Genesis 36
1 Now these, are the generations of Esau the same, is Edom.
Questa è la discendenza di Esaù, cioè Edom.
2 Esau, took his wives of the daughters of Canaan, —Even Adah, daughter of Elon, the Hittite, And Oholibamah daughter of Anah, son of Zibeon, the Hivite;

3 And Basemath daughter of Ishmael sister of Nebaioth.

4 So Adah bare to Esau, Eliphaz, and, Basemath, bare Reuel;
Ada partorì ad Esaù Elifaz, Basemat partorì Reuel,
5 and Oholibamah, bare Jeush and Jalam and Korah. These, are the sons of Esau, who were born to him in the land of Canaan.
Oolibama partorì Ieus, Iaalam e Core. Questi sono i figli di Esaù, che gli nacquero nel paese di Canaan.
6 Then took Esau his wives, and his sons, and his daughters and all the souls of his house, and his herds and all his beasts, and all his possessions whatsoever he had gathered in the land of Canaan, —and went into a land, away from the face of Jacob his brother,

7 For their substance had become too great for them to dwell together, —neither could the land of their sojournings sustain them, because of their herds,
Infatti i loro possedimenti erano troppo grandi perché essi potessero abitare insieme e il territorio, dove essi soggiornavano, non poteva sostenerli per causa del loro bestiame.
8 So Esau dwelt in Mount Seir, Esau, is Edom.
Così Esaù si stabilì sulle montagne di Seir. Ora Esaù è Edom.
9 And, these, are the generations of Esau father of Edom, —in Mount Seir.
Questa è la discendenza di Esaù, padre degli Idumei, nelle montagne di Seir.
10 These, are the name of the sons of Esau, —Eliphaz son of Adah wife of Esau, Reuel son of Basemath wife of Esau.
Questi sono i nomi dei figli di Esaù: Elifaz, figlio di Ada, moglie di Esaù; Reuel, figlio di Basemat, moglie di Esaù.
11 Then came the sons of Eliphaz to be, —Teman, Omar, Zepho, and Gatam, and Kenaz.
I figli di Elifaz furono: Teman, Omar, Zefo, Gatam, Kenaz.
12 Now, Timna, became the concubine of Eliphaz son of Esau, and she bare to Eliphaz Amalek. These, are the sons of Adah, wife of Esau.
Elifaz, figlio di Esaù, aveva per concubina Timna, la quale ad Elifaz partorì Amalek. Questi sono i figli di Ada, moglie di Esaù.
13 And, these, are the sons of Reuel, Nahath and Zerah Shammah and Mizzah, —These were the sons of Basemath wife of Esau.
Questi sono i figli di Reuel: Naat e Zerach, Samma e Mizza. Questi furono i figli di Basemat, moglie di Esaù.
14 And, these, were the sons of Oholibamah daughter of Anah, son of Zibeon, wife of—Esau, —she bare to Esau Jeush, and Jalam, and Korah.
Questi furono i figli di Oolibama, moglie di Esaù, figlia di Ana, figlio di Zibeon; essa partorì a Esaù Ieus, Iaalam e Core.
15 These, are the chiefs of the sons of Esau: —The sons of Eliphaz, firstborn of Esau, —Chief Teman, chief Omar, chief Zepho, chief Kenaz,
Questi sono i capi dei figli di Esaù: i figli di Elifaz primogenito di Esaù: il capo di Teman, il capo di Omar, il capo di Zefo, il capo di Kenaz,
16 chief Korah, chief Gatam, chief Amalek. These are the chiefs of Eliphaz in the land of Edom, these, the sons of Adah.

