< Hosea 10 >
1 A luxuriant vine, is Israel, fruit, beseemeth him, —According to the abundance of his fruit, hath he brought abundance to the altars, according to the goodliness of his land, hath he made goodly statues.
O KA Iseraela, he kumu waina, i ulu palahalaha, e hua ana i ka hua nona iho; E like me ka nui o kona hua, pela no ia i hoomahuahua ai i na kuahu; E like me ka maikai o kona aina, pela no ia i hoonani ai i na kii.
2 Hypocritical is their heart, Now, shall they be held guilty, —He, will break down their altars, he will destroy their statutes.
Ua kanalua ko lakou naau; Ano e hoopaiia lakou; E hoohiolo no ia i ko lakou kuahu, E hoopau no ia i ko lakou mau kii.
3 For, now, will they say, We have no king, —for we revere not Yahweh, and what could, a king, do for us?
Ano hoi, e olelo auanei lakou, Aohe o kakou alii, No ka mea, aole o kakou i makau aku ia Iehova; Heaha ka mea a ke alii e hana mai ai no kakou?
4 They have spoken words, swearing falsely, in solemnizing a covenant, —therefore shall judgment, spring up like a poisonous plant, on the ridges of the field.
Ua olelo lakou i na olelo hoohiki wahahee i ka hana ana i ka berita; A ua ulu mai ka hoahewa e like me ka laau make ma na auwaha o ke kula.
5 About the calves of Beth-aven, will the inhabitant of Samaria be concerned, —for the people thereof, have mourned over it, and, the ascetics thereof, who, over it, used to exult, [shall mourn] for the glory thereof, because it hath departed therefrom.
E makau auanei na kanaka o Samaria no na keikibipi o Betavena: No ka mea, e auwe auanei kona poe kanaka no ia mea; A e haalulu na kahuna no kona nani, No ka mea, ua nalowale ia.
6 Itself also, to Assyria, shall be borne along, as a present to a hostile king, —shame, shall Ephraim receive, that Israel, may be ashamed, of his own counsel.
A e laweia'ku hoi ia i Asuria i makana no ke alii no ka enemi: A e kau mai ka hilahila ia Eperaima, A e hilahila hoi ka Iseraela no kona manao iho.
7 Silenced is Samaria: her king, is as a chip on the face of the waters,
A o Samaria, ua okiia'ku kona alii, e like me ka hua maluna o ka wai.
8 So shall the high places of Aven, be destroyed, the sin of Israel, Thorn and prickle, shall come up on their altars, —Therefore shall they say to the mountains, Cover us, and to the hills, Fall on us.
A e hoopauia na heiau o Avena, ka hewa o ka Iseraela: E kupu mai auanei ka laau kuku a me ka puakala maluna o ko lakou mau kuahu; A e olelo aku lakou i na mauna, E uhi mai ia makou; A i na puu, E hiolo mai maluna o makou.
9 Beyond the days of Gibeah, hast thou sinned, O Israel: there, came they to a stand, the battle against the sons of perversity, touched them not in Gibeah.
E ka Iseraela, ua hana hewa oe mai na la o Gibea mai; Ilaila lakou i ku ai: A o ke kaua ana ma Gibea i na keiki hewa, aole anei ia e hiki aku io lakou la?
10 When I please, then will I chastise them, —and there shall be gathered together against them—peoples, they being harnessed to their two Iniquities;
Eia ko'u manao, e hahau aku ia lakou; A e akoakoa mai na kanaka e ku e ia lakou, I kuu hoopaa ana ia lakou, no ko lakou mau hewa elua.
11 But, Ephraim, shall be a heifer broken in, loving to tread out corn, when, I, have passed over upon her fair neck, —I will drive Ephraim, Judah, shall plow, Jacob, shall harrow to him.
A o Eperaima, ua like ia me ka bipi wahine opiopio i laka, a makemake hoi e hehi i ka palaoa: Aka, e hele aku no au maluna o kona a-i maikai: E hooholo au ia Eperaima; A e hana o Iuda me ka oopalau, A na Iakoba e kuikui i puupuu lepo nona.
12 Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap ye at the bidding of lovingkindness, furrow to yourselves the newly-ploughed soil, —then will be the time to seek Yahweh, until he come, that he may rain down righteousness for you.
E lulu oukou no oukou iho, ma ka pono, E ohi oukou ma ka lokomaikai; E waele i ko oukou mahinaai; No ka mea, he manawa keia e imi ia Iehova, A hiki mai ia, a ao aku i ka pono ia oukou.
13 Ye have plowed lawlessness, perversity, have ye reaped, ye have eaten the fruit of deception, —because thou didst trust in thy chariots, in the multitude of thy mighty men.
Ua mahi oukou ma ka pono ole, a ua ohi oukou i ka hewa; A e ai oukou i ka hua o ka wahahee: No ka mea, ua hilinai oe ma kou aoao iho, A i ka lehulehu o kou poe ikaika.
14 Therefore shall there arise a tumult among thy peoples, and, all thy fortresses, shall be plundered, as Shalman plundered Beth-arbel, in the day of battle, —the mother, upon her children, dashed to the ground.
Nolaila, e kupu mai auanei ka haunaele iwaena o kou poe kanaka, A e hoohioloia kou mau wahi paa a pau loa, E like me Salemana i hoohiolo ai ia Betarebela i ka la o ke kaua; I ulupaia'i ka makuwahine me kana mau keiki.
15 Even so, hath Bethel, done to you, because of your exceeding wickedness, —in the dawn, shall the king of Israel be, utterly silenced.
Pela oia e hana mai ai ia oukou, ma Betela, no ko oukou hewa nui: I kakahiaka e oki loa ia'ku ke alii o ka Iseraela.
