Genesis 24
1 Now, Abraham, was old, far gone in days, —and, Yahweh, had blessed Abraham, in all things.
അബ്രാഹാം വൃദ്ധനായി വളരെ പ്രായാധിക്യത്തിലെത്തി. യഹോവ അബ്രാഹാമിനെ എല്ലാറ്റിലും അനുഗ്രഹിച്ചിരുന്നു.
2 So Abraham said unto his servant, elder of his house, ruler of all that he had, —Place, I pray thee thy hand under my thigh;
അബ്രാഹാം തന്റെ വസ്തുവകകളുടെയെല്ലാം ചുമതല വഹിച്ചിരുന്ന ഏറ്റവും പ്രധാനിയായ ദാസനോട്: “നിന്റെ കൈ എന്റെ തുടയിൻകീഴിൽ വെക്കുക.
3 that I may put thee on oath, by Yahweh God of the heavens and God of the earth—That thou wilt not take a wife for my son, from among the daughters of the Canaanites in the midst of whom, I, am dwelling:
ഞാൻ ഇപ്പോൾ കനാന്യരുടെ മധ്യേ പാർക്കുന്നു. നീ എന്റെ മകനു ഭാര്യയായി ഈ കനാന്യപുത്രിമാരിൽ ഒരുവളെ എടുക്കാതെ,
4 but unto my own land and unto my own kindred, wilt go, —So shalt thou take a wife for my son—for Isaac.
എന്റെ സ്വദേശത്ത്, സ്വജനങ്ങളുടെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്ന് എന്റെ മകനായ യിസ്ഹാക്കിനു ഭാര്യയെ തെരഞ്ഞെടുക്കുമെന്ന് സ്വർഗത്തിനും ഭൂമിക്കും ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ നാമത്തിൽ ശപഥംചെയ്യുക” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
5 And the servant said unto him, Peradventure the woman may not be willing to follow me into this land, —May I take back thy son, into the land from whence thou camest?
ദാസൻ അദ്ദേഹത്തോട്: “ആ സ്ത്രീക്ക് എന്നോടൊപ്പം ഈ ദേശത്തേക്കു വരുന്നതിനു സമ്മതമില്ലെങ്കിലോ? അപ്പോൾ ഞാൻ അങ്ങു വിട്ടുപോന്ന ദേശത്തേക്ക് അങ്ങയുടെ മകനെ കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടുപോകണമോ?” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
6 And Abraham said unto him, —Beware that thou do not take back my son thither!
അതിന് അബ്രാഹാം മറുപടി പറഞ്ഞത്, “നീ എന്റെ പുത്രനെ ആ ദേശത്തേക്കു കൊണ്ടുപോകാൻ പാടില്ല.
7 Yahweh, God of the heavens, and God of the earth, who took me out of the house of my father, and out of the land of my kindred, and, who spake to me, and who sware to me, saying, To thy seed, will I give this land, he, will send his messenger before thee, so shalt thou take a wife for my son from thence.
എന്നെ എന്റെ പിതൃഭവനത്തിൽനിന്നും സ്വദേശത്തുനിന്നും കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടുവരികയും എന്നോടു സംസാരിക്കുകയും ‘ഞാൻ ഈ ദേശം നിന്റെ സന്തതിക്കു തരും’ എന്ന് ആണയിട്ടു വാഗ്ദാനം നൽകുകയും ചെയ്ത, സ്വർഗത്തിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ, അവിടത്തെ ദൂതനെ നിനക്കുമുമ്പായി അയയ്ക്കും; അങ്ങനെ അവിടെനിന്ന് എന്റെ മകനു ഭാര്യയെ എടുക്കാൻ നിനക്കു സാധിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യും.
8 But if unwilling be the woman to follow thee, then shalt thou be clear from this mine oath, —Only my son, shalt thou not take back thither
സ്ത്രീ നിന്നോടുകൂടെ ഇങ്ങോട്ടുവരുന്നതിനു വിസമ്മതിക്കുന്നെങ്കിൽ എന്നോടുള്ള ഈ ശപഥത്തിൽനിന്ന് നീ ഒഴിഞ്ഞിരിക്കും. എന്നാൽ എന്റെ മകനെ ഒരിക്കലും അവിടേക്കു കൊണ്ടുപോകരുത്.”
