Genesis 49
1 Then called Jacob unto his sons, —and said—Gather yourselves together, and let me tell you, that which shall befall you in the afterpart of the days.
Jacob entonces llamó a sus hijos y les dijo: “Reúnanse para que pueda decirles lo que les va a pasar en el futuro.
2 Assemble yourselves and hear ye sons of Jacob, —And hearken unto Israel your father!
Vengan aquí, hijos de Jacob, y escuchen a su padre Israel.
3 Reuben, my first-born, thou, My vigour, and the first-fruit of my strength, —Pre-eminence of elevation and pre-eminence of power:
“Rubén: Tú eres mi primogénito, concebido cuando era fuerte, nacido cuando era vigoroso. Estuviste por encima de todos los demás en posición y en poder.
4 Boiling over like water, thou mayest not have pre-eminence, Because thou didst mount the bed of thy father, —Then, wast thou profane—My marriage-bed, he mounted!
Pero tú hierves como el agua, así que ya no estarás más por encima de nadie, porque fuiste y te acostaste con mi concubina; violaste mi lecho matrimonial.
5 Simeon and Levi, are brethren, —Instruments of violence, are their agreements:
“Simeón y Levi son dos de la misma clase, usan sus armas para la violencia destructiva.
6 Into their circle, do not thou enter my soul! In their convocation, do not thou join mine honour! For in their anger, they slew brave men, And in their wantonness, they ham-strung oxen.
Me niego a ser parte de sus decisiones; me niego a participar en lo que hacen. Porque mataron a los hombres en su ira; lisiaron al ganado sólo por diversión.
7 Accursed, be their anger, because fierce, And their wrath because cruel, —I divide them in Jacob, And I disperse them in Israel.
Maldigo su ira porque es demasiado dura; maldigo su furia porque es demasiado cruel. Separaré a sus descendientes a través de Jacob; los dispersaré por todo Israel.
8 Judah, as for thee, thy brethren shall praise thee when thy hand is on the neck of thy foes, —The sons of thy father, shall bow them-selves down to thee:
“Judá: tus hermanos te alabarán. Derrotarás a tus enemigos. Los hijos de tu padre se inclinarán ante ti en señal de respeto.
9 A lion’s whelp, is Judah, From the prey, my son hast thou come up! He hath stooped—hath crouched As a lion—or as a lioness, Who shall rouse him?
Mi hijo Judá es un joven león que vuelve después de comersea su presa. Se agacha y se acuesta como un león. Así como un león, ¿quién se atrevería a molestarlo?
10 The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, Nor the commander’s staff from between his feet, —Until that he come in as a Shiloh, And, his, be the obedience of the peoples:
Judá siempre sostendrá el cetro, y el bastón de la autoridad estará siempre a sus pies hasta que venga Siloé; las naciones le obedecerán.
11 Binding, to the vine, his ass, And to the choice vine his ass’s colt, He hath washed in wine his raiment, And in the blood of grapes, his mantle:
Ata su asno a la vid, y el potro de su asno a la mejor vid. Lava sus ropas en vino, sus túnicas en el jugo rojo de las uvas.
12 Darker—his eyes, than wine, —Whiter—his teeth than milk!
Sus ojos brillan más que el vino, y sus dientes son más blancos que la leche.
13 Zebulon, by a haven of seas, shall he settle down, —Even he, by a haven of ships, With his utmost part upon Zidon.
“Zabulón vivirá a la orilla del mar y será un puerto para los barcos; su territorio se extenderá hacia Sidón.
14 Issachar, an ass of strength, —couching between the pens;
“Isacar es un asno fuerte, acostado entre dos alforjas.
15 Then beholdeth he rest, that it is good, And the ground that it is pleasant, —So he bendeth his shoulder to bear, And becometh a tributary servant.
Ve que el lugar donde descansa es bueno, y la tierra es encantadora, por lo que está dispuesto a inclinar la espalda para aceptar la carga y trabajar como esclavo.
16 Dan, shall vindicate his people, —as one of the tribes of Israel;
“Dan juzgará a su pueblo como una de las tribus de Israel.
