Genesis 20
1 And Abraham brake up from thence, towards the land of the South, and fixed his dwelling between Kadesh and Shur, so he sojourned in Gerar.
১আর অব্রাহাম সেখান থেকে দক্ষিণ দেশে যাত্রা করে কাদেশ ও শূরের মাঝখানে থাকলেন ও গবারে বাস করলেন।
2 And Abraham said of Sarah his wife: My, sister, is she, —So Abimelech king of Gerar sent, and took Sarah.
২আর অব্রাহাম নিজের স্ত্রী সারার বিষয়ে বললেন, “এ আমার বোন” তাতে গবারের রাজা অবীমেলক লোক পাঠিয়ে সারাকে গ্রহণ করলেন।
3 Then God went in unto Abimelech, in a dream of the night, —and said to him, Behold thee dead! because of the woman whom thou hast taken, seeing that, she, is a married woman.
৩কিন্তু রাতে ঈশ্বর স্বপ্নে অবীমেলকের কাছে এসে বললেন, “দেখ, ঐ যে নারীকে গ্রহণ করেছ, তার জন্য তোমার মৃত্যু হবে, কারণ সে একজন লোকের স্ত্রী।”
4 Now, Abimelech, had not come near unto her, —so he said, O My Lord! a nation even a righteous one, wilt thou slay?
৪তখন অবীমেলক তাঁর কাছে যাননি; তাই তিনি বললেন, “প্রভু, যে জাতি নির্দোষ, তাকেও কি আপনি হত্যা করবেন?”
5 Had not, he himself, said to me, My sister, is she? and even she herself, said, My brother, is he? In the integrity of my heart and in the pureness of my hand, have I done this!
৫সেই ব্যক্তি কি আমাকে বলেনি, এ আমার বোন? এবং সেই স্ত্রীও কি বলেনি, এ আমার ভাই? আমি যা করেছি, তা হৃদয়ের সরলতায় ও হাতের নির্দোষতায় করেছি।
6 And God said unto him in a dream, I, also, knew, that in the integrity of thy heart, thou didst this, so then, even I myself, withheld thee from sinning against me, for this reason, have I not suffered thee to touch her.
৬তখন ঈশ্বর স্বপ্নে তাঁকে বললেন, “তুমি হৃদয়ের সরলতায় এ কাজ করেছ, তা আমিও জানি এবং আমার বিরুদ্ধে পাপ করতে আমি তোমাকে বারণ করলাম; এই জন্য তাকে স্পর্শ করতে দিলাম না।
7 Now, therefore restore the man’s wife, for a prophet, is he, that he may pray for thee and live thou, —But if thou art not going to restore her, know, that thou shalt die, thou—and all that are thine.
৭অতএব, সেই ব্যক্তির স্ত্রীকে ফিরিয়ে দাও, কারণ সে ভাববাদী; আর সে তোমার জন্য প্রার্থনা করবে, তাতে তুমি বাঁচবে; কিন্তু যদি তাকে ফিরিয়ে না দাও, তবে এটা জেনে রাখ, তুমি ও তোমরা সকলেই নিশ্চয় মরবে।”
8 So Abimelech rose early in the morning, and called all his servants, and spake all these words in their ears, and the men feared greatly.
৮অবীমেলক খুব সকালে উঠে নিজের সব দাসকে ডেকে ঐ সমস্ত বিবরণ তাদেরকে বললেন; তাতে তারা খুব ভয় পেল।
9 Then Abimelech called Abraham, and said to him, What hast thou done to us? and wherein had I sinned against thee, that thou shouldst have brought in over me and over my kingdom, a sin so great? Deeds, which should not be done, hast thou done with me.
৯পরে অবীমেলক অব্রাহামকে ডেকে বললেন, “আপনি আমাদের সঙ্গে এ কি ব্যবহার করলেন? আমি আপনার কাছে কি দোষ করেছি যে আপনি আমাকে ও আমার রাজ্যকে এমন মহাপাপগ্রস্ত করলেন? আপনি আমার প্রতি অনুচিত কাজ করলেন।”
10 And Abimelech said unto Abraham, —What hadst thou seen, that thou shouldst have done this thing?
১০অবীমেলক অব্রাহামকে বললেন, “আপনি কি দেখেছিলেন যে, এমন কাজ করলেন?”
11 And Abraham said, Because I thought, Surely there is no fear of God, in this place, —therefore will they slay me for the sake of my wife.
১১তখন অব্রাহাম বললেন, “আমি ভেবেছিলাম, এই জায়গায় নিশ্চয় ঈশ্বর ভয় নেই, তাই এরা হয়তো আমার স্ত্রীর লোভে আমাকে হত্যা করবে।
12 Moreover also, in truth, my sister daughter of my father, she is, only not daughter of my mother, —so she became my wife.
১২আর সে অবশ্যই আমার বোন, সে আমার বাবার মেয়ে কিন্তু মায়ের নয়, পরে আমার স্ত্রী হল।
13 And so it came to pass when the Gods caused me to wander from my father’s house, that I said to her, This, is thy lovingkindness, wherewith thou shalt deal with me, —Into whatsoever place we enter, say of me My brother, is he.
১৩যখন ঈশ্বর আমাকে বাবার বাড়ি ছেড়ে যেতে বলেছিলেন তখন আমি তাকে বলেছিলাম, তুমি আমার প্রতি তোমার এই দয়া করতে হবে, আমরা যে সমস্ত জায়গায় যাব আমার সম্মন্ধে বলবে, এ আমার ভাই।”
14 Then took Abimelech sheep and oxen and men—servants and maid-servants, and gave to Abraham, —and restored to him Sarah his wife.
১৪তখন অবীমেলক ভেড়া, গরু ও দাস দাসী এনে অব্রাহামকে দান করলেন এবং তাঁর স্ত্রী সারাকেও ফিরিয়ে দিলেন;
15 And Abimelech, said, Lo! my land is before thee, —wherever it may seem good in thine eyes, dwell.
১৫অবীমেলক বললেন, “দেখুন, আমার দেশ আপনার সামনে আছে আপনার যেখানে ইচ্ছা সেখানে বাস করুন।”
16 And to Sarah, he said, Lo! I have given a thousand of silver unto thy brother: Lo! that is for thee as a covering of eyes, to all who are with thee, —And so in every way, hath right been done.
১৬আর তিনি সারাকে বললেন, “দেখুন, আমি আপনার ভাইকে হাজার টুকরো রূপা দিলাম; দেখুন, আপনার সঙ্গী সকলের কাছে তা আপনার চোখের আবরণ স্বরূপ; সব বিষয়ে আপনার বিচার নিষ্পত্তি হল।”
17 And Abraham prayed unto God, —and God healed Abimelech, and his wife, and his maid-servants, so that they bare children,
১৭পরে অব্রাহাম ঈশ্বরের কাছে প্রার্থনা করলেন, আর ঈশ্বর অবীমেলককে ও তাঁর স্ত্রীকে ও তাঁর দাসীদেরকে সুস্থ করলেন; তাতে তারা প্রসব করল।
18 For Yahweh, had restrained from bearing, every female of the house of Abimelech, —because of Sarah, wife of Abraham.
১৮কারণ অব্রাহামের স্ত্রী সারার জন্য সদাপ্রভু অবীমেলকের পরিবারে সমস্ত গর্ভ রোধ করেছিলেন।
