Genesis 11
1 So it came to pass that, all the earth, was of one manner of speech, —and of one stock of words.
௧பூமியெங்கும் ஒரே மொழியும், ஒரே விதமான பேச்சும் இருந்தது.
2 And it came to pass as they brake away onwards, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar, and dwelt there.
௨மக்கள் கிழக்கேயிருந்து பயணம்செய்யும்போது, சிநெயார் தேசத்தில் சமபூமியைக்கண்டு, அங்கே குடியிருந்தார்கள்.
3 Then said they, each man to his friend, Come on! let us make bricks, and burn them thoroughly, —So the bricks, served them for stone, and bitumen, served them for mortar,
௩அப்பொழுது அவர்கள்: “நாம் செங்கல் அறுத்து, அதை நன்றாகச் சுடுவோம் வாருங்கள்” என்று ஒருவரோடு ஒருவர் பேசிக்கொண்டார்கள்; கல்லுக்குப் பதிலாக செங்கலும், சாந்துக்குப் பதிலாக நிலக்கீலும் அவர்களுக்கு இருந்தது.
4 And they said Come on! let us build for ourselves a city, and a tower with its head in the heavens, so let us make for ourselves a name, —lest we be scattered abroad over the face of all the earth.
௪பின்னும் அவர்கள்: “நாம் பூமியெங்கும் சிதறிப்போகாதபடி, நமக்கு ஒரு நகரத்தையும், வானத்தைத் தொடுமளவு ஒரு கோபுரத்தையும் கட்டி, நமக்குப் பெயர் உண்டாகச் செய்வோம் வாருங்கள்” என்று சொல்லிக்கொண்டார்கள்.
5 And Yahweh came down, to behold the city, and the tower, —which the sons of men had built.
௫மனிதர்கள் கட்டுகிற நகரத்தையும் கோபுரத்தையும் பார்க்கிறதற்குக் யெகோவா இறங்கினார்.
6 Then said Yahweh: Lo! one people and one manner of speech, have they all, this, then is what they have begun to do, —now, therefore, nothing will be withholden from them which they may plan to do.
௬அப்பொழுது யெகோவா: “இதோ, மக்கள் ஒரே கூட்டமாக இருக்கிறார்கள்; அவர்கள் அனைவருக்கும் ஒரே மொழியும் இருக்கிறது; அவர்கள் இதைச் செய்யத்தொடங்கினார்கள்; இப்பொழுதும் தாங்கள் செய்ய நினைத்தது ஒன்றும் தடைபடாது என்று இருக்கிறார்கள்.
7 Come on! let us go down, and there confuse their speech, —that they may not understand, each man the speech of his friend.
௭நாம் இறங்கிப்போய், ஒருவர் பேசுவதை மற்றொருவர் புரிந்துகொள்ளாதபடி, அங்கே அவர்கள் மொழியைத் தாறுமாறாக்குவோம்” என்றார்.
8 So Yahweh scattered them from thence over the face of all the earth, —and so they left off building the city.
௮அப்படியே யெகோவா அவர்களை அந்த இடத்திலிருந்து பூமியெங்கும் சிதறிப்போகச் செய்தார்; அப்பொழுது நகரம் கட்டுவதை விட்டுவிட்டார்கள்.
9 For this cause, was the name thereof called Babel ["Confusion"]; because there, did Yahweh confuse the speech of all the earth, —and, from thence, did Yahweh scatter them abroad, over the face of all the earth.
௯பூமியெங்கும் பேசப்பட்ட மொழியைக் யெகோவா அந்த இடத்தில் தாறுமாறாக்கியதால், அதின் பெயர் பாபேல் எனப்பட்டது; யெகோவா அவர்களை அந்த இடத்திலிருந்து பூமியெங்கும் சிதறிப்போகச் செய்தார்.
10 These, are the genealogies of Shem, Shem was a hundred years old when he begat Arpachshad, two years after the flood
௧0சேமுடைய வம்சவரலாறு: வெள்ளப்பெருக்கு ஏற்பட்டு 2 வருடங்களுக்குப் பிறகு, சேம் 100 வயதானபோது, அர்பக்சாத்தைப் பெற்றெடுத்தான்.
11 and Shem lived after he begat Arpachshad, five hundred years, —and begat sons and daughters.
௧௧சேம் அர்பக்சாத்தைப் பெற்றபின் 500 வருடங்கள் உயிரோடிருந்து மகன்களையும் மகள்களையும் பெற்றெடுத்தான்.
12 And, Arpachshad, lived thirty-five years, —and begat Shelah;
௧௨அர்பக்சாத் 35 வயதானபோது சாலாவைப் பெற்றெடுத்தான்.
13 and Arpachshad lived after he begat Shelah, four hundred and three years, —and begat sons and daughters.
௧௩சாலாவைப் பெற்றபின் அர்பக்சாத் 403 வருடங்கள் உயிரோடிருந்து மகன்களையும் மகள்களையும் பெற்றெடுத்தான்.
14 And, Shelah, lived thirty years, —and begat Eber;
௧௪சாலா 30 வயதானபோது ஏபேரைப் பெற்றெடுத்தான்.
15 and Shelah lived, after he begat Eber, four hundred and three years, —and begat sons and daughters.
