< Genesis 25 >
1 And Abraham took another wife and her name, was Keturah;
Abrahaamis niitii biraa kan maqaan ishee Qexuuraa jedhamu fuudhe.
2 and she bare to him Zimran, and Yokshan, and Medan, and Midian, —and Ishbak, and Shuah.
Isheenis Zimraan, Yoqshaan, Medaan, Midiyaan, Yishbaaqii fi Shuwaa isaaf deesse.
3 And, Yokshan, begat Sheba and Dedan, —and, the sons of Dedan, were Asshurim and Letushim, and Leummim.
Yoqshaan Shebaa fi Dedaan dhalche; ilmaan Dedaan immoo Ashuurim, Letuushimotaa fi Leʼumoota turan.
4 And the sons of Midian, Ephah and Epher and Hanoch, and Abida. and Eldaah, —all these, were the sons of Keturah.
Ilmaan Midiyaan Eefaa, Eefer, Henook, Abiidaa fi Eldaaʼaa turan. Warri kunneen hundi sanyiiwwan Qexuuraa ti.
5 And Abraham gave all that he had to Isaac;
Abrahaam waan qabu hundumaa Yisihaaqiif kenne.
6 but, to the sons of the concubines whom Abraham had, Abraham gave gifts, —and then sent them away from Isaac his son while he himself yet lived, eastward unto the land of the east.
Ilmaan saajjatoowwan isaatiif garuu utuma lubbuun jiruu kennaa kenneefii ilma isaa Yisihaaq biraa gara biyya baʼa biiftuutti isaan erge.
7 Now, these, are the days of the years of the life of Abraham which he lived—a hundred and seventy-five years.
Abrahaam waggaa dhibba tokkoo fi torbaatamii shan jiraate.
8 So Abraham breathed his last, and died in a fine old age, old and satisfied, —and was gathered unto his people,
Innis umurii dheeraa fi jireenya gaarii jiraatee dulloomee hafuura dhumaa baafatee duʼe; saba isaattis dabalame.
9 And Isaac and Ishmael his sons buried him, in the cave of Machpelah, —in the field of Ephron son of Zohar the Hittite, which is over against Mamre;
Ilmaan isaa Yisihaaqii fi Ishmaaʼeel lafa qotiisaa Efroon ilma Zoohar namicha gosa Heeti sanaa keessatti holqa Makfelaa kan Mamree biratti argamutti isa awwaalan.
10 the field which Abraham purchased of the sons of Heth, —there, was buried Abraham, with Sarah his wife.
Lafti qotiisaa sunis kan Abrahaam Heetota irraa bitatee dha; Abrahaamis achitti niitii isaa Saaraa biratti awwaalame.
11 And it came to pass after the death of Abraham, that God blessed Isaac his son, —and Isaac dwelt by Beer-lahai-roi.
Erga Abrahaam duʼee booddee Waaqni ilma isaa Yisihaaqin eebbise; Yisihaaqis Beʼeer Lahaayirooʼii bira jiraate.
12 Now, these, are the generations of Ishmael son of Abraham, —whom hagar the Egyptian woman the handmaid of Sarah bare to Abraham;
Seenaan maatii Ishmaaʼeel ilma Abrahaam kan Aggaar garbittiin Saaraa intalli biyya Gibxi sun Abrahaamiif deesse sanaa kana.
13 and these, are the names of the sons of Ishmael, by their names after their generations, —the firstborn of Ishmael, Nebaioth, and Kedar and Adbeel and Mibsam;
Maqaan ilmaan Ishmaaʼeel kan akkuma dhaloota isaaniitti tartiibaan barreeffame kana: Nabaayooti ilma Ishmaaʼeel hangafticha, Qeedaar, Adbiʼeel, Mibsaami,
14 and Mishma and Dumah, and Massa;
Mishmaa, Duumaa, Maasaa,
15 Hadad, and Tema, Jetur, Naphish, and Kedemah:
Hadaad, Teemaa, Yexuur, Naafiishii fi Qeedmaa.
16 these, same, are the sons of Ishmael and these, their names, by their villages and by their encampments, —twelve princes, after their tribes.
Jarri kunneen ilmaan Ishmaaʼeel; maqaawwan kunneenis akkuma gandootaa fi iddoo qubata isaaniitti maqaawwan bulchitoota gosoota kudha lamaanii ti.
17 And these, are the years of the life of Ishmael, a hundred and thirty-seven years, —and he breathed his last and died, and was gathered unto his people.
Ishmaaʼeel waggaa dhibba tokkoo fi soddomii torba jiraate; innis hafuura dhumaa baafatee duʼe; saba isaattis dabalame.
18 And they stretched their habitations from Havilah as far as to Shur, which is over against Egypt, as thou goest in towards Assyria, —over against all his brethren, he settled down.
Sanyiin isaa immoo daangaa Gibxi bira, karaa Asooritti geessu irra, lafa Hawiilaa jalqabee hamma Shuuriitti jiru irra jiraatan. Isaanis obboloota isaanii hundatti diina taʼanii jiraatan.
