Genesis 4
1 Now, the man, having come to know Eve his wife, —she conceived and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a Man, even Yahweh!
Adam pak poznal Evu ženu svou, kterážto počavši, porodila Kaina a řekla: Obdržela jsem muže na Hospodinu.
2 And she went on to bear his brother, Abel, —and Abel became a feeder of sheep, whereas Cain, was a tiller of the round.
A opět porodila bratra jeho Abele. I byl Abel pastýř ovcí, a Kain byl oráč.
3 So it came to pass, after certain days, that Cain brought in of the fruit of the ground, a present to Yahweh:
Po mnohých pak dnech stalo se, že obětoval Kain z úrody zemské obět Hospodinu.
4 Abel, also, even, he, brought in of the firstlings of his sheep, and of their fat, and Yahweh approved of Abel and of his present;
Ano i Abel také obětoval z prvorozených věcí stáda svého, a z tuku jejich. I vzhlédl Hospodin na Abele a na obět jeho.
5 but of Cain and his present, he approved not, —and it angered Cain greatly, and his countenance fell.
Na Kaina pak a na obět jeho nevzhlédl. Protož rozlítil se Kain náramně, a opadla tvář jeho.
6 So then Yahweh said unto Cain, —Wherefore hath it angered thee, and wherefore hath thy countenance fallen?
I řekl Hospodin Kainovi: Proč jsi se tak rozpálil hněvem? A proč jest opadla tvář tvá?
7 Shall it not, if thou do right, be lifted up? But if thou do not right, at the entrance a sin-bearer is lying, —Unto thee, moreover, shall be his longing, though, thou, rule over him.
Zdaliž nebudeš příjemný, budeš-li dobře činiti? Pakli nebudeš dobře činiti, hřích ve dveřích leží; a pod mocí tvou bude žádost jeho, a ty panovati budeš nad ním.
8 And Cain said unto Abel his brother Let us go into the field And it came to pass when they were in the field that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.
I mluvil Kain k Abelovi bratru svému. Stalo se pak, když byli na poli, že povstav Kain proti Abelovi bratru svému, zabil jej.
9 Then said Yahweh unto Cain, Where is Abel thy brother? And he said I know not, the keeper of my brother, am, I?
I řekl Hospodin Kainovi: Kdež jest Abel bratr tvůj? Kterýž odpověděl: Nevím. Zdaliž jsem já strážným bratra svého?
10 And he said, What hast thou done? With a voice, the shed-blood of thy brother is crying out to me from the ground,
I řekl Bůh: Co jsi učinil? Hlas krve bratra tvého volá ke mně z země.
11 Now therefore, accursed, art thou, —from the ground which hath opened her mouth, to receive the shed-blood of thy brother at thy hand.
Protož nyní zlořečený budeš i od té země, kteráž otevřela ústa svá, aby přijala krev bratra tvého z ruky tvé.
12 Though thou till the ground, it shall not go on to give its vigour to thee. A wanderer and a fugitive, shalt thou be in the earth.
Když budeš dělati zemi, nebude více vydávati moci své tobě; tulákem a běhounem budeš na zemi.
13 And Cain said unto Yahweh—Greater is my punishment than I can bear.
I řekl Kain Hospodinu: Většíť jest nepravost má, než aby mi odpuštěna býti mohla.
14 Lo! thou has driven me out, this day, from off the face of the ground And from thy face, shall I be hid, So shall I become a wanderer and a fugitive in the earth. And it shall come to pass, whosoever findeth me, will slay me.
Aj, vyháníš mne dnes z země této, a před tváří tvou skrývati se budu, a budu tulákem a běhounem na zemi. I přijde na to, že kdo mne koli nalezne, zabije mne.
15 And Yahweh said to him—Not so, whosoever slayeth Cain seven—fold, shall it be avenged. So Yahweh set, for Cain, a sign, that none finding him should smite him.
I řekl mu Hospodin: Zajisté kdo by koli zabil Kaina, nad tím sedmnásobně mštěno bude. Pročež vložil Hospodin znamení na Kaina, aby ho žádný nezabil, kdo by jej koli nalezl.
16 So Cain went forth from the presence of Yahweh, —and dwelt in the land of Nod, eastward of Eden.
Tedy odšed Kain od tváři Hospodinovy, bydlil v zemi Nód, k východní straně naproti Eden.
17 And Cain knew his wife, and she conceived, and bare Enoch, —Now it happened that he was building a city, so he called the name of the city, after the name of his son, Enoch.
Poznal pak Kain ženu svou, kterážto počala a porodila Enocha. I stavěl město, a nazval jméno města toho jménem syna svého Enoch.
18 And there was born to Enoch Irad, and, Irad, begat Mehujael, —and Mehujael, begat Methusael, —and Methusael, begat Lamech.
I narodil se Enochovi Irád, a Irád zplodil Maviaele, Maviael pak zplodil Matuzaele, a Matuzael zplodil Lámecha.
19 And Lamech took to himself two wives, —the name of the one, was Adah, and, the name of the second Zillah.
Vzal sobě pak Lámech dvě ženy; jméno jedné Ada, a jméno druhé Zilla.
20 And Adah bare Jabal, —he, was father of such as dwell in tents, and have cattle;
I porodila Ada Jábale, kterýž byl otec přebývajících v staních a stádo pasoucích.
21 and, the name of his brother, was Jubal, —he, was father of everyone handling lyre and flute,
A jméno bratra jeho Jubal; ten byl otec všech hrajících na harfu a nástroje hudebné.
22 And, as for Zillah, she also, bare Tubal-Cain, a sharpener of every cutting instrument of bronze and iron, —and, the sister of Tubal-Cain, was Naamah.
A Zilla také porodila Tubalkaina, kterýž byl řemeslník všelikého díla od mědi a od železa. Sestra pak Tubalkainova byla Noéma.
23 Then said Lamech to his wives, Adah and Zillah! hear ye my voice, Ye wives of Lamech! give ear to my tale, For a man, have I slain in dealing my wounds, Yea, a youth, in smiting my blows:
I řekl Lámech ženám svým, Adě a Zille: Slyšte hlas můj, ženy Lámechovy, poslouchejte řeči mé, že jsem zabil muže k ráně své a mládence k zsinalosti své.
24 If, sevenfold, be, the avenging of Cain, Then, of Lamech, seventy and seven.
Jestližeť sedmnásobně pomštěno bude pro Kaina, tedy pro Lámecha sedmdesátekrát sedmkrát.
25 And Adam again knew his wife, and she bare a son, and called his name Seth, —For God hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel, because Cain slew him!
Poznal pak ještě Adam ženu svou, i porodila syna a nazvala jméno jeho Set; nebo řekla: Dal mi Bůh jiné símě místo Abele, kteréhož zabil Kain.
26 And to Seth—to him also, was born a son, and he called his name Enosh, —then, was a beginning made, to call on the name of Yahweh.
Setovi pak také narodil se syn, a nazval jméno jeho Enos. Tehdáž začalo se vzývání jména Hospodinova.
