Isaiah 40
1 Comfort ye—comfort ye my people, —Saith your God.
Tröstet, tröstet mein Volk, spricht euer Gott; redet freundlich mit Jerusalem und rufet ihr zu,
2 Speak ye unto the heart of Jerusalem, And cry unto her, —That accomplished is her warfare, That accepted is her punishment, —That she hath received, at the hand of Yahweh, According to the full measure of all her sins.
daß ihr Frondienst vollendet, daß ihre Schuld gesühnt ist; denn sie hat von der Hand des HERRN Zwiefältiges empfangen für alle ihre Sünden.
3 A voice of one crying!—In the desert, prepare ye the way of Yahweh, —Make smooth in the waste plain a highway for our God:
Eine Stimme ruft: In der Wüste bereitet den Weg des HERRN, ebnet auf dem Gefilde eine Bahn unserm Gott!
4 Let, every valley, be exalted, And every mountain and hill, be made low, —And, the steep ground become, level, And, the chain of hills—a plain:
Jedes Tal soll erhöht, jeder Berg und Hügel erniedrigt werden, und was krumm ist, soll gerade, und was höckericht ist, zur Ebene werden;
5 Then shall be revealed the glory of Yahweh, —And all flesh shall see it together, For, the mouth of Yahweh, hath spoken!
und die Herrlichkeit des HERRN wird sich offenbaren und alles Fleisch zumal wird sie sehen; denn der Mund des HERRN hat es gesagt.
6 A voice saying Cry! And one said—What should I cry? All flesh, is grass, And, all the grace thereof, like the flower of the field:
Es spricht eine Stimme: Predige! Und er sprach: Was soll ich predigen? «Alles Fleisch ist Gras und alle seine Anmut wie die Blume des Feldes!
7 The grass hath withered The flower hath faded, Because, the breath of Yahweh, hath blown upon it! Surely the people is grass!
Das Gras wird dürr, die Blume welkt; denn der Hauch des HERRN weht darein. Wahrhaftig, das Volk ist Gras!
8 The grass, hath withered, The flower, hath faded, —But the word of our God, shall stand unto times age-abiding!
Das Gras verdorrt, die Blume verwelkt; aber das Wort unsres Gottes bleibt in Ewigkeit.»
9 To a high mountain, get ye up, O herald—band of Zion, Lift high with strength your voice, O herald—band of Jerusalem, —Lift it high, do not fear, Say to the cities of Judah—Lo! your God!
Steige auf einen hohen Berg, o Zion, die du gute Botschaft bringst! Erhebe deine Stimme mit Kraft, o Jerusalem, die du gute Botschaft bringst; erhebe sie ohne Furcht; sage den Städten Judas: Seht, da ist euer Gott!
10 Lo! My Lord, Yahweh, as a mighty one, doth come, And, his own arm, is about to rule for him, —Lo! his reward, is with him, And, his recompense, before him;
Siehe, Gott, der HERR, kommt als ein Starker, und sein Arm wird für ihn herrschen; siehe, sein Lohn ist bei ihm, und was er erworben, geht vor ihm her.
11 Like a shepherd, his flock, will he tend, In his own arm, will he take up the lambs, And in his own bosom, will he carry [them], —Them which are with young, will he lead to a place of rest.
Er wird seine Herde weiden wie ein Hirte; in seinen Arm wird er die Lämmer nehmen und sie an seinem Busen tragen; die Schafmütter wird er sorgsam führen.
12 Who hath measured, with the hollow of his hand, the waters. Or the heavens with a span, hath meted out, Or hath comprehended, in a measure, the dust of the earth, Or weighed, in scales, the mountains, Or the hills, in a balance?
Wer maß die Wasser mit der hohlen Hand? Wer grenzte den Himmel mit der Spanne ab und faßte den Staub der Erde in einen Dreiling? Wer wog die Berge mit der Waage ab und die Hügel mit Waagschalen?
13 Who hath proved the spirit of Yahweh? Or being his counsellor hath been giving him knowledge?
Wer unterrichtete den Geist des HERRN, und welcher Ratgeber hat ihn unterwiesen?
14 With whom hath he taken counsel—And he hath given him intelligence, And instructed him in the path of justice, —And taught him knowledge, And in the way of intelligence, hath been giving him understanding?
Wen hat er um Rat gefragt, daß er ihn verständig mache und ihm den Weg des Rechts weise, daß er ihn Erkenntnis lehre und ihm den Weg des Verstandes zeige?
15 Lo! nations, Are us a drop on a bucket, And as fine dust on a balance, are accounted, —Lo! islands, like an atom, can he hoist;
Siehe, die Völker sind wie ein Tropfen am Eimer; wie ein Stäublein in den Waagschalen sind sie geachtet; siehe, er hebt die Inseln auf wie ein Sandkörnlein!