௧௫ஏபேரைப் பெற்றபின் சாலா 403 வருடங்கள் உயிரோடிருந்து மகன்களையும் மகள்களையும் பெற்றெடுத்தான்.
16 And Eber lived thirty-four years, —and begat Peleg;
௧௬ஏபேர் 34 வயதானபோது பேலேகைப் பெற்றெடுத்தான்.
17 and Eber lived after he begat Peleg, four hundred and thirty years, —and begat sons and daughters.
௧௭பேலேகைப் பெற்றபின் ஏபேர் 430 வருடங்கள் உயிரோடிருந்து மகன்களையும் மகள்களையும் பெற்றெடுத்தான்.
18 And Peleg lived thirty years, and begat Reu:
௧௮பேலேகு 30 வயதானபோது ரெகூவைப் பெற்றெடுத்தான்.
19 and Peleg lived after he begat Reu, two hundred and nine years, —and begat sons and daughters.
௧௯ரெகூவைப் பெற்றபின் பேலேகு 209 வருடங்கள் உயிரோடிருந்து மகன்களையும் மகள்களையும் பெற்றெடுத்தான்.
20 And Reu lived thirty-two years—and begat Serug;
௨0ரெகூ 32 வயதானபோது செரூகைப் பெற்றெடுத்தான்.
21 and Reu lived after he begat Serug, two hundred and seven years, —and begat sons and daughters.
௨௧செரூகைப் பெற்றபின் ரெகூ 207 வருடங்கள் உயிரோடிருந்து மகன்களையும் மகள்களையும் பெற்றெடுத்தான்.
22 And Serug lived thirty years, —and begat Nahor;
௨௨செரூகு முப்பது 30 நாகோரைப் பெற்றெடுத்தான்.
23 and Serug lived after he begat Nahor, two hundred years, —and begat sons and daughters.
௨௩நாகோரைப் பெற்றபின் செரூகு 200 வருடங்கள் உயிரோடிருந்து மகன்களையும் மகள்களையும் பெற்றெடுத்தான்.
24 And Nahor lived twenty-nine years, —and begat Terah;
௨௪நாகோர் 29 வயதானபோது தேராகைப் பெற்றெடுத்தான்.
25 and Nahor lived, after he begat Terah, a hundred and nineteen years, —and begat sons and daughters.
௨௫தேராகைப் பெற்றபின் நாகோர் 119 வருடங்கள் உயிரோடிருந்து மகன்களையும் மகள்களையும் பெற்றெடுத்தான்.
26 And Terah lived seventy years, —and begat Abram, Nahor, and Haran.
௨௬70 வயதானபோது ஆபிராம், நாகோர், ஆரான் என்பவர்களைப் பெற்றெடுத்தான்.
27 These, then are the generations of Terah, Terah begat Abram, Nahor, and Haran, —and, Haran, begat Lot;
௨௭தேராகுடைய வம்சவரலாறு: தேராகு ஆபிராம், நாகோர், ஆரான் என்பவர்களைப் பெற்றெடுத்தான்; ஆரான் லோத்தைப் பெற்றெடுத்தான்.
28 and Haran died, in the presence of Terah his father, —in the land of his birth, in Ur of the Chaldees.
௨௮ஆரான் தன் பிறந்த இடமாகிய ஊர் என்கிற கல்தேயர் தேசத்துப் பட்டணத்திலே தன் தகப்பனாகிய தேராகு இறப்பதற்குமுன்னே இறந்தான்.
29 And Abram and Nahor took to themselves wives; the name of Abram’s wife, was Sarai; and, the name of Nahor’s wife, Milcah, daughter of Haran father of Milcah, and father of Iscah.
௨௯ஆபிராமும் நாகோரும் திருமணம் செய்தார்கள்; ஆபிராமுடைய மனைவிக்கு சாராய் என்று பெயர்; நாகோருடைய மனைவிக்கு மில்க்காள் என்று பெயர்; இவள் ஆரானுடைய மகள்; அந்த ஆரான் மில்க்காளுக்கும் இஸ்காளுக்கும் தகப்பன்.
30 And, Sarai, remained barren, —she had no child,
௩0சாராய்க்குக் குழந்தையில்லை; மலடியாக இருந்தாள்.
31 And Terah took Abram his son and Lot son of Haran his son’s son, and Sarai his daughter-in-law, wife of Abram his son, —and came forth with them out of Ur of the Chaldees, that they might go their way towards the land of Canaan, and they came in as far as Haran and dwelt there.
௩௧தேராகு தன் மகனாகிய ஆபிராமையும், ஆரானுடைய மகனும், தன்னுடைய பேரனுமாயிருந்த லோத்தையும், ஆபிராமுடைய மனைவியாகிய தன்னுடைய மருமகள் சாராயையும் அழைத்துக்கொண்டு, அவர்களுடன் ஊர் என்கிற கல்தேயர்களுடைய பட்டணத்தைவிட்டு, கானான் தேசத்திற்குப் போகப் புறப்பட்டான்; அவர்கள் ஆரான்வரைக்கும் வந்தபோது, அங்கே தங்கிவிட்டார்கள்.
32 And the days of Terah were two hundred and five years, —and Terah died in Haran.
௩௨தேராகுடைய ஆயுசு நாட்கள் 205 வருடங்கள்; தேராகு ஆரானிலே இறந்தான்.
