Isaiah 33
1 Alas! thou plunderer when, thou, hadst not been plundered, And thou traitor when they had not betrayed thee: When thou hast ceased plundering, thou shalt be plundered, When thou hast left off betraying, they shall betray thee.
¡Ay! de ti que destruyes y no has sido destruido; traicionado a los que no te traicionaron. Cuando hayas acabado de destruir, serás destruido, y después de tus traiciones, ellos harán lo mismo contigo.
2 O Yahweh! shew us favour, —For thee, have we waited, —Be thou their arm every morning, Yea our salvation in the time of distress.
Señor, ten piedad de nosotros; porque hemos estado esperando tu ayuda; sé nuestra fuerza cada mañana, nuestra salvación en el tiempo de angustia.
3 At the noise of a tumult, the peoples retreated, —When thou didst lift thyself up, nations were scattered.
Ante el fuerte ruido de tu voz, los pueblos han huido; al levantarte tú, las naciones han ido en todas direcciones.
4 Then shall your spoil be gathered as the gathering of the caterpillar, —As the swift running of locusts, is he about to run upon them.
Y los bienes tomados en la guerra se juntarán como recoge la oruga; los hombres correrán sobre ellos como la ráfaga de saltamontes.
5 Exalted is Yahweh, for he inhabiteth a height, —He hath filled Zion with justice and righteousness.
El Señor es levantado; su lugar está en lo alto; y llena de justicia y juicio a Sion.
6 So shall a wealth of deliverances, wisdom and knowledge, become the stability of thy times, —the reverence of Yahweh, the same is his treasure.
Y ya no tendrá más miedo al cambio, estará llena de salvación, sabiduría y conocimiento, el temor del Señor es su riqueza.
7 Lo! their heroes, have cried out openly, —the messengers of peace, in bitterness, continue weeping [they say]:
Mira, los hombres de guerra están tristes fuera de la ciudad, los mensajeros de paz lloran amargamente.
8 The highways are deserted, The passer-by on the path, hath ceased, —He hath broken covenant, He hath despised cities, He hath made no account of men.
Las carreteras son un derroche, ningún hombre está viajando allí; el acuerdo se rompe, ha desdeñado las ciudades, no piensa en el hombre.
9 The land mourneth, languisheth, Lebanon, displayeth shame, is withered, —Sharon, hath become, as the waste plain, And Bashan and Carmel are shaking off their leaves.
La tierra está triste y desgastada; El Líbano es avergonzado y se marchita; Sarón es como un desierto; y en Basán y Carmel caen las hojas.
10 Now, will I arise, Saith Yahweh, Now, will I lift myself up, Now, will I be exalted!
Ahora me levantaré, dice el Señor; ahora seré exaltado; ahora seré ensalzado.
11 Ye shall conceive chaff Ye shall bring forth stubble, —Your own breath, like fire, shall devour you.
Concebiste paja, y darás a luz rastrojo; serás quemado por el fuego de mi aliento.
12 So shall peoples, become, as the burnings of lime, —As thorns lopped off, with fire, shall they be burned.
Y los pueblos serán como la quema de cal, como espinos cortados, que se queman en el fuego.
13 Hear—ye that are far off. what I have done, And know—ye that are near my might:
Escucha, tú que estás lejos, a lo que he hecho, reconozcan mi poder, tú que estás cerca.
14 Terror-stricken in Zion, —are sinners, Shuddering hath seized the impious, —Who among us can sojourn with a fire that devoureth? Who among us can sojourn with burnings age-abiding?
Los pecadores en Sión están llenos de temor; los que odian a Dios tiemblan de asombro. ¿Quién de nosotros puede mantener su lugar ante el fuego ardiente? ¿Quién de nosotros habitará en las llamas eternas?
15 He that walketh righteously, And speaketh uprightly, —He that refuseth the gain of exactions That shaketh his hands free from holding a bribe, That stoppeth his ear from hearkening to deeds of blood, And shutteth his eyes from giving countenance to wrong,
El, cuyos caminos son verdaderos, y cuyas palabras son rectas; el que desdeña los beneficios del lucro, cuyas manos sacude para no recibir soborno, él que no participa en la muerte de los hombres y cuyos ojos están cerrados contra el mal;
16 He, the heights, shall inhabit, A stronghold of crags, shall be his refuge, —His bread, hath been delivered, His waters, have been made sure,
Tendrá un lugar en lo alto; será su fortaleza, su lugar de refugio las rocas altas, se le dará su pan; sus aguas serán seguras.
17 Of a king, in his beauty, shall thine eyes have vision: They shall see a land that stretcheth afar.
Tus ojos verán al rey en su gloria y estarán mirando una tierra lejana.
18 Thy heart, may murmur in terror, —Where is the scribe? Where—the receiver? Where—he that maketh a list of the towers?
Tu corazón pensará en la causa de tu temor: ¿dónde está el escriba, dónde está el que hizo un registro de los pagos, dónde está él que contó las torres?
19 The fierce people, shalt thou not see, —The people of too deep a lip to be understood, of too barbarous a tongue for thee to comprehend.
Nunca más verás a las personas crueles, personas cuya lengua no tiene sentido para ti; cuyo lenguaje te es extraño.
20 Look thou on Zion, the city of our appointed feast, —Thine own eyes, shall see Jerusalem—A home of comfort A tent which shall not be packed up—Whose pins shall not be pulled out, for ever, And none of, whose cords, shall be broken.
Deja que tus ojos descansen sobre Sión, el pueblo de nuestras fiestas santas; verás Jerusalén, un lugar de descanso tranquilo, una tienda de campaña que no se moverá, cuyas estacas de tienda nunca serán levantadas, y cuyos cordones nunca serán rotos.
21 But, there shall Yahweh be our majestic one, A place of rivers—streams broad on both hands, Wherein shall go no galley with oars, Neither shall majestic ship traverse it;
Pero allí estará el Majestuoso, Él Señor con nosotros en su gloria, y será para nosotros lugar de guerra ríos y arroyos anchos; donde ningún barco irá con remos, y ningún barco potente pasará por él.
22 For, Yahweh is our judge, Yahweh, is our lawgiver, —Yahweh, is our king, He will save us!
Porque el Señor es nuestro juez, el Señor es nuestro legislador, el Señor es nuestro rey; Él será nuestro salvador.
23 Loosed are thy ropes, —They cannot strengthen the socket of their mast They have not unfurled a sail Now, can be apportioned spoil, in abundance, The lame, have captured prey!
Tus cuerdas se han aflojado; no pudieron hacer más fuerte él mástil, la vela no se estiró; entonces los ciegos tomarán mucha propiedad, los cojos harán la división de la abundancia del botín.
24 Neither shall the inhabitant say. I am sick, —the people who dwell therein, have been forgiven iniquity.
Y los hombres de Sion no dirán: Estoy enfermo; porque su pueblo tendrá perdón por su pecado.
