Isaiah 40
1 Comfort ye—comfort ye my people, —Saith your God.
“ആശ്വസിപ്പിക്കുക, എന്റെ ജനത്തെ ആശ്വസിപ്പിക്കുക,” എന്നു നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു.
2 Speak ye unto the heart of Jerusalem, And cry unto her, —That accomplished is her warfare, That accepted is her punishment, —That she hath received, at the hand of Yahweh, According to the full measure of all her sins.
“ജെറുശലേമിനോടു ദയാപൂർവം സംസാരിച്ച് അവളുടെ യുദ്ധത്തിന്റെ കാലം കഴിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു, അവളുടെ അകൃത്യം ക്ഷമിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു, അവളുടെ എല്ലാ പാപങ്ങൾക്കും യഹോവയുടെ കൈയിൽനിന്ന് ഇരട്ടി ശിക്ഷ അനുഭവിച്ചുകഴിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു,” എന്നും അവളോടു വിളിച്ചുപറയുക.
3 A voice of one crying!—In the desert, prepare ye the way of Yahweh, —Make smooth in the waste plain a highway for our God:
മരുഭൂമിയിൽ വിളംബരംചെയ്യുന്ന ശബ്ദം: “മരുഭൂമിയിൽ യഹോവയ്ക്കുവേണ്ടി പാത നേരേയാക്കുക; നമ്മുടെ ദൈവത്തിന് ഒരു രാജവീഥി നിരപ്പാക്കുക.
4 Let, every valley, be exalted, And every mountain and hill, be made low, —And, the steep ground become, level, And, the chain of hills—a plain:
എല്ലാ താഴ്വരകളും ഉയർത്തപ്പെടും എല്ലാ പർവതങ്ങളും കുന്നുകളും താഴ്ത്തപ്പെടും; നിരപ്പില്ലാത്തതു നിരപ്പായിത്തീരട്ടെ, കഠിനപ്രതലങ്ങൾ ഒരു സമതലഭൂമിയായും.
5 Then shall be revealed the glory of Yahweh, —And all flesh shall see it together, For, the mouth of Yahweh, hath spoken!
യഹോവയുടെ തേജസ്സ് വെളിപ്പെടും, എല്ലാ മനുഷ്യരും അത് ഒരുമിച്ചു കാണും. യഹോവയുടെ വായ് അത് അരുളിച്ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു.”
6 A voice saying Cry! And one said—What should I cry? All flesh, is grass, And, all the grace thereof, like the flower of the field:
“വിളിച്ചുപറയുക,” എന്നൊരു ശബ്ദമുണ്ടായി. അപ്പോൾ, “എന്തു വിളിച്ചുപറയണം?” എന്നു ഞാൻ ചോദിച്ചു. “എല്ലാ മാനവരും തൃണസമാനരും അവരുടെ അസ്തിത്വം വയലിലെ പൂപോലെയും.
7 The grass hath withered The flower hath faded, Because, the breath of Yahweh, hath blown upon it! Surely the people is grass!
യഹോവയുടെ ശ്വാസം അവരുടെമേൽ അടിക്കുമ്പോൾ പുല്ലു വാടുന്നു, പൂക്കൾ കൊഴിയുന്നു; മനുഷ്യൻ പുല്ലുതന്നെ, നിശ്ചയം.
8 The grass, hath withered, The flower, hath faded, —But the word of our God, shall stand unto times age-abiding!
പുല്ല് ഉണങ്ങുന്നു, പൂക്കൾ കൊഴിയുന്നു; നമ്മുടെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ വചനമോ ചിരകാലത്തേക്കുമുള്ളത്.”
9 To a high mountain, get ye up, O herald—band of Zion, Lift high with strength your voice, O herald—band of Jerusalem, —Lift it high, do not fear, Say to the cities of Judah—Lo! your God!
