Hosea 13
1 When Ephraim, spake, there was terror, exalted was, he, in Israel, —but, when he became guilty with Baal, then he died.
エフライムが物言えば、人々はおののいた。彼はイスラエルの中に自分を高くした。しかし彼はバアルによって罪を犯して死んだ。
2 Now, therefore they go on to sin, and have made them a Molten Thing out of their silver, after the notion of idols, the workmanship of craftsmen, all of it! Of them, are they saying—Ye sacrificers of men! The Great Calf, shall ye surely kiss!
そして彼らは今もなおますます罪を犯し、その銀をもって自分のために像を鋳、巧みに偶像を造る。これは皆工人のわざである。彼らは言う、これに犠牲をささげよ、人々は子牛に口づけせよと。
3 Therefore, shall they become like the morning cloud, and like the dew early departing, —like chaff storm-driven out of the threshing-floor, and like smoke out of a chimney.
それゆえ彼らは朝の霧のように、すみやかに消えうせる露のように、打ち場から風に吹き去られるもみがらのように、また窓から出て行く煙のようになる。
4 Yet, I, Yahweh, have been thy God from the land of Egypt, —and, god beside me, shalt thou not acknowledge, for, saviour, is there none besides me.
わたしはエジプトの国を出てからこのかた、あなたの神、主である。あなたはわたしのほかに神を知らない。わたしのほかに救う者はない。
5 I, tended thee in the desert, —in a land parched with drought:
わたしは荒野で、またかわいた地で、あなたを知った。
6 Whenever they were pastured, then were they satisfied, They were satisfied, and their heart, was lifted up, —because of this, they forgat me.
しかし彼らは食べて飽き、飽きて、その心が高ぶり、わたしを忘れた。
7 Therefore am I become to them as a lion, —As a leopard by the way, do I watch.
それゆえ、わたしは彼らに向かって、ししのようになり、ひょうのように道のかたわらに潜んでうかがう。
8 I will fall upon them as a bear bereaved, and will read asunder the enclosure of their heart, —that I may devour them there, like a lioness, the wild beast of the field, shall tear them in pieces.
わたしは子を取られた熊のように彼らに出会って、その胸をかきさき、その所で、ししのようにこれを食い尽し、野の獣のようにこれをかき破る。
9 It hath utterly destroyed thee, O Israel, for it was against me, as thy helper!
イスラエルよ、わたしはあなたを滅ぼす。だれがあなたを助けることができよう。
10 Where is thy king, then, that he may save thee throughout all thy cities? and thy judges, concerning whom thou saidst, Oh give me a king and rulers?
あなたを助けるあなたの王は今、どこにいるのか。あなたがかつて「わたしに王と君たちとを与えよ」と言ったあなたを保護すべき、すべてのつかさたちは今、どこにいるのか。
11 I might give thee a king in mine anger, and take him away in my wrath.
わたしは怒りをもってあなたに王を与えた、また憤りをもってこれを奪い取った。
12 Bound up, is the iniquity of Ephraim, stored away, his sin.
エフライムの不義は包みおかれ、その罪は積みたくわえられてある。
13 The pangs of a woman in labour, shall overtake him, —he, is a son, not wise, for, now, he cannot stand still, when children are about to be born.
子を産む女の苦しみが彼に臨む。彼は知恵のない子である。生れる時が来ても彼は産門にあらわれない。
14 Out of the hand of hades, will I ransom them, out of death, will I redeem them, —Where is thy pestilence, O death? Where thy plague, O hades? Repentance, shall be hid from mine eyes. (Sheol h7585)
わたしは彼らを陰府の力から、あがなうことがあろうか。彼らを死から、あがなうことがあろうか。死よ、おまえの災はどこにあるのか。陰府よ、おまえの滅びはどこにあるのか。あわれみは、わたしの目から隠されている。 (Sheol h7585)
15 Though, he, among brethren, be fruitful, there shall come in an east wind, the blast of Yahweh out of the desert coming up, that his spring, may dry up, and his fountain, be exhausted, he, will rob the treasure-house of all the vessels of delight.
たとい彼は葦のように栄えても、東風が吹いて来る。主の風が荒野から吹き起る。これがためにその源はかれ、その泉はかわく。それはすべての尊い物の宝庫をかすめ奪う。
16 Samaria, shall be held guilty, for she hath rebelled against her God, By the sword, shall they fall, their infants, shall be dashed to the ground, and, his women with child, shall be ripped up.
サマリヤはその神にそむいたので、その罪を負い、つるぎに倒れ、その幼な子は投げ砕かれ、そのはらめる女は引き裂かれる。