9 So the servant placed his hand, under the thigh of Abraham, his lord, —and sware to him, over this thing.
ആ ദാസൻ തന്റെ കൈ യജമാനനായ അബ്രാഹാമിന്റെ തുടയിൻകീഴിൽ വെച്ച്, ഇക്കാര്യം സംബന്ധിച്ച് അദ്ദേഹത്തോടു ശപഥംചെയ്തു.
10 Then took the servant ten camels, from among the camels of his lord, and went his way, —all the goods of his master being in his hand, —so be mounted, and went his way unto Mesopotamia, unto the city of Nahor.
പിന്നെ ആ ദാസൻ യജമാനന്റെ എല്ലാവിധ വിശിഷ്ടവസ്തുക്കളും ശേഖരിച്ച്, അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ പത്ത് ഒട്ടകങ്ങളുമായി പുറപ്പെട്ടു. അബ്രാഹാമിന്റെ ദാസൻ അരാം-നെഹറയിമിലേക്കു യാത്രതിരിച്ച് നാഹോരിന്റെ പട്ടണത്തിൽ എത്തി.
11 And he made the camels kneel down outside the city, against the well of water, —at the time of evening, at the time of the coming forth of the women that drew water,
പട്ടണത്തിനു പുറത്തുള്ള കിണറ്റിനരികെ അദ്ദേഹം ഒട്ടകങ്ങളെ നിർത്തി; അപ്പോൾ സ്ത്രീകൾ വെള്ളം കോരാൻ പുറത്തേക്കു പോകുന്ന സന്ധ്യയോടടുത്ത സമയമായിരുന്നു.
12 Then he said, O Yahweh, God of my lord Abraham! I pray thee cause it to fall out before me today, that thou deal in lovingkindness with my lord Abraham.
പിന്നെ അദ്ദേഹം പ്രാർഥിച്ചു: “എന്റെ യജമാനനായ അബ്രാഹാമിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവേ, എന്റെ യജമാനനായ അബ്രാഹാമിനോടു കരുണതോന്നി ഇന്ന് എനിക്കു വിജയം തരണമേ.
13 Here am, I, stationed by the fountain of water, —and, the daughters of the men of the city, are coming forth to draw water:
ഇതാ, ഞാൻ ഇവിടെ ഈ കിണറ്റിനരികെ നിൽക്കുന്നു; പട്ടണവാസികളുടെ പുത്രിമാർ വെള്ളം കോരാൻ വരുന്നു.
14 so it shall come to pass that the young woman unto whom I shall say. Let down pray. thy pitcher that I may drink, and she shall say, Drink, and to thy camels also, will I give to drink, that, her! hast thou appointed for thy servant for Isaac, And, hereby, shall I get to know, that thou hast dealt in lovingkindness with my lord!
ഞാൻ ഒരു പെൺകുട്ടിയോട്, ‘നിന്റെ കുടം ചരിച്ച് എനിക്കു കുടിക്കാൻ തരണം’ എന്നു പറയുമ്പോൾ അവൾ, ‘കുടിച്ചുകൊള്ളൂ, ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളുടെ ഒട്ടകങ്ങൾക്കും വെള്ളം തരാം’ എന്നു പറയുന്നെങ്കിൽ അവൾതന്നെ ആയിരിക്കട്ടെ അവിടത്തെ ദാസനായ യിസ്ഹാക്കിനുവേണ്ടി അവിടന്നു തെരഞ്ഞെടുത്തവൾ. എന്റെ യജമാനനോട് അങ്ങു കരുണ കാണിച്ചെന്ന് ഞാൻ ഇതിനാൽ ഗ്രഹിച്ചുകൊള്ളാം.”
15 And it came to pass, ere yet, he, had done speaking, that lo! Rebekah, was coming forth who had been born to Bethuel son of Milcah, wife of Nahor, brother of Abraham, —with her pitcher upon her shoulder,
അബ്രാഹാമിന്റെ ദാസൻ പ്രാർഥിച്ചുതീരുന്നതിനുമുമ്പ് റിബേക്കാ തോളിൽ കുടവുമായി വന്നു. അവൾ അബ്രാഹാമിന്റെ സഹോദരനായ നാഹോരിന്റെ ഭാര്യയായ മിൽക്കായുടെ മകനായ ബെഥൂവേലിന്റെ മകളായിരുന്നു.