16 And, Lebanon, is not sufficient to burn, —Nor, the beasts thereof sufficient for an ascending-sacrifice!
Der Libanon reicht nicht hin zum Feuer, und seine Tiere genügen nicht zum Brandopfer.
17 All nations, are as nothing before him, —A thing of nought or a waste, are they accounted unto him?
Alle Völker sind wie nichts vor ihm; für eitel und gar nichtig gelten sie ihm!
18 Unto whom then can ye liken GOD? Or, what likeness, can ye compare unto him?
Wem wollt ihr denn Gott vergleichen? Oder was für ein Ebenbild wollt ihr ihm an die Seite stellen?
19 The image, hath been cast by an artificer, And a goldsmith, with gold, overlayeth it, —And, chains of silver, he worketh.
Das Götzenbild? Das hat der Künstler gegossen, und der Goldschmied überzieht es mit Gold und gießt silberne Ketten daran.
20 The needy offerer, of a tree that will not rot, maketh choice, —A skilled artificer, seeketh he out for himself to construct an image that shall not totter,
Wer aber arm ist, wählt zu seinem Weihgeschenk ein Holz, das nicht fault, und sucht sich einen Schnitzer, der ein Götzenbild herstellen kann, das nicht wackelt.
21 Have ye never taken note? Have ye never heard? Hath it not from the beginning, been told you? Have ye not been led to discern, from the foundations of the earth?
Wisset ihr es nicht? Hört ihr es nicht? Ist es euch nicht von Anfang an verkündigt worden? Habt ihr die Gründung der Erde nicht begriffen?
22 It is he who sitteth upon the circle of the earth, While the inhabitants thereof are, as grass-hoppers, —Who stretcheth forth, as a curtain, the heavens, And spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in;
Der ich über dem Kreise der Erde sitze und vor dem ihre Bewohner wie Heuschrecken sind; der ich den Himmel ausbreite wie einen Flor und ihn ausspanne wie ein Zelt, daß man darunter wohne;
23 Who delivereth dignitaries to nothingness, —Judges of earth, like a desolation, hath he made:
der ich Fürsten zunichte und Richter der Erde machtlos mache
24 Scarcely have they been planted, Scarcely have they been sown, Scarcely hath their stock, begun to take root in the earth, When he hath just blown upon them and they have withered, And, a whirlwind, as though they had been chaff, carrieth them away.
kaum sind sie gepflanzt, kaum sind sie gesetzt, kaum wurzelt ihr Stamm in der Erde, so hauche ich sie an, daß sie verdorren und dahinfahren wie Stoppeln vor dem Sturmwind;
25 Unto whom then, can ye liken me, or can I be equal? Saith the Holy One.
wem wollt ihr mich vergleichen, dem ich gleich sein soll? spricht der Heilige.
26 Lift on high your eyes—and see who hath created these, That bringeth forth, by number, their host, —To all of them by name, doth call, Because of the abundance of vigour and alertness of strength, not one, is missing!
Hebet eure Augen zur Höhe und seht: Wer hat diese erschaffen? Er, der ihr Heer nach der Zahl herausführt, der sie alle mit Namen ruft. So groß ist sein Vermögen und so stark ist er, daß es nicht an einem fehlen kann.
27 Wherefore, shouldest thou say, O Jacob, or speak, O Israel, —Hidden is my path from Yahweh, And from my God, my vindication, will pass?
Warum sprichst du denn, Jakob, und sagst du, Israel: Mein Weg ist vor dem HERRN verborgen, und mein Recht entgeht meinem Gott?
28 Hast thou not known, Hast thou not heard, That The God of age-past time—Yahweh The Creator of the ends of the earth Fainteth not neither groweth weary—There is no searching of his understanding:
Weißt du denn nicht, hast du denn nicht gehört? Der ewige Gott, der HERR, der die Enden der Erde geschaffen hat, wird nicht müde noch matt; sein Verstand ist unerschöpflich!
29 Giving to him that fainteth, strength, And to him that hath no vigour, he causeth, power to abound?
Er gibt dem Müden Kraft und Stärke genug dem Unvermögenden.
30 Youths both faint and grow weary, And, young warriors—they fall, they fall;
Knaben werden müde und matt, und Jünglinge fallen;
31 But, they who wait for Yahweh, shall renew their strength, They shall mount on strong pinion like eagles, —They shall run and not grow weary, They shall walk and not faint.
die aber auf den HERRN harren, kriegen neue Kraft, daß sie auffahren mit Flügeln wie Adler, daß sie laufen und nicht matt werden, daß sie wandeln und nicht müde werden.
