Genesis 13
1 So Abram came up out of Egypt he and his wife and all that he had and Lot with him, towards the South.
Maka pergilah Abram dari Mesir ke Tanah Negeb dengan isterinya dan segala kepunyaannya, dan Lotpun bersama-sama dengan dia.
2 Now, Abram, was very rich, —in cattle, in silver and in gold.
Adapun Abram sangat kaya, banyak ternak, perak dan emasnya.
3 And he went his way, by his removals, from the South even as far as to Bethel, —as far as the place where his tent was at the beginning, between Bethel and Ai:
Ia berjalan dari tempat persinggahan ke tempat persinggahan, dari Tanah Negeb sampai dekat Betel, di mana kemahnya mula-mula berdiri, antara Betel dan Ai,
4 unto the place of the altar, which he made there at first, —and Abram called there, on the name of Yahweh.
ke tempat mezbah yang dibuatnya dahulu di sana; di situlah Abram memanggil nama TUHAN.
5 Now, Lot also, who was going with Abram, had flocks and herds and tents.
Juga Lot, yang ikut bersama-sama dengan Abram, mempunyai domba dan lembu dan kemah.
6 And the land suffered them not to dwell together, —because their substance had become, great, so that they could not dwell together.
Tetapi negeri itu tidak cukup luas bagi mereka untuk diam bersama-sama, sebab harta milik mereka amat banyak, sehingga mereka tidak dapat diam bersama-sama.
7 And there arose a strife betwixt the herdmen of Abram, and the herdmen of Lot. Now the Canaanite and the Perizzite, were then dwelling in the land.
Karena itu terjadilah perkelahian antara para gembala Abram dan para gembala Lot. Waktu itu orang Kanaan dan orang Feris diam di negeri itu.
8 So then Abram said unto Lot Pray let not cause of strife arise betwixt me and thee, or betwixt my herdmen and thy herdmen; for brethren, are we.
Maka berkatalah Abram kepada Lot: "Janganlah kiranya ada perkelahian antara aku dan engkau, dan antara para gembalaku dan para gembalamu, sebab kita ini kerabat.
9 Is not, all the land, before thee? I pray thee, separate thyself from me, —if to the left hand, then I will go to the right, if to the right hand, then I will go to the left.
Bukankah seluruh negeri ini terbuka untuk engkau? Baiklah pisahkan dirimu dari padaku; jika engkau ke kiri, maka aku ke kanan, jika engkau ke kanan, maka aku ke kiri."
10 So Lot lifted up his eyes and beheld all the circuit of the Jordan, that the whole of it, was well-watered, —before Yahweh destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, like the Garden of Yahweh, like the land of Egypt, as thou enterest into Zoar.
Lalu Lot melayangkan pandangnya dan dilihatnyalah, bahwa seluruh Lembah Yordan banyak airnya, seperti taman TUHAN, seperti tanah Mesir, sampai ke Zoar. --Hal itu terjadi sebelum TUHAN memusnahkan Sodom dan Gomora. --
11 And Lot chose for himself all the circuit of the Jordan, so Lot brake up eastwards, —and they separated themselves, each man from his brother:
Sebab itu Lot memilih baginya seluruh Lembah Yordan itu, lalu ia berangkat ke sebelah timur dan mereka berpisah.
12 Abram, fixed his dwelling in the land of Canaan, —but, Lot, fixed his dwelling among the cities, of the circuit, and moved his tent as far as Sodom.
Abram menetap di tanah Kanaan, tetapi Lot menetap di kota-kota Lembah Yordan dan berkemah di dekat Sodom.
13 Now, the men of Sodom were base and sinful, —against Yahweh, exceedingly.
Adapun orang Sodom sangat jahat dan berdosa terhadap TUHAN.
14 And, Yahweh, said unto Abram after that Lot had separated himself from him, Lift up, I pray thee thine eyes and look, from the place where thou art, —northward and southward and eastward and westward;
Setelah Lot berpisah dari pada Abram, berfirmanlah TUHAN kepada Abram: "Pandanglah sekelilingmu dan lihatlah dari tempat engkau berdiri itu ke timur dan barat, utara dan selatan,
15 for all the land which thou art beholding—to thee, will I give it, and to thy seed unto times age-abiding;
sebab seluruh negeri yang kaulihat itu akan Kuberikan kepadamu dan kepada keturunanmu untuk selama-lamanya.
16 and I will make thy seed as the dust of the earth, —so that if a man can number the dust of the earth, thy seed also, may be numbered.
Dan Aku akan menjadikan keturunanmu seperti debu tanah banyaknya, sehingga, jika seandainya ada yang dapat menghitung debu tanah, keturunanmupun akan dapat dihitung juga.
17 Rise! go up and down in the land, to the length thereof and to the breadth thereof, for to thee, will I give it.
Bersiaplah, jalanilah negeri itu menurut panjang dan lebarnya, sebab kepadamulah akan Kuberikan negeri itu."
18 So Abram moved his tent and came in and dwelt among the oaks of Mamre, which were in Hebron, —and built there an altar to Yahweh.
Sesudah itu Abram memindahkan kemahnya dan menetap di dekat pohon-pohon tarbantin di Mamre, dekat Hebron, lalu didirikannyalah mezbah di situ bagi TUHAN.
