Genesis 20
1 And Abraham brake up from thence, towards the land of the South, and fixed his dwelling between Kadesh and Shur, so he sojourned in Gerar.
De ali partiu Abraão à terra do Sul, e assentou entre Cades e Sur, e habitou como peregrino em Gerar.
2 And Abraham said of Sarah his wife: My, sister, is she, —So Abimelech king of Gerar sent, and took Sarah.
E disse Abraão de Sara sua mulher: É minha irmã. E Abimeleque, rei de Gerar, enviou e tomou a Sara.
3 Then God went in unto Abimelech, in a dream of the night, —and said to him, Behold thee dead! because of the woman whom thou hast taken, seeing that, she, is a married woman.
Porém Deus veio a Abimeleque em sonhos de noite, e lhe disse: Eis que morto és por causa da mulher que tomaste, a qual é casada com marido.
4 Now, Abimelech, had not come near unto her, —so he said, O My Lord! a nation even a righteous one, wilt thou slay?
Mas Abimeleque não havia chegado a ela, e disse: Senhor, matarás também a gente justa?
5 Had not, he himself, said to me, My sister, is she? and even she herself, said, My brother, is he? In the integrity of my heart and in the pureness of my hand, have I done this!
Não me disse ele: É minha irmã; e ela também disse: É meu irmão? Com sinceridade de meu coração, e com limpeza de minhas mãos fiz isto.
6 And God said unto him in a dream, I, also, knew, that in the integrity of thy heart, thou didst this, so then, even I myself, withheld thee from sinning against me, for this reason, have I not suffered thee to touch her.
E disse-lhe Deus em sonhos: Eu também sei que com integridade de teu coração fizeste isto; e eu também te detive de pecar contra mim, e assim não te permiti que a tocasses.
7 Now, therefore restore the man’s wife, for a prophet, is he, that he may pray for thee and live thou, —But if thou art not going to restore her, know, that thou shalt die, thou—and all that are thine.
Agora, pois, devolve a mulher a seu marido; porque é profeta, e orará por ti, e viverás. E se tu não a devolveres, sabe que certamente morrerás, com tudo o que for teu.
8 So Abimelech rose early in the morning, and called all his servants, and spake all these words in their ears, and the men feared greatly.
Então Abimeleque se levantou de manhã, e chamou a todos os seus servos, e disse todas estas palavras aos ouvidos deles; e temeram os homens em grande maneira.
9 Then Abimelech called Abraham, and said to him, What hast thou done to us? and wherein had I sinned against thee, that thou shouldst have brought in over me and over my kingdom, a sin so great? Deeds, which should not be done, hast thou done with me.
Depois chamou Abimeleque a Abraão e lhe disse: Que nos fizeste? e em que pequei eu contra ti, que atraíste sobre mim e sobre meu reino tão grande pecado? o que não devias fazer fizeste comigo.
10 And Abimelech said unto Abraham, —What hadst thou seen, that thou shouldst have done this thing?
E disse mais Abimeleque a Abraão: Que viste para que fizesses isto?
11 And Abraham said, Because I thought, Surely there is no fear of God, in this place, —therefore will they slay me for the sake of my wife.
E Abraão respondeu: Porque disse para mim: Certamente não há temor de Deus neste lugar, e me matarão por causa de minha mulher.
12 Moreover also, in truth, my sister daughter of my father, she is, only not daughter of my mother, —so she became my wife.
E na verdade também é minha irmã, filha de meu pai, mas não filha de minha mãe, e tomei-a por mulher.
13 And so it came to pass when the Gods caused me to wander from my father’s house, that I said to her, This, is thy lovingkindness, wherewith thou shalt deal with me, —Into whatsoever place we enter, say of me My brother, is he.
E foi que, quando Deus me fez sair sem rumo da casa de meu pai, eu lhe disse: Esta é a lealdade que tu me farás, que em todos os lugares onde chegarmos, digas de mim: É meu irmão.
14 Then took Abimelech sheep and oxen and men—servants and maid-servants, and gave to Abraham, —and restored to him Sarah his wife.
Então Abimeleque tomou ovelhas e vacas, e servos e servas, e deu-o a Abraão, e devolveu-lhe a Sara sua mulher.
15 And Abimelech, said, Lo! my land is before thee, —wherever it may seem good in thine eyes, dwell.
E disse Abimeleque: Eis que minha terra está diante de ti, habita onde bem te parecer.
16 And to Sarah, he said, Lo! I have given a thousand of silver unto thy brother: Lo! that is for thee as a covering of eyes, to all who are with thee, —And so in every way, hath right been done.
E a Sara disse: Eis que dei mil moedas de prata a teu irmão; olha que ele te é por véu de olhos para todos os que estão contigo, e para com todos: assim foi repreendida.
17 And Abraham prayed unto God, —and God healed Abimelech, and his wife, and his maid-servants, so that they bare children,
Então Abraão orou a Deus; e Deus sanou a Abimeleque e a sua mulher, e a suas servas, e voltaram a ter filhos.
18 For Yahweh, had restrained from bearing, every female of the house of Abimelech, —because of Sarah, wife of Abraham.
Porque havia por completo fechado o SENHOR toda madre da casa de Abimeleque, por causa de Sara, mulher de Abraão.
