Hosea 7
1 When I would have brought healing to Israel, then was disclosed the iniquity of Ephraim, and the wicked doings of Samaria, for they have wrought falsehood, —when, a thief, would enter, a band roamed about, outside,
Pendant que Je guérissais Israël, l'iniquité d'Éphraïm et la méchanceté de Samarie ont été révélées; car ils étaient ouvriers de mensonges. Et le larron entrera chez Éphraïm, et le brigand le pillera dans ses chemins,
2 And they say not to their own hearts, that, all their wickedness, I remember, now, have their doings, beset them about, right before my face, have they been done.
comme des chanteurs qui s'accordent entre eux. Je Me suis souvenu de toute leur malice; et maintenant leurs pensées les ont enveloppés, et elles sont venues devant Ma face.
3 By their wickedness, they gladden a king, and, by their flatteries, —rulers.
Ils ont réjoui les rois par leur perversité, et les princes par leurs mensonges.
4 They all, are adulterers, like an oven too hot for the baker, —who leaveth off stoking, after kneading the dough, till the whole be leavened.
Ils sont tous adultères; ils sont comme un feu brûlant pour la cuisson, tout échauffé par la flamme, lorsque l'on a pétri la pâte, jusqu'à ce qu'elle ait fermenté.
5 In the day of our king, the rulers, have made themselves ill, with the heat of wine, —he hath extended his hand with scoffers.
Du temps de vos rois, vos princes commençaient la journée par s'enflammer avec le vin; le roi lui-même étendait la main avec des hommes de pestilence.
6 For they have made ready, like an oven, their heart, by their lying in wait, —all the night, their baker sleepeth, in the morning, he, kindleth up as it were a blazing fire.
Parce que leurs cœurs étaient brûlants comme un four pendant qu'ils s'exaltaient, Éphraïm se rassasiait de sommeil toute la nuit; et quand venait l'aurore il brûlait encore comme la flamme du feu.
7 They all, become hot as an oven, and devour their judges, —all their kings, have fallen, there hath been none among them crying unto me.
Ils étaient tous échauffés comme un four, et ils dévorèrent leurs juges; tous leurs rois tombèrent, et nul ne fut parmi eux pour M'invoquer.
8 As for Ephraim! with the peoples, hath he been mingling himself, —Ephraim, is a cake not turned.
Éphraïm se mêla à leurs peuples; Éphraïm devint comme un gâteau cuit sous la cendre et qu'on n'a pas retourné.
9 Foreigners have, eaten up, his strength, and, he, knoweth it not, —even gray hairs, are sprinkled upon him, and, he, knoweth it not.
Les étrangers dévorèrent sa force, et il n'en sut rien; ses cheveux blanchirent, et il ne le sut pas.
10 Therefore doth the Excellency of Israel, answer, to his face; yet have they not returned unto Yahweh their God, nor have they sought him, in spite of all this!
Et l'orgueil d'Israël sera humilié en sa face; et ils ne sont point revenus au Seigneur leur Dieu, et ils ne l'ont point cherché dans tous leurs malheurs.
11 So then, Ephraim, hath become, like a simple dove, having no understanding, on Egypt, have they called, to Assyria, have they gone,
Et Éphraïm demeura comme une colombe insensée et sans cœur. Il invoqua l'Égypte, et alla aux Assyriens.
12 Whithersoever they go, I will spread over them my net, like a bird of the heavens, will I bring them down, I will chastise them, by the time the report can reach the flock of them.
Tandis qu'ils chemineront, Je jetterai sur eux Mon filet, Je les ramènerai comme des oiseaux du ciel; Je les punirai avec la rumeur même de leurs afflictions.
13 Woe to them! for they have taken flight from me, destruction to them! for they have transgressed against me, —when, I, would have ransomed them, then, they, spake—concerning me—falsehoods.
Malheur à eux parce qu'ils se sont retirés de Moi! Les voilà tous craintifs parce qu'ils ont péché contre Moi. Je les avais rachetés, et ils ont dit des mensonges contre Moi.
14 Neither made they outcry unto me, in their heart, although they kept on howling upon their beds, over corn and new wine, they gathered themselves together, they rebelled against me.
Et leurs cœurs n'ont point crié vers Moi; et ils ont hurlé sur leurs couches; ils ont séché faute de pain et de vin.
15 When, I, had warned them, I strengthened their arm, —yet, against me, kept they on devising wickedness.
Et ils ont été instruits par Moi, et J'ai fortifié leurs mains; et ils ont eu contre Moi des pensées de malice.
16 They would return—not to him who is on high! They have become like a deceitful bow, their rulers, shall fall by the sword, for the rage of their tongue, this, [shall be] their derision in the land of Egypt.
Ils sont devenus à rien; les voilà comme un arc détendu; leurs princes tomberont sous le glaive à cause de l'intempérance de leur langue; tel est leur avilissement dans la terre d'Égypte.
