Hosea 13
1 When Ephraim, spake, there was terror, exalted was, he, in Israel, —but, when he became guilty with Baal, then he died.
Quando Efraim parlava, incuteva terrore, era un principe in Israele. Ma si è reso colpevole con Baal ed è decaduto.
2 Now, therefore they go on to sin, and have made them a Molten Thing out of their silver, after the notion of idols, the workmanship of craftsmen, all of it! Of them, are they saying—Ye sacrificers of men! The Great Calf, shall ye surely kiss!
Tuttavia continuano a peccare e con il loro argento si sono fatti statue fuse, idoli di loro invenzione, tutti lavori di artigiani. Dicono: «Offri loro sacrifici» e mandano baci ai vitelli.
3 Therefore, shall they become like the morning cloud, and like the dew early departing, —like chaff storm-driven out of the threshing-floor, and like smoke out of a chimney.
Perciò saranno come nube del mattino, come rugiada che all'alba svanisce, come pula lanciata lontano dall'aia, come fumo che esce dalla finestra.
4 Yet, I, Yahweh, have been thy God from the land of Egypt, —and, god beside me, shalt thou not acknowledge, for, saviour, is there none besides me.
Eppure io sono il Signore tuo Dio fin dal paese d'Egitto, non devi conoscere altro Dio fuori di me, non c'è salvatore fuori di me.
5 I, tended thee in the desert, —in a land parched with drought:
Io ti ho protetto nel deserto, in quell'arida terra.
6 Whenever they were pastured, then were they satisfied, They were satisfied, and their heart, was lifted up, —because of this, they forgat me.
Nel loro pascolo si sono saziati, si sono saziati e il loro cuore si è inorgoglito, per questo mi hanno dimenticato.
7 Therefore am I become to them as a lion, —As a leopard by the way, do I watch.
Perciò io sarò per loro come un leone, come un leopardo li spierò per la via,
8 I will fall upon them as a bear bereaved, and will read asunder the enclosure of their heart, —that I may devour them there, like a lioness, the wild beast of the field, shall tear them in pieces.
li assalirò come un'orsa privata dei figli, spezzerò l'involucro del loro cuore, li divorerò come una leonessa; li sbraneranno le bestie selvatiche.
9 It hath utterly destroyed thee, O Israel, for it was against me, as thy helper!
Io ti distruggerò, Israele, e chi potrà venirti in aiuto?
10 Where is thy king, then, that he may save thee throughout all thy cities? and thy judges, concerning whom thou saidst, Oh give me a king and rulers?
Dov'è ora il tuo re, che ti possa salvare? Dove sono i capi in tutte le tue città e i governanti di cui dicevi: «Dammi un re e dei capi»?
11 I might give thee a king in mine anger, and take him away in my wrath.
Ti ho dato un re nella mia ira e con sdegno te lo riprendo.
12 Bound up, is the iniquity of Ephraim, stored away, his sin.
L'iniquità di Efraim è chiusa in luogo sicuro, il suo peccato è ben custodito.
13 The pangs of a woman in labour, shall overtake him, —he, is a son, not wise, for, now, he cannot stand still, when children are about to be born.
Dolori di partoriente lo sorprenderanno, ma egli è figlio privo di senno, poichè non si presenta a suo tempo all'uscire dal seno materno.
14 Out of the hand of hades, will I ransom them, out of death, will I redeem them, —Where is thy pestilence, O death? Where thy plague, O hades? Repentance, shall be hid from mine eyes. (Sheol h7585)
Li strapperò di mano agli inferi, li riscatterò dalla morte? Dov'è, o morte, la tua peste? Dov'è, o inferi, il vostro sterminio? La compassione è nascosta ai miei occhi. (Sheol h7585)
15 Though, he, among brethren, be fruitful, there shall come in an east wind, the blast of Yahweh out of the desert coming up, that his spring, may dry up, and his fountain, be exhausted, he, will rob the treasure-house of all the vessels of delight.
Efraim prosperi pure in mezzo ai fratelli: verrà il vento d'oriente, si alzerà dal deserto il soffio del Signore e farà inaridire le sue sorgenti, farà seccare le sue fonti, distruggerà il tesoro di tutti i vasi preziosi.
16 Samaria, shall be held guilty, for she hath rebelled against her God, By the sword, shall they fall, their infants, shall be dashed to the ground, and, his women with child, shall be ripped up.
Samaria espierà, perchè si è ribellata al suo Dio. Periranno di spada, saranno sfracellati i bambini; le donne incinte sventrate.