സീയോനിലേക്കു സദ്വാർത്ത കൊണ്ടുവരുന്നവരേ, ഒരു ഉയർന്ന പർവതത്തിലേക്കു കയറിച്ചെല്ലുക. ജെറുശലേമിലേക്കു സദ്വാർത്ത കൊണ്ടുവരുന്നവരേ, നിങ്ങളുടെ ശബ്ദം ശക്തിയോടെ ഉയർത്തുക. ഭയപ്പെടാതെ ശബ്ദമുയർത്തുക; “ഇതാ, നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവം!” എന്ന് യെഹൂദ്യയിലെ നഗരങ്ങളോടു പറയുക.
10 Lo! My Lord, Yahweh, as a mighty one, doth come, And, his own arm, is about to rule for him, —Lo! his reward, is with him, And, his recompense, before him;
ഇതാ, യഹോവയായ കർത്താവ് ശക്തിയോടെ വരുന്നു, അവിടന്ന് ശക്തിയുള്ള ഭുജത്താൽ ഭരണം നടത്തുന്നു. ഇതാ, പ്രതിഫലം അവിടത്തെ പക്കലും പാരിതോഷികം അവിടത്തെ കൈയിലും ഉണ്ട്.
11 Like a shepherd, his flock, will he tend, In his own arm, will he take up the lambs, And in his own bosom, will he carry [them], —Them which are with young, will he lead to a place of rest.
ഒരു ഇടയനെപ്പോലെ അവിടന്നു തന്റെ ആട്ടിൻപറ്റത്തെ മേയിക്കുന്നു: അവിടന്നു കുഞ്ഞാടുകളെ തന്റെ കൈകളിലേന്തുകയും തന്റെ മാറോടുചേർത്തു വഹിക്കുകയും തള്ളകളെ സൗമ്യതയോടെ നടത്തുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.
12 Who hath measured, with the hollow of his hand, the waters. Or the heavens with a span, hath meted out, Or hath comprehended, in a measure, the dust of the earth, Or weighed, in scales, the mountains, Or the hills, in a balance?
മഹാസാഗരങ്ങളെ തന്റെ ഉള്ളങ്കൈയാൽ അളക്കുകയും ആകാശവിശാലത കൈയുടെ വിസ്തൃതികൊണ്ട് അളന്നുതിരിക്കുകയും ഭൂമിയിലെ പൊടി അളവുപാത്രംകൊണ്ട് അളന്നു തിട്ടപ്പെടുത്തുകയും പർവതങ്ങളെ ത്രാസുകൊണ്ടും മലകളെ തുലാംകൊണ്ടും തൂക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നതാർ?
13 Who hath proved the spirit of Yahweh? Or being his counsellor hath been giving him knowledge?
യഹോവയുടെ ആത്മാവിന്റെ ആഴമളക്കാനോ യഹോവയുടെ ഉപദേഷ്ടാവായിരിക്കാനോ കഴിയുന്നതാർ?
14 With whom hath he taken counsel—And he hath given him intelligence, And instructed him in the path of justice, —And taught him knowledge, And in the way of intelligence, hath been giving him understanding?
അറിവുപകർന്നുകിട്ടാനായി ആരോടാണ് യഹോവ ആലോചന ചോദിച്ചത്? നേരായ മാർഗം അവിടത്തെ പഠിപ്പിച്ചത് ആരാണ്? ജ്ഞാനം അവിടത്തെ ഉപദേശിച്ചത് ആരാണ്? അഥവാ, പരിജ്ഞാനത്തിന്റെ പാത ആരാണ് അവിടത്തേക്കു കാണിച്ചുകൊടുത്തത്?
15 Lo! nations, Are us a drop on a bucket, And as fine dust on a balance, are accounted, —Lo! islands, like an atom, can he hoist;
ഇതാ, രാഷ്ട്രങ്ങൾ തൊട്ടിയിലെ ഒരു തുള്ളി വെള്ളംപോലെയും തുലാസിലെ പൊടിപോലെയും അവിടത്തേക്ക് തോന്നുന്നു; ഇതാ, ദ്വീപുകളെ ഒരു മണൽത്തരിപോലെ അവിടന്ന് ഉയർത്തുന്നു.
