Genesis 15
1 After these things, came the word of Yahweh unto Abram, in a vision saying, —Do not fear Abram, I am a shield to thee, thine exceeding great reward.
௧இந்தக் காரியங்கள் நடந்தபின்பு, யெகோவாவுடைய வார்த்தை ஆபிராமுக்குத் தரிசனத்திலே உண்டாகி, அவர்: “ஆபிராமே, நீ பயப்படாதே; நான் உனக்குக் கேடகமும், உனக்கு மகா பெரிய பலனுமாக இருக்கிறேன்” என்றார்.
2 And Abram said My Lord Yahweh, what canst thou give me, when, I, am going on childless, —and the heir of my house, is Eliezer, of Damascus,
௨அதற்கு ஆபிராம்: “யெகோவா ஆண்டவரே, அடியேனுக்கு என்ன தருவீர்? நான் குழந்தையில்லாமல் இருக்கிறேனே; தமஸ்கு ஊரைச் சேர்ந்த இந்த எலியேசர் என் வீட்டைப் பராமரிக்கிறவனாக இருக்கிறானே” என்றான்.
3 And Abram said—Lo, to me, hast thou not given seed, —And lo! a son of my household, is mine heir!
௩பின்னும் ஆபிராம்: “தேவரீர் எனக்கு வாரிசு அருளவில்லை; இதோ என் வீட்டிலே பிறந்த பிள்ளை எனக்கு வாரிசாக இருக்கிறான்” என்றான்.
4 And lo! the word of Yahweh [came] unto him, saying, This one, shall not be thine heir: But one who cometh forth of thy body—he shall be thine heir.
௪அப்பொழுது யெகோவாவுடைய வார்த்தை அவனுக்கு உண்டாகி: “இவன் உனக்கு வாரிசு அல்ல, உனக்குப் பிறப்பவனே உனக்கு வாரிசு ஆவான்” என்று சொல்லி,
5 And he brought him forth abroad and said—Look steadfastly. I pray thee towards the heavens, and number the stars, if thou be able to number, them, And he said to him, Thus, shall be thy seed.
௫அவர் அவனை வெளியே அழைத்து: “நீ வானத்தை அண்ணாந்துபார், நட்சத்திரங்களை உன்னாலே எண்ணமுடியுமானால், அவைகளை எண்ணு என்று சொல்லி; பின்பு அவனை நோக்கி: “உன் சந்ததி இந்தவிதமாக இருக்கும்” என்றார்.
6 And he had faith in Yahweh, —so he reckoned it to him as righteousness.
௬அவன் யெகோவாவை விசுவாசித்தான், அதை அவர் அவனுக்கு நீதியாகக் கருதினார்.
7 And he said unto him, —I, am Yahweh, who brought thee forth out of Ur of the Chaldees, to give thee this land to inherit it.
௭பின்னும் அவர் அவனை நோக்கி: “இந்த தேசத்தை உனக்குச் சொந்தமாகக் கொடுப்பதற்காக, உன்னை ஊர் என்கிற கல்தேயர்களுடைய பட்டணத்திலிருந்து அழைத்துவந்த யெகோவா நானே” என்றார்.
8 And he said, My Lord Yahweh, whereby, can I know that I shall inherit it?
௮அதற்கு அவன்: “யெகோவா ஆண்டவரே, நான் அதைச் சொந்தமாக்கிக்கொள்வேன் என்று எதினால் அறிவேன் என்றான்.
9 And he said unto him, Take for me a heifer three years old, and a she-goat three years old, and a ram three years old, and a turtle-dove and a young pigeon.
௯அதற்கு அவர்: “மூன்றுவயது இளங்கன்றையும், மூன்றுவயது வெள்ளாட்டையும், மூன்றுவயது ஆட்டுக்கடாவையும், ஒரு காட்டுப்புறாவையும், ஒரு புறாக்குஞ்சையும், என்னிடத்தில் கொண்டுவா” என்றார்.
10 So he took for him all these, and divided them, in the midst, and placed each piece over against its fellow, but the birds, divided he not.