16 Now the young woman! was of very pleasing appearance, a virgin whom, no man, had known, —and she went down unto the fountain, and filled her pitcher and came up.
ആ പെൺകുട്ടി അതീവസുന്ദരിയും കന്യകയും പുരുഷസ്പർശമേൽക്കാത്തവളും ആയിരുന്നു. അവൾ കിണറ്റിലേക്ക് ഇറങ്ങിച്ചെന്നു കുടം നിറച്ചു കയറിവന്നു.
17 And the servant ran to meet her, —and said, I pray thee let me drink a little water out of thy pitcher.
ആ ദാസൻ തിടുക്കത്തിൽ അവളുടെ അടുത്തേക്കുചെന്ന്, “ദയവായി നിന്റെ കുടത്തിൽനിന്ന്, കുറച്ചുവെള്ളം എനിക്കു കുടിക്കാൻ തരണം” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
18 And she said, Drink my lord, —And she hastened and lowered her pitcher on her hand and let him drink.
“പ്രഭോ, കുടിച്ചാലും” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ട് അവൾ പെട്ടെന്ന് കുടം കൈകളിൽ താഴ്ത്തി അയാൾക്കു കുടിക്കാൻ കൊടുത്തു.
19 And when she had done giving him drink, —she said For thy camels also, will I draw, until they have done drinking.
അദ്ദേഹത്തിനു കുടിക്കാൻ കൊടുത്തതിനുശേഷം അവൾ, “ഞാൻ അങ്ങയുടെ ഒട്ടകങ്ങൾക്കും കുടിക്കാൻ വെള്ളം വേണ്ടുവോളം കോരിക്കൊടുക്കാം” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
20 So she hastened and emptied her pitcher into the drinking-trough, and ran again unto the well, to draw, —and she drew for all his camels.
അവൾ കുടത്തിലെ വെള്ളം പെട്ടെന്നു തൊട്ടിയിലേക്ക് ഒഴിച്ചിട്ട് വെള്ളം കോരാൻ വീണ്ടും കിണറ്റിലേക്ക് ഓടിയിറങ്ങി; അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ ഒട്ടകങ്ങൾക്കെല്ലാം വെള്ളം കോരിക്കൊടുത്തു.
21 Now the man, was eagerly watching her, —keeping silence to see—whether Yahweh had prospered his way., or not.
യഹോവ, തന്റെ യാത്ര വിജയകരമാക്കിയോ എന്നു ഗ്രഹിക്കേണ്ടതിന് ആ ദാസൻ ഒന്നും ഉരിയാടാതെ, അവളെ സൂക്ഷ്മമായി ശ്രദ്ധിച്ചു.
22 And it came to pass when the camels had done drinking, that the man took a ring of gold, half a shekel its weight, —and two bracelets for her hands, ten of gold their weight;
ഒട്ടകങ്ങൾ വെള്ളം കുടിച്ചുകഴിഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ അയാൾ ഒരു ബെക്കാ തൂക്കമുള്ള ഒരു സ്വർണമൂക്കുത്തിയും പത്തുശേക്കേൽ തൂക്കമുള്ള രണ്ടു സ്വർണവളയും പുറത്തെടുത്തു.
23 and said Whose daughter art, thou? I pray thee, tell me. Is there in the house of thy father a place for us to tarry the night?
“നീ ആരുടെ മകളാണ്? ഞങ്ങൾക്കു രാപാർക്കാൻ നിന്റെ പിതാവിന്റെ ഭവനത്തിൽ ഇടമുണ്ടോ? എന്നോടു ദയവായി പറയുക” അയാൾ പറഞ്ഞു.
24 And she said unto him, Daughter of Bethuel, am, I,—[Bethuel] son of Milcah whom she bare to Nahor.
അവൾ അയാളോട്: “നാഹോരിനു മിൽക്കാ പ്രസവിച്ച മകനായ ബെഥൂവേലിന്റെ മകളാണു ഞാൻ” എന്ന് ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
25 And she said unto him, Both straw and fodder in plenty, have we, —also a place to tarry the night.
“ഞങ്ങളുടെ വീട്ടിൽ ധാരാളം വൈക്കോലും തീറ്റയും ഉണ്ട്, നിങ്ങൾക്കു രാത്രി കഴിച്ചുകൂട്ടാൻ ഇടവും ഉണ്ട്,” അവൾ കൂട്ടിച്ചേർത്തു.