17 It cometh to pass that, Dan, is a serpent upon the way, A horned viper, upon the path, —That biteth the heels of the horse, And his rider falleth backwards: —
Dan será tan peligroso como una serpiente al lado del camino, una víbora por el sendero que muerde el talón del caballo, haciendo caer a su jinete de espaldas.
18 For thy salvation, have I waited O Yahweh!
“Confío en ti para que me salves, Señor.
19 Gad! a troop shall troop on him, —But, he, shall troop on the rear.
“Los jinetes atacarán a Gad, pero él atacará sus talones.
20 Out of Asher, fatness, is his food, —So, he, setteth forth dainties for a king.
“Aser tendrá una comida deliciosa, producirá comida de lujo para la realeza.
21 Naphtali, is a slender hind, —That putteth forth antlers of beauty.
“Neftalí es un ciervo que puede correr libremente; da a luz a hermosos cervatillos.
22 A fruitful bough, is Joseph, A fruitful bough over a fountain, —Branches creeping over a wall.
“José es un árbol fructífero, un árbol fructífero al lado de un manantial, cuyas ramas trepan por la pared.
23 So they attack him and have shot, —So they enclose him, do the masters of arrows.
Los arqueros lo atacaron vilmente; le dispararon sus flechas con odio.
24 But abideth, as an enduring one, his bow, And supple are the arms of his hands, —From the hands of the Mighty One of Jacob, From thence, is the Shepherd the Stone of Israel:
Pero él mantuvo su arco firme, y sus brazos y manos se movieron rápidamente con la fuerza del Poderoso de Jacob, que se llama el Pastor, la Roca de Israel.
25 From the GOD of thy father who doth help thee And GOD Almighty who doth bless thee, Blessings of the heavens, above, Blessings of the abyss, couching beneath, —Blessings of breasts and womb:
El Dios de tu padre te ayudará y el Todopoderoso te bendecirá con bendiciones de los cielos de arriba, con bendiciones de las profundidades abajo, con bendiciones para muchos hijos.
26 The blessings of thy father, have prevailed, Over the blessings of the perpetual mountains, The charm of the age-abiding hills, —They turn out to be, for the head of Joseph, And for the crown of the head of him who was set apart from his brethren.
Las bendiciones que recibió tu padre fueron mayores que las bendiciones de sus antepasados, más que las bendiciones de las montañas eternas. Que estén sobre la cabeza de José, en la frente del que se apartó como líder de sus hermanos.
27 Benjamin a wolf that teareth in pieces, In the morning, he eateth prey, And at eventide, he divideth spoil.
“Benjamín es un lobo feroz. Por la mañana destruye a sus enemigos, por la tarde divide el botín”.
28 All these, are the twelve tribes of Israel, —And this, is that which their father spake to them when he blessed them, Each man severally according to the blessing wherewith he blessed them.
Estas son todas las doce tribus de Israel, y esto es lo que les dijo su padre al bendecirlas, cada una según sus respectivas bendiciones.
29 Then commanded he them and said unto them—I, am about to be gathered unto my people, Bury me among my fathers, —within the cave, that is in the field of Ephron the Hittite:
Luego les dio las siguientes instrucciones: “Voy a morir pronto. Entiérrenme con mis antepasados en la cueva que está en el campo de Efrón el hitita.
30 in the cave that is in the field of Machpelah which is over against Mamre, in the land of Canaan, —which Abraham bought, along with the field, from Ephron the Hittite for a possession of a buryingplace: —
Esta es la cueva que está en el campo de Macpela, cerca de Mamré, en Canaán, y que Abraham compró junto con el campo de Efrón el Hitita para tenerlo como lugar de sepultura.
31 There, buried they Abraham, and Sarah his wife, There, buried they Isaac, and Rebekah his wife, —And there, buried I Leah: —
Abraham y su esposa Sara fueron enterrados allí, Isaac y su esposa Rebeca fueron enterrados allí, y yo enterré a Lea allí.
32 buying the field and the cave that is therein, from the sons of Heth.
El campo y la cueva fueron comprados a los hititas”.
33 So Jacob made an end of commanding his sons, and gathered up his feet into the couch, —and ceased to breathe and was gathered unto his people.
Cuando Jacob terminó de dar estas instrucciones levantó los pies en el lecho, respiró por última vez y se unió a sus antepasados en la muerte.