௧0அவன் அவைகள் எல்லாவற்றையும் அவரிடத்தில் கொண்டுவந்து, அவைகளை நடுவாகத் துண்டித்து, இருபகுதிகளையும் ஒன்றுக்கொன்று எதிராக வைத்தான்; பறவைகளை அவன் துண்டிக்கவில்லை.
11 Then came down the birds of prey upon the carcass, and Abram drove them away.
௧௧பறவைகள் அந்த உடல்களின்மேல் இறங்கின; அவைகளை ஆபிராம் துரத்தினான்.
12 And it came to pass when, the sun, was about to go in, and, a deep sleep, had fallen upon Abram, lo! a terror a great darkness, was falling upon him.
௧௨சூரியன் மறையும்போது, ஆபிராமுக்கு ஆழ்ந்த தூக்கம் வந்தது; பயமுண்டாக்கும் காரிருள் அவனை மூடிக்கொண்டது.
13 And he said to Abram—Thou must surely know, that, sojourners, will thy seed become in a land not theirs, and shall serve them and they will humble them, four hundred years;
௧௩அப்பொழுது அவர் ஆபிராமை நோக்கி: உன் சந்ததியினர் தங்களுடையதல்லாத அந்நிய தேசத்திலே பரதேசிகளாக இருந்து, அந்த தேசத்தார்களுக்கு அடிமைகளாக இருப்பார்கள் என்றும், அவர்களால் 400 வருடங்கள் உபத்திரவப்படுவார்கள் என்றும், நீ நிச்சயமாக அறியவேண்டும்.
14 moreover also, the nation whom they will serve, I, am going to judge, and after that, shall they come forth with great substance.
௧௪இவர்கள் அடிமையாக இருக்கும் தேசத்தை நான் நியாயந்தீர்ப்பேன்; பின்பு மிகுந்த பொருட்களுடனே புறப்பட்டு வருவார்கள்.
15 But, thou, shalt go in unto thy fathers in peace, thou shalt be buried in a good old age.
௧௫நீ சமாதானத்தோடு உன் முன்னோர்களிடத்தில் சேருவாய்; நல்ல முதிர்வயதிலே அடக்கம்செய்யப்படுவாய்.
16 And, in the fourth generation, shall they return hither, —for not complete, is the iniquity of the Amorites, as yet,
௧௬நான்காம் தலை முறையிலே அவர்கள் இந்த இடத்திற்குத் திரும்ப வருவார்கள்; ஏனென்றால் எமோரியர்களுடைய அக்கிரமம் இன்னும் நிறைவாகவில்லை” என்றார்.
17 So it came to pass when, the sun, had gone in, and, a thick darkness, had come on, that lo there was a smoking hearth and torch of fire, which passed through between these pieces.
௧௭சூரியன் மறைந்து காரிருள் உண்டானபின்பு, இதோ, புகைகிற சூளையும், அந்தத் துண்டுகளின் நடுவே கடந்துபோகிற அக்கினிஜூவாலையும் தோன்றின.
18 In that day, did Yahweh solemnise with Abram a covenant, saying, —To thy seed, have I given this land, from the river of Egypt as far as the great river—the river Euphrates:
௧௮அந்த நாளிலே யெகோவா ஆபிராமோடு உடன்படிக்கைசெய்து, “எகிப்தின் நதிதுவங்கி ஐப்பிராத்து நதி என்னும் பெரிய நதிவரை உள்ளதும்,
19 the Kenite, and the Kenizzite, and the Kadmonite;
௧௯கேனியரும், கெனிசியரும், கத்மோனியரும்,
20 and the Hittite and the Perizzite, and the Rephaim;
௨0ஏத்தியரும், பெரிசியரும், ரெப்பாயீமியரும்,
21 and the Amorite, and the Canaanite, and the Girgashite, and the Jebusite.
௨௧எமோரியரும், கானானியரும், கிர்காசியரும், எபூசியரும் என்பவர்கள் இருக்கிறதுமான இந்த தேசத்தை உன்னுடைய சந்ததிக்குக் கொடுத்தேன்” என்றார்.