26 Then the man bowed his head, and bent himself down unto Yahweh;
അപ്പോൾ അയാൾ കുനിഞ്ഞ് യഹോവയെ നമസ്കരിച്ചുകൊണ്ട്,
27 and said, Blessed be Yahweh. God of my lord Abraham, who hath not withdrawn his lovingkindness and his faithfulness, from my lord, —I—being in the way, Yahweh led me unto the house of the brethren of my lord!
“എന്റെ യജമാനനായ അബ്രാഹാമിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ വാഴ്ത്തപ്പെട്ടവൻ, എന്റെ യജമാനനോടുള്ള അവിടത്തെ ദയയും വിശ്വസ്തതയും അവിടന്ന് ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചിട്ടില്ല. യഹോവ എന്റെ യാത്രയിൽ എന്റെ യജമാനന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാരുടെ വീട്ടിലേക്ക് എന്നെ നയിച്ചല്ലോ!” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
28 And the young woman ran, and told the household of her mother, —according to these words.
ആ പെൺകുട്ടി ഓടിച്ചെന്ന് തന്റെ അമ്മയുടെ ഭവനത്തിലുള്ളവരോട് ഈ കാര്യങ്ങൾ പറഞ്ഞു.
29 Now, Rebekah, had a brother, whose name, was Laban, —so Laban ran unto the man outside, unto the fountain.
റിബേക്കയ്ക്ക് ലാബാൻ എന്നു പേരുള്ള ഒരു സഹോദരൻ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു. സഹോദരിയുടെ മൂക്കുത്തിയും കൈയിൽ വളയും കാണുകയും ആ മനുഷ്യൻ റിബേക്കയോടു പറഞ്ഞകാര്യം അവളിൽനിന്ന് കേൾക്കുകയും ചെയ്തനിമിഷംതന്നെ അവൻ തിടുക്കത്തിൽ നീരുറവയുടെ അടുക്കൽ നിന്നിരുന്ന ആ മനുഷ്യന്റെ അടുത്തേക്കുപോയി. അദ്ദേഹം, അവിടെ കിണറ്റിൻകരയിൽ ഒട്ടകങ്ങളുടെ അടുക്കൽ നിൽക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടു.
30 And it came to pass, when he saw the ring, and the bracelets on the hands of his sister, and when he heard the words of Rebekah his sister saying, Thus, did the man speak unto me, that he came unto the man, and lo! he was standing by the camels near the fountain;
31 and he said, Come in. thou blessed of Yahweh, —Wherefore shouldst thou stand outside, when I have made ready the house and a place for the camels?
“യഹോവയാൽ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കപ്പെട്ടവനേ, അകത്തുവരിക, എന്തിനു പുറത്തു നിൽക്കുന്നു? ഞാൻ ഭവനവും ഒട്ടകങ്ങൾക്കു സ്ഥലവും ഒരുക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു,” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
32 So the man came in towards the house, and ungirded the camels, —and there was given him straw and fodder for the camels, and water for bathing his own feet and the feet of the men who were with him;
അങ്ങനെ ആ മനുഷ്യൻ ഭവനത്തിലേക്കു ചെന്നു; ഒട്ടകങ്ങളുടെ ഭാരം ഇറക്കിവെച്ചു. അവയ്ക്കു വൈക്കോലും തീറ്റയും കൊണ്ടുവന്നു; അദ്ദേഹത്തിനും അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ ആളുകൾക്കും കാൽകഴുകാൻ വെള്ളവും കൊണ്ടുവന്നു.
33 and [food] was set before him to eat, But he said, I cannot eat, until I have spoken my words. And he said—Speak!
അതിനുശേഷം അദ്ദേഹത്തിനു ഭക്ഷണം വിളമ്പി. എന്നാൽ, “നിങ്ങളോടു പറയാനുള്ളതു പറയുന്നതിനുമുമ്പ് ഞാൻ ആഹാരം കഴിക്കുകയില്ല” എന്ന് അദ്ദേഹം പറഞ്ഞു. “എങ്കിൽ ഞങ്ങളോടു പറയൂ” ലാബാൻ പറഞ്ഞു.