16 And, Lebanon, is not sufficient to burn, —Nor, the beasts thereof sufficient for an ascending-sacrifice!
ലെബാനോൻപോലും യാഗപീഠത്തിലെ വിറകിനു മതിയാകുകയോ അതിലെ മൃഗങ്ങൾ ഹോമയാഗത്തിനു തികയുകയോ ഇല്ല.
17 All nations, are as nothing before him, —A thing of nought or a waste, are they accounted unto him?
സകലരാഷ്ട്രങ്ങളും അവിടത്തെ മുമ്പിൽ വെറും ശൂന്യത; അവ അവിടത്തേക്ക് നിസ്സാരവും നിരർഥകവും.
18 Unto whom then can ye liken GOD? Or, what likeness, can ye compare unto him?
അപ്പോൾ, ദൈവത്തെ നിങ്ങൾ ആരോടു താരതമ്യംചെയ്യും? ഏതു രൂപത്തോടാണ് നിങ്ങൾ ദൈവത്തെ ഉപമിക്കുന്നത്?
19 The image, hath been cast by an artificer, And a goldsmith, with gold, overlayeth it, —And, chains of silver, he worketh.
വിഗ്രഹത്തെക്കുറിച്ചോ, ഒരു ശില്പി അതു വാർത്തെടുക്കുന്നു, സ്വർണപ്പണിക്കാർ അതിന്മേൽ സ്വർണം പൂശുന്നു, അതിനായി വെള്ളിച്ചങ്ങല ഒരുക്കുന്നു.
20 The needy offerer, of a tree that will not rot, maketh choice, —A skilled artificer, seeketh he out for himself to construct an image that shall not totter,
ഇത്തരമൊരു പ്രതിഷ്ഠയ്ക്കു വകയില്ലാത്തവർ ദ്രവിച്ചുപോകാത്ത ഒരു മരം തെരഞ്ഞെടുക്കുന്നു; അയാൾ വീണുപോകാത്ത ഒരു വിഗ്രഹം പണിതുണ്ടാക്കുന്നതിനായി സമർഥനായ ഒരു ആശാരിയെ അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നു.
21 Have ye never taken note? Have ye never heard? Hath it not from the beginning, been told you? Have ye not been led to discern, from the foundations of the earth?
നിങ്ങൾക്കറിഞ്ഞുകൂടേ? നിങ്ങൾ കേട്ടിട്ടില്ലേ? ആദിമുതൽതന്നെ അതു നിങ്ങളോടറിയിച്ചിട്ടില്ലേ? ഭൂമിയുടെ സ്ഥാപനംമുതൽതന്നെ നിങ്ങൾ അതു ഗ്രഹിച്ചിട്ടില്ലേ?
22 It is he who sitteth upon the circle of the earth, While the inhabitants thereof are, as grass-hoppers, —Who stretcheth forth, as a curtain, the heavens, And spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in;
അവിടന്നാണ് ഭൂമണ്ഡലത്തിനുമീതേ ഇരുന്നരുളുന്നത്, അതിലെ നിവാസികൾ അവിടത്തേക്ക് വിട്ടിലിനെപ്പോലെയാണ്. അവിടന്ന് ആകാശത്തെ ഒരു തിരശ്ശീലപോലെ നിവർക്കുകയും പാർക്കുന്നതിന് ഒരു കൂടാരംപോലെ അതിനെ വിരിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.
23 Who delivereth dignitaries to nothingness, —Judges of earth, like a desolation, hath he made:
അവിടന്ന് ഭരണാധികാരികളെ ശൂന്യരാക്കുകയും ഭൂമിയിലെ ന്യായാധിപരെ വിലകെട്ടവരാക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.
24 Scarcely have they been planted, Scarcely have they been sown, Scarcely hath their stock, begun to take root in the earth, When he hath just blown upon them and they have withered, And, a whirlwind, as though they had been chaff, carrieth them away.