19 And, these, are the generations of Isaac, son of Abraham, —Abraham, begat Isaac;
Seenaan maatii Yisihaaq ilma Abrahaam kana. Abrahaam Yisihaaqin dhalche;
20 and it came to pass that, Isaac, was forty years old, when he took Rebekah daughter of Bethuel the Syrian, of the Plain of Syria, —sister of Laban the Syrian. to himself to wife.
Yisihaaq yeroo Ribqaa fuudhetti nama waggaa afurtamaa ture; Ribqaan kunis intala Betuuʼeel namicha Arraam kan kaaba dhiʼa Phaadaan Arraamiitii fi obboleettii Laabaa namicha Arraam sanaa ti.
21 So then Isaac made entreaty unto Yahweh in behalf of his wife, for she was, barren, —and Yahweh suffered himself to be entreated by him, and Rebekah his wife conceived.
Yisihaaq sababii niitiin isaa dhabduu turteef Waaqayyo isheef kadhate. Waaqayyos kadhannaa isaatiif deebii kennee niitiin isaa Ribqaani ulfoofte.
22 And the sons within her struggled together, so she said—If so, wherefore now am, I, [thus]? And she went to seek Yahweh.
Daaʼimmanis garaa ishee keessatti wal dhiibaa turan; isheenis, “Wanni kun maaliif natti dhufe?” jette; kanaafuu Waaqayyo gaafachuu dhaqxe.
23 And Yahweh said to her. Two nations, are in thy womb, And two races, from thy body, shall be parted, —And, one race, shall be stronger, than the other race, And the elder, shall serve the younger.
Waaqayyo immoo akkana jedheen; “Saboota lamatu gadameessa kee keessa jira; uummanni lamaan ati deessus gargari baʼu; sabni tokko saba kaan irra ni jabaata; inni hangafni isa quxisuu tajaajila.”
24 Then were fulfilled her days to bring forth, —and lo! twins in her womb.
Yeroo daʼumsi ishee gaʼetti ilmaan lakkuutu gadameessa ishee keessa ture.
25 And the first came forth red, all over, as a mantle of hair, —so they called his name, Esau,
Mucaan jalqabatti dhalate diimaa dha; dhagni isaa guutuun uffata rifeensa qabu fakkaata ture; kanaafuu Esaawu jedhanii isa moggaasan.
26 And, after that, came forth his brother with his hand fast hold of the heel of Esau, so they called his name Jacob—Now, Isaac, was sixty years old when she bare them,
Kana booddee obboleessi isaa koomee Esaawu harkaan qabatee gad baʼe; maqaan isaas Yaaqoob jedhame. Yeroo Ribqaan isaan deessetti, Yisihaaq nama waggaa jaatamaa ture.
27 And when the youths grew up, it came to pass that Esau was a man skilled in game a man of the field, —but, Jacob, was a ready man, dwelling in tents.
Ijoolleen kunis ni guddattan; Esaawu adamsaa beekamaa fi nama bakkee ooluu taʼe; Yaaqoob garuu nama calʼisaa dunkaana keessa oolu taʼe.
28 And, Isaac, loved, Esau, because of the game he put in his mouth, —but, Rebekah, was a lover of Jacob!
Yisihaaq waan foon bineensa bosonaa miʼeeffateef Esaawun jaallate; Ribqaan garuu Yaaqoobin jaallatte.
29 And Jacob had boiled pottage, —when Esau came in from the field, he, being famished.
Gaaf tokko utuu Yaaqoob ittoo qopheessaa jiruu Esaawu akka malee beelaʼee bakkeedhaa dhufe.
30 So Esau said unto Jacob. Do let me devour some of the red—this red, for, famished, I am. For this cause, was his name called Edom.
Innis Yaaqoobiin, “Ani akka malee beelaʼeeraatii, mee ittoo diimaa sana irraa xinnoo naa kenni!” jedhe. Sababiin inni Edoom jedhameefis kanuma.
31 And Jacob said, —Come sell, just now, thy birthright unto me.
Yaaqoob immoo deebisee, “Dura mirga hangafummaa keetii natti gurguri kaa” jedhe.
32 And Esau said, Here am I, on the point of dying, —wherefore, then, should I, have, a birthright?
Esaawus, “Kunoo, ani duʼuu gaʼeera; yoos mirgi hangafummaa maal na fayyada ree?” jedhe.
33 And Jacob said, Come swear to me just now! And he sware to him, —and sold his birthright to Jacob.
Yaaqoob garuu, “Duraan dursii naa kakadhu” jedheen; akkasiin inni kakatee mirga hangafummaa isaa Yaaqoobitti gurgurate.
34 And Jacob, having given to Esau bread and a dish of lentils, he did eat and drink and rose up, and went his way, —thus Esau despised his birthright!
Ergasiis Yaaqoob buddeenaa fi ittoo misiraa Esaawuuf kenne; innis nyaatee dhugee kaʼee achii deeme. Esaawus akkasiin mirga hangafummaa isaa tuffate.