34 Then said he, —Servant of Abraham, am I.
അപ്പോൾ അദ്ദേഹം പറഞ്ഞു: “ഞാൻ അബ്രാഹാമിന്റെ ദാസൻ.
35 Now, Yahweh, having blessed my lord exceedingly, and made him great, —and given him flocks and herds and silver and gold, and men-servants and maid-servants, and camels, and asses,
എന്റെ യജമാനനെ യഹോവ സമൃദ്ധമായി അനുഗ്രഹിച്ചു. അദ്ദേഹം മഹാധനികനായിത്തീർന്നു. അവിടന്ന് അദ്ദേഹത്തിന് ആട്, മാട്, വെള്ളി, സ്വർണം, ദാസീദാസന്മാർ, ഒട്ടകങ്ങൾ, കഴുതകൾ എന്നിവയൊക്കെയും നൽകി.
36 then did Sarah wife of my lord, bear a son to my lord, after she had become old, —so he gave to him all that he had;
എന്റെ യജമാനന്റെ ഭാര്യയായ സാറ വാർധക്യത്തിൽ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന് ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചു; തനിക്കുള്ള സകലസമ്പത്തും അദ്ദേഹം അവനു കൊടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു.
37 And my lord put me on oath saying, —Thou shalt not take a wife for my son, of the daughters of the Canaanites in whose land, I, am dwelling;
ഞാൻ കനാന്യരുടെ ദേശത്തു പാർക്കുന്നു, ‘എന്നാൽ നീ എന്റെ മകനു ഭാര്യയായി കനാന്യപുത്രിമാരിൽനിന്ന് ഒരുവളെ തെരഞ്ഞെടുക്കാതെ,
38 but, unto the house of my father, shalt thou go, and unto my family, —and take a wife for my son.
എന്റെ പിതാവിന്റെ കുടുംബത്തിലേക്കും സ്വന്തവംശത്തിലേക്കും ചെന്ന് എന്റെ മകന് ഒരു ഭാര്യയെ എടുക്കണം’ എന്ന് എന്റെ യജമാനൻ എന്നെക്കൊണ്ടു ശപഥംചെയ്യിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.
39 So I said unto my lord, —Peradventure the woman will not follow me.
“അപ്പോൾ ഞാൻ യജമാനനോട്, ‘സ്ത്രീക്ക് എന്റെകൂടെ വരുന്നതിനു സമ്മതമല്ലെങ്കിലോ?’ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
40 And he said unto me, —Yahweh, before whom I have walked to and fro, will send his messenger with thee, so shall he prosper thy way, and thou shalt take a wife for my son out of my kindred and out of the house of my father.
“അതിന് അദ്ദേഹം മറുപടി പറഞ്ഞത്: ‘ഞാൻ യഹോവയുടെ സന്നിധിയിൽ വിശ്വസ്തതയോടെ ജീവിക്കുന്നു, അവിടന്നു തന്റെ ദൂതനെ നിന്റെകൂടെ അയച്ച് നിന്റെ യാത്ര സഫലമാക്കും; അങ്ങനെ എന്റെ സ്വന്തവംശത്തിൽനിന്നും എന്റെ പിതാവിന്റെ കുടുംബത്തിൽനിന്നും എന്റെ മകനുവേണ്ടി ഒരു ഭാര്യയെ എടുക്കാൻ നിനക്കു സാധിക്കും.
41 Then, shalt thou clear thyself from mine oath, for thou shalt go in unto my kindred, —and, if they will not grant her unto thee, then shalt thou be clear from mine oath.
നീ എന്റെ വംശക്കാരുടെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്നുകഴിയുമ്പോൾ എന്നോടുള്ള ശപഥത്തിൽനിന്ന് ഒഴിവുള്ളവനാകും; അവർ അവളെ നിന്റെ പക്കൽ ഏൽപ്പിക്കാൻ വിസമ്മതിക്കുന്നെങ്കിലും നീ എന്നോടുള്ള പ്രതിജ്ഞയിൽനിന്ന് ഒഴിവുള്ളവനായിരിക്കും.’
42 So I came in to-day, unto the fountain, —and I said O Yahweh God of my lord Abraham! if, I pray thee thou art prospering my way whereon I am going,
“ഇന്നു ഞാൻ നീരുറവയിൽ എത്തിയപ്പോൾ ദൈവത്തോടു പ്രാർഥിച്ചു: ‘എന്റെ യജമാനനായ അബ്രാഹാമിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവേ, തിരുഹിതമെങ്കിൽ എന്റെ ഈ യാത്ര സഫലമാക്കണേ.
