Genesis 1
1 In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.
Au commencement Dieu créa le ciel et la terre.
2 Now, the earth, had become waste and wild, and darkness, was on the face of the roaring deep, —but, the Spirit of God, was brooding on the face of the waters,
Or la terre était invisible et vide; les ténèbres étaient au-dessus de l'abîme, et l'Esprit de Dieu était porté sur les eaux.
3 And God said—Light, be, And light was.
Et Dieu dit: Soit la lumière, et la lumière fut.
4 And God saw the light, that it was, good, and God divided the light, from the, darkness;
Dieu vit que la lumière était bonne, et il sépara la lumière des ténèbres.
5 and God called the light, day, but the darkness, called he, night. So it was evening—and it was morning, one day.
Dieu appela la lumière jour; il appela nuit les ténèbres. Et il y eut un soir, et il y eut un matin; un jour.
6 And God said, Let there be an expanse in the midst of the waters, and let it be a means of dividing, between waters and waters,
Dieu dit ensuite: Qu'il y ait un firmament au milieu des eaux; qu'il sépare les eaux des eaux; et il en fut ainsi.
7 And God made the expanse, and it divided between the waters that were under the expanse and the waters that were above the expanse. And it was so.
Dieu créa le firmament, il sépara les eaux qui étaient au-dessus du firmament, des eaux qui étaient au-dessous du firmament.
8 And God called the expanse, heavens. So it was evening—and it was morning, a, second day.
Il appela le firmament ciel. Et Dieu vit que cela était bien. Et il y eut un soir, et il y eut un matin, et ce fut un deuxième jour.
9 And God said—Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together, into one place, and let the dry—ground appear. And it was so.
Après quoi Dieu dit: Que les eaux, au-dessous du ciel, soient réunies en un seul amas, et que l'aride apparaisse. Et il en fut ainsi: les eaux, au- dessous du ciel, furent réunies en un seul amas, et l'aride apparut.
10 And God called, the dry-ground, land, but the gathering together of the waters, called he seas. And God saw that it was good.
Dieu appela l'aride terre; il appela mers l'amas des eaux. Et Dieu vit que cela était bien.
11 And God said—Let the land put-forth vegetation—herb yielding seed, fruit-tree, bearing fruit after its kind, whose seed is within it on the land. And it was so,
Et Dieu dit: Que la terre produise des plantes herbacées, portant semence selon les espèces et les similitudes, et des arbres fertiles en fruits, qui aient en eux les semences propres à chaque espèce sur la terre. Et il en fut ainsi:
12 And the land brought-forth vegetation—herb yielding seed after its kind, and tree bearing fruit, whose seed is within it, after its kind, And God saw that it was good.
La terre produisit des plantes herbacées, portant semence selon les espèces et les similitudes, et des arbres fertiles en fruits ayant en eux les semences propres à chaque espèce sur la terre. Et Dieu vit que cela était bien.
13 So it was evening—and it was morning, a third day.
Et il y eut un soir, et il y eut un matin, et ce fut un troisième jour.
14 And God said—Let there be luminaries in the expanse of the heavens, to divide between the day and the night, —and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days and years;
Dieu dit ensuite: Que des luminaires soient dans le firmament du ciel, pour luire sur la terre et séparer les jours et les nuits; qu'ils soient les signes des temps et des jours et des années;
15 yea let them be for luminaries in the expanse of the heavens, to give light on the earth. And it was so.
Qu'ils brillent au firmament du ciel, pour éclairer la surface de la terre. Et il en fut ainsi:
16 And God made the two great luminaries, —the greater luminary to rule the day, and the lesser luminary to rule the night, also the stars.
Dieu créa les deux grands luminaires: le plus grand luminaire pour présider aux jours, le luminaire le plus petit pour présider aux nuits. Il créa les étoiles,
17 And God set them in the expanse of the heavens, —to give light on the earth;
Qu'il plaça dans le firmament du ciel pour éclairer la surface de la terre,
18 and to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good.
