Genesis 39
1 Now, Joseph, was taken down to Egypt, —and Potiphar, courtier of Pharaoh, chief of the royal executioners, an Egyptian bought him, at the hand of the Ishmaelites, who had brought him down thither.
Und Joseph ward nach Ägypten hinabgebracht, und es kaufte ihn Potiphar, ein Hofbeamter Pharaos, Oberster der Leibwachen, ein ägyptischer Mann, aus der Hand der Ismaeliten, die ihn hinabgebracht hatten.
2 And it came to pass that Yahweh, was with Joseph, so that he became a prosperous man, —and was in the house of his lord the Egyptian.
Und Jehovah war mit Joseph, und er war ein Mann, dem es gelang; und er war im Hause seines Herrn, des Ägypters.
3 And his lord saw, that, Yahweh, was with him—and that whatsoever, he was doing, Yahweh, was causing to prosper in his hand.
Und sein Herr sah, daß Jehovah mit ihm war und alles, was er tat, Jehovah in seiner Hand gelingen ließ.
4 So Joseph found favour in his eyes and waited upon him, —and he made him overseer over his house, and all that he had, gave he into his hand.
Und Joseph fand Gnade in seinen Augen, und er tat ihm Dienst. Und er bestellte ihn über sein Haus und alles, was er hatte, gab er in seine Hand.
5 And it came to pass from the time that he made him overseer in his house and over all that he had, that Yahweh blessed the house of the Egyptian, for Joseph’s sake, —yea it came to pass, that the blessing of Yahweh, was with all that he had, in the house and in the field;
Und es geschah, von da an, daß er ihn über sein Haus und alles, was er hatte, bestellt hatte, da segnete Jehovah das Haus des Ägypters wegen Josephs; und der Segen Jehovahs war in allem, das er hatte im Haus und im Feld.
6 so that he left all that he had in the hand of Joseph, and took note with him of nothing, save only the bread which, he himself, was eating. And so it was that Joseph was comely in form and comely in countenance.
Und er ließ alles, das er hatte, in der Hand Josephs, und wußte bei ihm um nichts, als das Brot, das er aß; und Joseph war schön von Gestalt und schön von Ansehen.
7 And it came to pass after these things, that his lord’s wife lifted up her eyes unto Joseph, —and she said—Come! lie with me.
Und es geschah nach diesen Dingen, daß das Weib seines Herrn ihre Augen aufhob zu Joseph und zu ihm sprach: Liege bei mir.
8 And he refused and said unto his lord’s wife, Lo! my lord, taketh no note with me as to what is in the house, —but, all that pertaineth to him, hath he delivered into my hand:
Er aber weigerte sich und sprach zu dem Weibe seines Herrn: Siehe, mein Herr weiß um nichts bei mir, was im Hause ist, und hat alles, was er hat, in meine Hand gegeben.
9 There is no one greater in this house than I, neither hath he withheld from me anything, save only thyself in that thou, art his wife, —how, then could I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?
Es ist kein Größerer denn ich in diesem Hause, und nichts hat er von mir zurückgehalten, außer dir, weil du sein Weib bist; und warum sollte ich solch großes Böses tun, und wider Gott sündigen?
10 And it came to pass, that although she Spake unto Joseph day after day, yet hearkened he not unto her to lie beside her to be with her.
Und es geschah, daß sie mit Joseph redete Tag für Tag, er hörte aber nicht auf sie, daß er neben ihr läge und bei ihr wäre.
11 And it came to pass, when, on a certain day, he went into the house to attend to his business, —and there was no man of the household, there in the house,
Und es geschah eines Tages, daß er in das Haus kam, um sein Werk zu tun, und kein Mann von den Männern des Hauses war dort im Hause.
12 that she caught him by his garment, saying—Come! lie with me. Then left he his garment in her hand, and fled and gat forth outside,
Und sie erfaßte ihn an seinem Kleid und sprach: Liege bei mir! Er aber ließ sein Kleid in ihrer Hand und floh und ging hinaus.
13 And it came to pass when she saw that he had left his garment in her hand, —and fled forth outside,
Und es geschah, da sie sah, daß er sein Kleid in ihrer Hand ließ und hinausfloh,
14 that she cried out to the men of her house and spake to them, saying, Look ye! he hath brought in to us a Hebrew man to insult us, —He came in unto me, to lie with me, so I cried out with a loud voice.
Daß sie rief den Männern ihres Hauses und sprach zu ihnen und sagte: Seht, da brachte er einen hebräischen Mann zu uns herein, seinen Scherz mit uns zu treiben; er kam zu mir, um bei mir zu liegen. Ich aber rief mit großer Stimme.
15 And it came to pass, when he heard that I lifted high my voice, and cried out, then left he his garment beside me, and fled and gat forth outside.
Und es geschah, wie er hörte, daß ich meine Stimme erhob und rief, da ließ er sein Kleid bei mir, und floh und ging hinaus.
16 So she laid by his garment beside her, —until his lord should come into his house,
Und sie legte sein Kleid neben sich nieder, bis sein Herr in sein Haus kam;
17 Then spake she unto him, according to these words, saying, —He hath been in unto me—the Hebrew servant whom thou didst bring in to us—to insult me.
Und sie redete zu ihm dieselben Worte und sprach: Der hebräische Knecht, den du zu uns hereingebracht, ist zu mir hereingekommen, um seinen Scherz mit mir zu treiben.
18 And it came to pass when I lifted high my voice and cried out, then left he his garment beside me, and fled outside.
Und es geschah, wie ich meine Stimme erhob und rief, da ließ er sein Kleid neben mir und floh hinaus.
19 And it came to pass, when his lord heard the words of his wife which she spake unto him saying, According to these words, hath thy servant done to me, Then was kindled his anger.
Und es geschah, als sein Herr die Worte seines Weibes hörte, die sie zu ihm redete, indem sie sprach: Solches hat mir dein Knecht getan, da entbrannte sein Zorn.
20 So Joseph’s lord took him and delivered him up to the prison: the place where, the prisoners of the king, were imprisoned, —so he was there, in the prison.
Und Josephs Herr nahm ihn und gab ihn in das Gefängnishaus, den Ort, wo die Gebundenen des Königs gebunden waren; und er war dort in dem Gefängnishaus.
21 And it came to pass that, Yahweh, was with Joseph, and extended unto him lovingkindness, —and gave him his favour in the eyes of the chief of the prison.
Aber Jehovah war mit Joseph und neigte ihm Barmherzigkeit zu, und gab ihm Gnade in den Augen des Obersten des Gefängnishauses.
22 So the chief of the prison delivered up, into Joseph’s hand all the prisoners who were in the prison, —and of all that was doing there, he, was the doer.
Und der Oberste des Gefängnishauses gab in Josephs Hand alle Gebundenen, die im Gefängnishause waren, und alles, was sie dort taten, das tat er.
23 After nothing, was the chief of the prison looking, of whatever was in his hand, —in that Yahweh, was with him, and whatsoever, he was doing, Yahweh, was causing to prosper.
Der Oberste des Gefängnishauses sah nach nichts, von allem, das in seiner Hand war, weil Jehovah mit ihm war, und was er tat, Jehovah gelingen ließ.