43 here, am I stationed by the fountain of water, —so then it shall come to pass that, the maiden that is coming forth to draw, and I shall say unto her Let me drink. I pray thee a little water out of thy pitcher;
ഇതാ, ഞാൻ ഈ നീരുറവയ്ക്കരികെ നിൽക്കുന്നു; ഒരു കന്യക വെള്ളം കോരാൻ വരികയും ഞാൻ അവളോട്, “നിന്റെ കുടത്തിൽനിന്ന് എനിക്കു കുറച്ചുവെള്ളം തരണം” എന്നു പറയുകയും ചെയ്യുമ്പോൾ,
44 and she shall say unto me Both, thou, drink, and for thy camels also, will I draw, the same, shall be the woman whom Yahweh hath appointed for the son of my lord.
അവൾ എന്നോട്, “കുടിച്ചുകൊള്ളൂ, ഞാൻ നിന്റെ ഒട്ടകങ്ങൾക്കുംകൂടി വെള്ളം കോരാം” എന്നു പറയുന്നെങ്കിൽ എന്റെ യജമാനന്റെ മകനുവേണ്ടി യഹോവ തെരഞ്ഞെടുത്തിട്ടുള്ളവൾ അവൾതന്നെ ആയിരിക്കണേ.’
45 Ere yet, I, could make an end of speaking unto mine own heart, lo! then Rebekah, coming forth, with her pitcher on her shoulder, and she went down to the fountain, and drew, —and I said unto her Let me drink I pray thee!
“ഞാൻ എന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തിൽ ഇങ്ങനെ പ്രാർഥിച്ചുതീരുന്നതിനുമുമ്പ് റിബേക്ക തോളിൽ കുടവുമായി വന്നു. അവൾ നീരുറവയിലേക്ക് ഇറങ്ങിച്ചെന്ന് വെള്ളം കോരി; ‘എനിക്കൽപ്പം കുടിക്കാൻ തരൂ’ എന്നു ഞാൻ അവളോടു പറഞ്ഞു.
46 So she hastened and lowered her pitcher from off her, and said. Drink! and to thy camels also, will I give to drink, —So I drank and the camels also, she let drink.
“അവൾ ഉടൻതന്നെ തോളിൽനിന്ന് കുടം താഴ്ത്തി, ‘കുടിച്ചുകൊള്ളുക, ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളുടെ ഒട്ടകങ്ങൾക്കും വെള്ളം തരാം’ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. ഞാൻ കുടിച്ചു, എന്റെ ഒട്ടകങ്ങൾക്കും അവൾ വെള്ളം കൊടുത്തു.
47 Then I asked her, and said, Whose daughter art thou? And she said Daughter of Bethuel son of Nahor, whom, Milcah, bare to him, —Then put I the ring upon her nose, and the bracelets upon her hands;
“‘നീ ആരുടെ മകളാണ്?’ എന്നു ഞാൻ അവളോടു ചോദിച്ചു. “‘ഞാൻ നാഹോരിനു മിൽക്കാ പ്രസവിച്ച മകനായ ബെഥൂവേലിന്റെ മകൾ’ എന്ന് അവൾ പറഞ്ഞു. “അപ്പോൾ ഞാൻ അവളുടെ മൂക്കിൽ മൂക്കുത്തിയും കൈകളിൽ വളയും അണിയിച്ചു.
48 and bowed my head and bent myself down unto Yahweh, —and I blessed Yahweh God of my lord Abraham, who had led me in a way of faithfulness, to take the daughter of the brother of my lord for his son.
പിന്നെ ഞാൻ കുനിഞ്ഞ് യഹോവയെ നമസ്കരിച്ചു; എന്റെ യജമാനന്റെ മകന് യജമാനന്റെ സഹോദരന്റെ പുത്രിയെ ഭാര്യയായി ലഭിക്കാൻ തക്കവണ്ണം എന്നെ നേർവഴിക്കു നടത്തിയ എന്റെ യജമാനനായ അബ്രാഹാമിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയെ ഞാൻ സ്തുതിച്ചു.
