que toutes les nations soient réunies ensemble, et que les peuples se rassemblent! Qui d’entre eux a déclaré cela, et nous a fait entendre les choses précédentes? Qu’ils produisent leurs témoins et qu’ils se justifient, ou qu’ils entendent, et disent: C’est la vérité!
10 Ye, are my witnesses Declareth Yahweh, And my Servant, whom I have chosen, —That ye may take note—and believe me, And perceive that, I, am He, Before me, was not formed a GOD, Nor after me, shall one come into being:
Vous êtes mes témoins, dit l’Éternel, [vous] et mon serviteur que j’ai choisi, afin que vous connaissiez, et que vous me croyiez, et que vous compreniez que moi je suis le Même: avant moi aucun Dieu n’a été formé, et après moi il n’y en aura pas.
11 I—I, am Yahweh, —And there is none besides me ready to save:
Moi, moi, je suis l’Éternel, et hors moi il n’y en a point qui sauve.
12 I, have told—and will save, and make known, That there is among you no strange one; And, ye, are my witnesses, Declareth Yahweh That, I, am GOD.
Moi, j’ai déclaré, et j’ai sauvé, et j’ai fait entendre, quand il n’y avait pas de [dieu] étranger au milieu de vous; et vous êtes mes témoins, dit l’Éternel, que je suis Dieu.
13 Even from To-day, I, am He, And none, out of my hand, can deliver, —I work and who reverseth?
Aussi, depuis qu’il y a un jour, je suis le Même, et il n’y a personne qui délivre de ma main: j’opérerai, et qui peut [m’en] détourner?
14 Thus saith Yahweh, Your Redeemer, The Holy One of Israel, —For your sakes, have I sent into Babylon, And will bring down as fugitives, all of them, —Even the Chaldeans, in the ships which cause them loud outcry.
Ainsi dit l’Éternel, votre rédempteur, le Saint d’Israël: À cause de vous j’ai envoyé à Babylone, et je les ai fait descendre tous comme des fugitifs, même les Chaldéens, dans les vaisseaux où s’entend leur cri.
15 I—Yahweh, am Your Holy One, —The Creator of Israel, Your King.
Moi, je suis l’Éternel, votre Saint, le créateur d’Israël, votre roi.
16 Thus, saith Yahweh, —Who setteth in the sea, a way, —And in the mighty waters, a path;
Ainsi dit l’Éternel, qui donne un chemin dans la mer et un sentier dans les eaux puissantes,
17 Who bringeth forth Chariot and horse, Force and strength, Together, shall they lie down They shall not arise, They are extinguished Like a wick, are they quenched!
qui fait sortir le char et le cheval, l’armée et les forts, – ils sont couchés ensemble, ils ne se lèveront pas; ils finissent, éteints comme une mèche:
18 Do not keep in mind former things, —And things of old, do not consider:
Ne vous souvenez pas des choses précédentes, et ne considérez pas les choses anciennes.
19 Behold me! doing a new thing, Now, shall it spring forth, Will ye not take note thereof? Surely I will set In the desert, a way, In a desolate land, rivers:
Voici, je fais une chose nouvelle; maintenant elle va germer: ne la connaîtrez-vous pas? Oui, je mettrai un chemin dans le désert, des rivières dans le lieu désolé.
20 The wild beast of the field shall honour me, Jackals, and ostriches, Because I have given—In the desert, waters, Rivers in, desolate land, To give drink unto my people, my chosen:
La bête des champs me glorifiera, les chacals et les autruches; car j’ai donné des eaux dans le désert, des rivières dans le lieu désolé, pour abreuver mon peuple, mon élu.
21 A people which I have fashioned for myself, My praise, shall they record.
J’ai formé ce peuple pour moi-même; ils raconteront ma louange.
22 Yet not upon me, hast thou called, O Jacob, —For thou hast been wearied of me O Israel:
Mais tu ne m’as pas invoqué, ô Jacob; car tu as été las de moi, ô Israël.
23 Thou hast not brought in to me small cattle as thine ascending-offerings, Nor, with thy sacrifices, hast thou honoured me, —I have not oppressed thee with meal-offerings, Nor have I wearied thee with frankincense;
Tu ne m’as pas apporté le menu bétail de tes holocaustes, et tu ne m’as pas glorifié par tes sacrifices. Je ne t’ai pas asservi à des offrandes de gâteau, et je ne t’ai pas fatigué pour l’encens.
24 Thou hast not bought for me with silver, fragrant calamus, Nor with the fat of thy sacrifices, hast thou sated me, —Thou hast done nothing but oppress me with thy sins, Thou hast wearied me with thine iniquities.
Tu n’as pas acheté pour moi du roseau aromatique pour de l’argent, et tu ne m’as pas rassasié de la graisse de tes sacrifices; mais tu m’as asservi par tes péchés, tu m’as fatigué par tes iniquités.
25 I—I, am he that is ready, To wipe out thy transgressions for mine own sake, —And, thy sins, not remember.
– C’est moi, c’est moi qui efface tes transgressions à cause de moi-même; et je ne me souviendrai pas de tes péchés.
26 Put me in mind, Let us enter into judgment at once, —Recount, thou, that thou mayest be justified:
Fais-moi souvenir, plaidons ensemble; raconte toi-même, afin que tu sois justifié.
27 Thy chief father, hath sinned, And thine interpreters, have transgressed against me;
Ton premier père a péché, et tes médiateurs se sont rebellés contre moi;
28 So then I must needs profane the rulers of the holy place, —And deliver Jacob to be devoted to destruction, and Israel, unto reviling!
et j’ai profané les chefs du lieu saint, et j’ai livré Jacob à la destruction et Israël à l’opprobre.