17 And these, are the sons of Reuel, son of Esau—Chief Nahath, chief Zerah, chief Shammah, chief Mizzah, —These are the chiefs of Reuel, in the land of Edom, these, the sons of Basemath wife of Esau.
Questi i figli di Reuel, figlio di Esaù: il capo di Naat, il capo di Zerach, il capo di Samma, il capo di Mizza. Questi sono i capi di Reuel nel paese di Edom; questi sono i figli di Basemat, moglie di Esaù.
18 And these, are the sons of Oholibamah wife of Esau, Chief Jeush chief Jalam, chief Korah, —These are the chiefs of Oholibamah daughter of Anah wife of Esau.
Questi sono i figli di Oolibama, moglie di Esaù: il capo di Ieus, il capo di Iaalam, il capo di Core. Questi sono i capi di Oolibama, figlia di Ana, moglie di Esaù.
19 These, are the sons of Esau, and, these, their chiefs—the same, is Edom.
Questi sono i figli di Esaù e questi i loro capi. Egli è Edom.
20 These, are the sons of Seir, the Horite, who were dwelling in the land, —Lotan and Shobal and Zibeon and Anah;
Questi sono i figli di Seir l'Hurrita, che abitano il paese: Lotan, Sobal, Zibeon, Ana,
21 and Dishon and Ezer and Dishan, —These, are the chiefs of the Horites the sons of Seir, in the land of Edom.

22 Then came the sons of Lotan to be, Hori and Hemam, —And, the sister of Lotan was Timna.

23 And, these, are the sons of Shobal, Alvan and Manahath, and Ebal, —Shepho, and Onam.

24 And, these, are the sons of Zibeon: Both Aiah and Anah, —The same, is the Anah that found the warm springs in the desert, as he fed the asses of Zibeon his father.

25 And these are the sons of Anah Dishon, —and Oholibamah, is daughter of Anah.

28 These, are the sons of Dishan, —Uz and Aran.

29 These, are the chiefs of the Horites, —Chief Lotan, chief Shobal, chief Zibeon, chief Anah;

30 chief Dishon, chief Ezer, chief Dishan. These, are the chiefs of the Horites, after their chiefs in the land of Seir.

31 And, these, are the kings, who reigned in the land of Edom, —before there reigned a king of the sons of Israel:
Questi sono i re che regnarono nel paese di Edom, prima che regnasse un re degli Israeliti.
32 There reigned in Edom, Bela, son of Beor, —and the name of his city, was Dinhabah.
Regnò dunque in Edom Bela, figlio di Beor, e la sua città si chiama Dinaba.
33 Then died Bela, —and there reigned in his stead, Jobab son of Zerah, from Bozrah.
Poi morì Bela e regnò al suo posto Iobab, figlio di Zerach, da Bosra.
34 Then died Jobab, —and there reigned in his stead, Husham, from the land of the Temanites.
Poi morì Iobab e regnò al suo posto Usam, del territorio dei Temaniti.
35 Then died Husham, —and there reigned in his stead, Hadad, son of Bedad, who smote Midian in the field of Moab, and, the name of his city, was Avith.

36 Then died Hadad, —and there reigned in his stead, Samlah from Masrekah.

37 Then died Samlah, —and there reigned in his stead, Shaul, from Rohoboth of the River.

38 Then died Shaul, —and there reigned in his stead, Baal-hanan, son of Achbor.

39 Then died Baal-hanan son of Achbor, and there reigned in his stead Hadar, and the name of his city, was Pau, —and, the name of his wife, Mehetabel, daughter of Matred, daughter of Me-zahab.
Poi morì Baal-Canan, figlio di Acbor, e regnò al suo posto Adar: la sua città si chiama Pau e la moglie si chiamava Meetabel, figlia di Matred, da Me-Zaab.
40 These then are the names of the chiefs of Esau after their families, after their places by their names, —Chief Timnah, chief Alvah chief Jetheth;

41 chief Oholibamah, chief Elah, chief Pinon;

42 chief Kenaz, chief Teman, chief Mibzar;
il capo di Kenan, il capo di Teman, il capo di Mibsar,
43 chief Magdiel, chief Iram. These, are the chiefs of Edom—after their dwellings in the land of their possession, the same, is Esau, father of Edom.
il capo di Magdiel, il capo di Iram. Questi sono i capi di Edom secondo le loro sedi nel territorio di loro proprietà. E' appunto questo Esaù il padre degli Idumei.