49 Now, therefore, if ye are dealing in lovingkindness and faithfulness with my lord, tell me, —and, if not, tell me, that I may turn unto the right hand or unto the left.
നിങ്ങൾ, ഇനി, എന്റെ യജമാനനോടു കരുണയും വിശ്വസ്തതയും കാണിക്കുമോ എന്ന് എന്നോടു ദയവായി പറയണം; അല്ലാത്തപക്ഷം അതും പറയണം, ഏതു വഴിക്കു തിരിയണമെന്ന് എനിക്ക് മനസ്സിലാക്കാമല്ലോ!”
50 Then answered Laban and Bethuel and said, from Yahweh, hath come forth the word, —we cannot speak unto thee ill or well.
അതിനു ലാബാനും ബെഥൂവേലും, “ഇത് യഹോവയിൽനിന്നുള്ളത്; ഇതിനെക്കുറിച്ച് ഗുണമോ ദോഷമോ ഞങ്ങൾക്കു പറയാൻ ഇല്ല.
51 Lo! Rebekah, is before thee, Take her and go thy way, —And let her become wife unto the son of thy lord, as Yahweh hath spoken.
റിബേക്ക ഇതാ, നിന്റെ മുമ്പിൽ; അവളെ കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു പൊയ്ക്കൊള്ളൂ; യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതുപോലെ അവൾ നിന്റെ യജമാനന്റെ മകനു ഭാര്യയായിത്തീരട്ടെ” എന്ന് ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
52 And it came to pass when Abraham’s servant heard their words, that he bowed himself down towards the earth unto Yahweh.
അബ്രാഹാമിന്റെ ദാസൻ അവരുടെ വാക്കുകേട്ട്, സാഷ്ടാംഗം വീണു യഹോവയെ നമസ്കരിച്ചു.
53 Then the servant brought forth jewels of silver and jewels of gold and raiment, and gave unto Rebekah, —and precious things, gave he to her brother and to her mother.
പിന്നെ അദ്ദേഹം സ്വർണാഭരണങ്ങളും വെള്ളിയാഭരണങ്ങളും വസ്ത്രങ്ങളും എടുത്തു റിബേക്കയ്ക്കു കൊടുത്തു; അവളുടെ സഹോദരനും അമ്മയ്ക്കും അയാൾ വിലയേറിയ സമ്മാനങ്ങൾ നൽകി.
54 And they did eat and drink he, and the men who were with him, and they tarried the night, —and when they arose in the morning, he said Let me go unto my lord!
അതിനുശേഷം അദ്ദേഹവും കൂടെയുള്ളവരും ഭക്ഷിക്കുകയും പാനംചെയ്യുകയും ആ രാത്രി അവിടെ ചെലവഴിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു. അവർ രാവിലെ എഴുന്നേറ്റു. “എന്നെ എന്റെ യജമാനന്റെ അടുത്തേക്കു യാത്രയയച്ചാലും” എന്ന് അദ്ദേഹം പറഞ്ഞു.
55 Then said her brother and her mother, Let the young woman remain with us some days or rather ten, —After that, she shall go.
എന്നാൽ പെൺകുട്ടിയുടെ സഹോദരനും അമ്മയും, “അവൾ പത്തുദിവസം ഞങ്ങളുടെകൂടെ നിൽക്കട്ടെ, അതു കഴിഞ്ഞ് നിങ്ങൾക്കു പോകാം” എന്ന് ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
56 And he said unto them, Do not hinder me, when, Yahweh, hath prospered my journey, —Let me go, that I may take my journey unto my lord!
അപ്പോൾ അദ്ദേഹം അവരോട്: “എന്നെ താമസിപ്പിക്കരുത്, യഹോവ എന്റെ യാത്ര സഫലമാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു! എന്റെ യജമാനന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ചെല്ലേണ്ടതിന് എന്നെ യാത്രയാക്കിയാലും” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
57 Then said they, We must call the young woman and ask at her mouth.
“നമുക്കു പെൺകുട്ടിയെ വിളിച്ച് അവളോടു ചോദിക്കാം” അവർ പറഞ്ഞു.
58 So they called Rebekah and said unto her, Wilt thou go with this man? And she said, I will go.
അവർ റിബേക്കയെ വിളിച്ച് “നീ ഇദ്ദേഹത്തോടുകൂടെ പോകുന്നോ?” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. “ഞാൻ പോകുന്നു” അവൾ പറഞ്ഞു.