Présider aux jours et aux nuits, et séparer la lumière des ténèbres. Et Dieu vit que cela était bien.
19 So it was evening—and it was morning, a fourth day.
Et il y eut un soir, et il y eut un matin, et ce fut un quatrième jour.
20 And God said—Let the waters swarm with an abundance of living soul, and, birds, shall fly over the earth, over the face of the expanse of the heavens.
Et Dieu dit: Que les eaux produisent des reptiles, âmes vivantes, et des oiseaux volant sur la terre, sous le firmament du ciel. Et il en fut ainsi:
21 And God created the great sea-monsters, —and every living soul that moveth—[with] which the waters swarmed after their kind and every winged bird—after its kind. And God saw that it was good.
Dieu créa les grands poissons, et tout reptile (âme vivante) que les eaux produisirent par espèces. Il créa tous les oiseaux ailés par espèces. Et Dieu vit que cela était bien.
22 And God blessed them, saying, —Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let, the birds, multiply in the land.
Puis Dieu les bénit, disant: Croissez et multipliez, remplissez les eaux des mers; et que les oiseaux multiplient sur la terre.
23 So it was evening—and it was morning, a fifth day.
Et il y eut un soir, et il y eut un matin, et ce fut un cinquième jour.
24 And God said—Let the land, bring forth, living soul, after its kind, tame-beast and creeping thing and wild-beast, of the land, after its kind. And it was so.
Dieu dit ensuite: Que la terre produise des âmes vivantes, selon les espèces: quadrupèdes, reptiles, bêtes fauves de la terre, par espèces. Et il en fut ainsi:
25 And God made the wild-beast of the land after its kind, and the tame-beast after its kind, and every creeping thing of the ground, after its kind. And God saw that it was good.
Dieu créa les bêtes fauves de la terre, par espèces, les bestiaux selon leurs espèces, et tous les reptiles de la terre par espèces. Et Dieu vit que cela était bien.
26 And God said—Let us make man in our image after our likeness—and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the bird of the heavens and over the tame-beast—and over all the land, and over every creeping thing, that creepeth on the land.
Alors Dieu dit: Créons l'homme à notre image et ressemblance, qu'il ait tout pouvoir sur les poissons de la mer, sur les oiseaux du ciel, et sur les bestiaux, et sur toute la terre, et sur les reptiles se traînant à terre.
27 And God created the man in his own image, In the image of God, created he him, —Male and female, created he, them.
Et Dieu créa l'homme; il le créa à l'image de Dieu; il les créa mâle et femelle.
28 And God blessed them, and God said to them Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, —and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the bird of the heavens, and over every living thing that moveth on the land.
Et Dieu les bénit, disant: Croissez et multipliez, remplissez la terre, et dominez sur elle; soyez maîtres des poissons de la mer, et des oiseaux du ciel, et de tous les bestiaux, et de toute la terre, et de tous les reptiles qui se traînent à terre.
29 And God said—Lo! I have given to you—every herb yielding seed which is on the face of all the land, and every tree wherein is the fruit of a tree yielding seed, —to you, shall it be, for food;
Voyez, dit Dieu, je vous donne toutes les plantes à semence qui germent à la surface de la terre; que tous les arbres qui portent des fruits à semence soient à vous, pour être votre nourriture.
30 and to every living thing of the land—and to every bird of the heavens, and to every thing that moveth on the land, wherein is a living soul, every green herb for food. And it was so.
Que toutes les bêtes fauves de la terre, tous les oiseaux du ciel, tous les reptiles qui se traînent à terre, et ont en eux une âme vivante, aient pour nourriture toute herbe verdoyante. Et il en fut ainsi.
31 And God saw every thing which he had made, and lo! it was very good. So it was evening—and it was morning, the sixth day.
Et Dieu regarda toutes les choses qu'il avait créées; et les trouva excellemment bonnes. Et il y eut un soir, et il y eut un matin, et ce fut un sixième jour.