അവരെ നട്ട ഉടൻതന്നെ, വിതച്ചമാത്രയിൽത്തന്നെ, അവർ ഭൂമിയിൽ വേരൂന്നിയപ്പോൾത്തന്നെ, അവിടന്ന് അവരുടെമേൽ ഊതും, അത് ഉണങ്ങിപ്പോകുന്നു, ചുഴലിക്കാറ്റിൽ വൈക്കോൽ എന്നപോലെ അവരെ തൂത്തെറിയുന്നു.
25 Unto whom then, can ye liken me, or can I be equal? Saith the Holy One.
“അങ്ങനെയെങ്കിൽ നിങ്ങൾ ആരോട് എന്നെ ഉപമിക്കും? ആരോടു ഞാൻ തുല്യനാകും?” എന്നു പരിശുദ്ധൻ ചോദിക്കുന്നു.
26 Lift on high your eyes—and see who hath created these, That bringeth forth, by number, their host, —To all of them by name, doth call, Because of the abundance of vigour and alertness of strength, not one, is missing!
നിങ്ങളുടെ കണ്ണുകൾ ഉയർത്തി ആകാശത്തേക്ക് നോക്കുക: ഇവയെല്ലാം നിർമിച്ചത് ആരാണ്? അവിടന്ന് നക്ഷത്രസമൂഹത്തെ അണിയണിയായി മുന്നോട്ടുകൊണ്ടുവന്ന് അവയെ എല്ലാം പേർചൊല്ലി വിളിക്കുന്നു. അവിടത്തെ ശക്തിയുടെ മഹത്ത്വത്താലും ബലാധിക്യത്താലും അവയിൽ ഒന്നുപോലും കുറഞ്ഞുപോകുന്നില്ല.
27 Wherefore, shouldest thou say, O Jacob, or speak, O Israel, —Hidden is my path from Yahweh, And from my God, my vindication, will pass?
“എന്റെ വഴി യഹോവയ്ക്കു മറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; എനിക്കു ലഭിക്കേണ്ട ന്യായം എന്റെ ദൈവം അവഗണിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു,” എന്ന് യാക്കോബേ, നീ പരാതിപ്പെടുന്നതെന്ത്? ഇസ്രായേലേ, നീ സംസാരിക്കുന്നതെന്ത്?
28 Hast thou not known, Hast thou not heard, That The God of age-past time—Yahweh The Creator of the ends of the earth Fainteth not neither groweth weary—There is no searching of his understanding:
നിനക്ക് അറിഞ്ഞുകൂടേ? നീ കേട്ടിട്ടില്ലേ? യഹോവ നിത്യനായ ദൈവം ആകുന്നു, അവിടന്നാണ് ഭൂമിയുടെ അറുതികളെല്ലാം സൃഷ്ടിച്ചത്. അവിടന്നു ക്ഷീണിക്കുന്നില്ല, തളരുന്നതുമില്ല; അവിടത്തെ വിവേകം അപ്രമേയംതന്നെ.
29 Giving to him that fainteth, strength, And to him that hath no vigour, he causeth, power to abound?
അവിടന്നു ക്ഷീണിതർക്കു ശക്തിനൽകുന്നു, ബലം കുറഞ്ഞവരുടെ ബലം വർധിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.
30 Youths both faint and grow weary, And, young warriors—they fall, they fall;
യുവാക്കൾപോലും ക്ഷീണിച്ചു തളർന്നുപോകുന്നു, ചെറുപ്പക്കാർ കാലിടറി നിലംപൊത്തുന്നു;
31 But, they who wait for Yahweh, shall renew their strength, They shall mount on strong pinion like eagles, —They shall run and not grow weary, They shall walk and not faint.
എങ്കിലും യഹോവയ്ക്കായി കാത്തിരിക്കുന്നവർ അവരുടെ ശക്തി പുതുക്കും. അവർ കഴുകന്മാരെപ്പോലെ ചിറകടിച്ചുയരും; അവർ ഓടും, ക്ഷീണിക്കുകയില്ല, അവർ നടക്കും, തളർന്നുപോകുകയുമില്ല.