59 So they let go Rebekah their sister, and her nurse, and Abraham’s servant and his men.
അവർ തങ്ങളുടെ സഹോദരിയായ റിബേക്കയെ അവളുടെ ശുശ്രൂഷക്കാരിയോടും അബ്രാഹാമിന്റെ ദാസനോടും അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ ആളുകളോടുംകൂടെ യാത്രയാക്കി.
60 And they blessed Rebekah and said to her, Our sister! become thou, thousands of ten thousands, —And let thy seed take possession of the gate of them that hate them!
അവർ റിബേക്കയെ അനുഗ്രഹിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞു: “നമ്മുടെ സഹോദരീ, നീ വർധിക്കട്ടെ, ആയിരമായിരമായിത്തന്നെ; നിന്റെ സന്താനങ്ങൾ അവരുടെ വൈരികളുടെ പട്ടണങ്ങൾ കൈവശമാക്കട്ടെ.”
61 Then mounted Rebekah and her young woman and they rode upon the camels, and followed the man, —so the servant took Rebekah. and went his way.
ഇതിനുശേഷം റിബേക്കയും അവളുടെ ദാസിമാരും ഒരുങ്ങി തങ്ങളുടെ ഒട്ടകങ്ങളിന്മേൽ കയറി ആ പുരുഷനോടൊപ്പം യാത്രയായി. അങ്ങനെ ആ ദാസൻ റിബേക്കയെയുംകൂട്ടി യാത്രപുറപ്പെട്ടു.
62 Now, Isaac, had come in at the entrance, of Beer-lahai-roi, —for, he, was dwelling in the land of the South:
ഇതിനിടയിൽ യിസ്ഹാക്ക് ബേർ-ലഹയീ-രോയീയിൽനിന്ന് വന്നു; അദ്ദേഹം തെക്കേദേശത്താണു താമസിച്ചിരുന്നത്.
63 and Isaac came forth to meditate in the field at the approach of evening, —so he lifted up his eyes and looked, and lo! camels, coming in.
ഒരു ദിവസം സന്ധ്യക്ക് യിസ്ഹാക്ക് ധ്യാനിക്കുന്നതിനു വയലിലേക്കുപോയി; തലയുയർത്തിനോക്കിയപ്പോൾ ഒട്ടകങ്ങൾ അടുത്തു വരുന്നതായി കണ്ടു.
64 And Rebekah lifted up her eyes, and saw Isaac, —so she alighted with haste from off the camel;
റിബേക്കയും തല ഉയർത്തിനോക്കി, യിസ്ഹാക്കിനെ കണ്ടു. അവൾ ഒട്ടകപ്പുറത്തുനിന്നു താഴെയിറങ്ങി.
65 and said unto the servant, Who is this man that is walking in the field to meet us? And the servant said, That, is my lord. So she took the veil and covered herself.
ദാസനോട്, “നമ്മെ വരവേൽക്കാൻ വരുന്ന ആ മനുഷ്യൻ ആരാണ്?” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. “അദ്ദേഹമാണ് എന്റെ യജമാനൻ” ദാസൻ ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു. അവൾ മൂടുപടം എടുത്ത് തന്നെത്തന്നെ മറച്ചു.
66 And the servant recounted to Isaac, —all the things which he had done.
ദാസൻ താൻ ചെയ്ത എല്ലാക്കാര്യങ്ങളും യിസ്ഹാക്കിനെ അറിയിച്ചു.
67 And Isaac brought her into the tent of Sarah his mother; thus he took Rebekah and she became his wife and he loved her, —and Isaac consoled himself, for the loss of his mother.
യിസ്ഹാക്ക് അവളെ തന്റെ അമ്മയായ സാറയുടെ കൂടാരത്തിൽ കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടുപോയി; അവൻ റിബേക്കയെ വിവാഹംചെയ്തു. റിബേക്ക യിസ്ഹാക്കിന്റെ ഭാര്യയായിത്തീർന്നു; അയാൾ അവളെ സ്നേഹിച്ചു; അങ്ങനെ അമ്മയുടെ മരണശേഷം യിസ്ഹാക്കിനു സാന്ത്വനം ലഭിച്ചു.
