Hosea 7
1 When I would have brought healing to Israel, then was disclosed the iniquity of Ephraim, and the wicked doings of Samaria, for they have wrought falsehood, —when, a thief, would enter, a band roamed about, outside,
Lorsque je voulais guérir Israël, l’iniquité d’Ephraïm et la malice de Samarie ont été révélées, parce qu’ils ont commis le mensonge; et un voleur est entré pillant, un brigand a pillé au dehors.
2 And they say not to their own hearts, that, all their wickedness, I remember, now, have their doings, beset them about, right before my face, have they been done.
Et que par hasard ils ne disent point dans leurs cœurs que je me suis souvenu de toute leur malice; maintenant leurs inventions les ont investis, c’est devant ma face qu’elles ont été commises.
3 By their wickedness, they gladden a king, and, by their flatteries, —rulers.
Par leur malice ils ont réjoui un roi; et par leurs mensonges des princes.
4 They all, are adulterers, like an oven too hot for the baker, —who leaveth off stoking, after kneading the dough, till the whole be leavened.
Tous sont adultères, semblables à un four allumé par le boulanger; la ville a goûté un peu de repos, depuis que le levain a été mêlé avec la pâte, jusqu’à ce qu’elle ait été toute levée.
5 In the day of our king, the rulers, have made themselves ill, with the heat of wine, —he hath extended his hand with scoffers.
C’est le jour de notre roi; les princes ont commencé à être en fureur par le vin, le roi a tendu la main aux railleurs;
6 For they have made ready, like an oven, their heart, by their lying in wait, —all the night, their baker sleepeth, in the morning, he, kindleth up as it were a blazing fire.
Parce qu’ils ont rendu leur cœur comme un four, lorsqu’il leur tendait un piège; durant toute la nuit il a dormi en les faisant cuire; dès le matin, lui-même a été embrasé comme un feu de flamme.
7 They all, become hot as an oven, and devour their judges, —all their kings, have fallen, there hath been none among them crying unto me.
Tous ont été chauffés comme un four, et ils ont dévoré leurs juges; tous leurs rois sont tombés; il n’est personne parmi eux qui crie vers moi.
8 As for Ephraim! with the peoples, hath he been mingling himself, —Ephraim, is a cake not turned.
Ephraïm lui-même se mêlait avec les peuples; Ephraïm est devenu comme un pain cuit sous la cendre, et qu’on ne retourne pas.
9 Foreigners have, eaten up, his strength, and, he, knoweth it not, —even gray hairs, are sprinkled upon him, and, he, knoweth it not.
Des étrangers ont consumé sa force, et lui-même ne l’a pas senti; mais de plus ses cheveux répandus sur sa tête sont devenus blancs, et lui-même ne s’en est point aperçu.
10 Therefore doth the Excellency of Israel, answer, to his face; yet have they not returned unto Yahweh their God, nor have they sought him, in spite of all this!
Et l’orgueil d’Israël sera humilié à sa face; et ils ne sont pas revenus vers le Seigneur leur Dieu, et ils ne l’ont pas recherché au milieu de tous ces maux.
11 So then, Ephraim, hath become, like a simple dove, having no understanding, on Egypt, have they called, to Assyria, have they gone,
Et Ephraïm est devenu comme une colombe séduite, n’ayant pas de cœur; ils invoquaient l’Egypte; ils sont allés vers les Assyriens.
12 Whithersoever they go, I will spread over them my net, like a bird of the heavens, will I bring them down, I will chastise them, by the time the report can reach the flock of them.
Et lorsqu’ils seront partis, j’étendrai sur eux mon rets; comme l’oiseau du ciel je les ferai descendre, je les taillerai en pièces, selon que l’a entendu leur assemblée.
13 Woe to them! for they have taken flight from me, destruction to them! for they have transgressed against me, —when, I, would have ransomed them, then, they, spake—concerning me—falsehoods.
Malheur à eux, puisqu’ils se sont retirés de moi; ils seront désolés, parce qu’ils ont prévariqué contre moi; et moi je les ai rachetés, et eux, ils ont proféré contre moi des mensonges.
14 Neither made they outcry unto me, in their heart, although they kept on howling upon their beds, over corn and new wine, they gathered themselves together, they rebelled against me.
Et ils n’ont pas crié vers moi en leur cœur; mais ils hurlaient sur leurs couches; ils méditaient sur le blé et le vin, et ils se sont retirés de moi.
15 When, I, had warned them, I strengthened their arm, —yet, against me, kept they on devising wickedness.
Et moi, je les ai châtiés, et j’ai fortifié leur bras, et contre moi ils ont eu des pensées de malice.
16 They would return—not to him who is on high! They have become like a deceitful bow, their rulers, shall fall by the sword, for the rage of their tongue, this, [shall be] their derision in the land of Egypt.
Ils sont revenus à vouloir être sans joug; ils sont devenus comme un arc trompeur; leurs princes tomberont sous le glaive, par la fureur de leur langue. Ceci les rendra un objet de dérision dans la terre d’Egypte.
