< Ezra 9 >

1 Now, when these things were ended, the rulers drew near unto me, saying, The people of Israel and the priests and the Levites have not kept themselves separate from the peoples of the lands, —in view of their abominations-even of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Jebusites, the Ammonites, the Moabites, the Egyptians, and the Amorites;
Hae hmuennawk sak pacoengah, kacoehtanawk kai khaeah angzoh o, Israel kaminawk, qaima hoi Levinawk loe nihcae taengah kaom prae kaminawk hoi angkom o moe, Kanaan kami, Hit kami, Periz kami, Jebus kami, Ammon kami, Moab kami, Izip kami hoi Amor kaminawk mah sak o ih panuet thok hmuennawk to a sak o toeng.
2 for they have taken of their daughters, for themselves and for their sons, so that the holy seed have intermingled themselves among the peoples of the lands, —and, the hand of the rulers and the deputies, hath, in this unfaithfulness, been, foremost.
To prae ah kaom kaminawk ih canunawk to angmacae hanah lak o, a caanawk hanah doeh a lak pae o; to tiah kaciim acaeng loe kaciim ai nihcae taengah kaom kaminawk hoiah angbaeh o puk boeh; ue, zaehoikungnawk hoi ukkung angraengnawk loe hae baktih zae sakhaih bangah lu koek ah oh o boeh, tiah a thuih o.
3 When I heard this thing, I rent my garment, and my robe, —and tore out of the hair of my head and my beard, and sat stunned.
Hae lok ka thaih naah, athung hoi anui ih khukbuen to kang khringh; ka lu sam hoi pahni mui to ka phong moe, dawnraihaih hoiah kang hnut sut.
4 Then, unto me, were gathered, all who trembled at the words of the God of Israel, concerning the unfaithfulness of them who had been exiled, —but, I, sat stunned, until the evening gift.
To naah Israel Sithaw ih lok zithaih tawn kaminawk boih, kai khaeah amkhueng o; misong ah naeh ih kaminawk mah sak ih zaehaih pongah, duembang angbawnhaih atue khoek to dawnraihaih hoiah ka oh.
5 And, at the evening gift, I arose from mine affliction, which had been accompanied by the rending of my garment and my robe, —and I bowed upon my knees, and spread forth my hands unto Yahweh my God;
To pacoengah duembang angbawnhaih tue phak naah, dawnraihaih hoiah kang thawk; athung hoi a nui ih khukbuen to ka sih, khokkhu cangkrawn moe, ka Angraeng Sithaw khaeah ban payanghaih hoiah lawk ka thuih.
6 and said, O my God, I turn pale and am ashamed, to lift up, O my God, my face unto thee, —for, our iniquities, have multiplied above the head, and our guilt hath magnified itself unto the heavens.
Aw ka Angraeng, kaicae sakpazaehaih loe kaimacae lu pongah sang kue boeh, ka zae o haih doeh vannawk to angtok boeh; to pongah ka Sithaw, na mikhmai khet hanah ka zat sut boeh.
7 Since the days of our fathers, we, have been in great guilt, until this day, —and, for our iniquities, have we been given up—we, our kings, our priests, —into the hand of the kings of the lands, by sword and by captivity and by spoiling and by a turning pale of face, as at this day.
Kam panawk dung hoi kamtong vaihni ni khoek to, paroeai kalen zaehaih ka sak o boeh; kaimacae zaehaih pongah, siangpahrangnawk, qaimanawk hoi kaicae loe vaihni ni khoek to, acaeng kalah siangpahrang ban ah paekhaih, sumsen hoi humhaih, misong ah ohhaih, anghmat angtaahaih hoi mikhmai sethaihnawk ka tongh o boeh.
8 And, now, for a very little moment, hath come favour from Yahweh our God, in leaving to us a remnant to escape, and in giving to us a nail in his holy place, —that our God may enlighten our eyes, and give us a little reviving in our bondage.
Toe vaihi atue setta thungah, kaicae Angraeng Sithaw mah a tahmenhaih amtuengsak pongah, kanghmat kaicae hae ang loisak moe, a hmuenciim ah sumdik baktih kacak ohhaih ahmuen to ang paek; kaicae ih Sithaw mah mik amtuengsak moe, misong angtanghaih thung hoi kaloih hinghaih to ang paek let.
9 For, bondmen, we are, but, in our bondage, hath our God not forsaken us, —but extended unto us lovingkindness before the kings of Persia, to give us a reviving, to set up on high the house of our God, to raise up the desolations thereof, and to give us a wall in Judah and in Jerusalem.
Kaicae loe misong ah ka oh o; misong ah ka oh o cadoeh, kaimacae ih Sithaw mah na caeh taak ai; kaimacae Sithaw ih im to ka sak o let moe, hinghaih kangtha paek hanah, kamro hmuen to pakhraih let moe, Judah hoi Jerusalem ah sipae kaom abuephaih ang paek hanah, a tahmenhaih to Persia siangpahrang hmaa ah amtuengsak boeh.
10 But, now, what can we say, O our God, after this? for we have forsaken thy commandments,
Vaihiah, Aw kaicae ih Sithaw, nang paek ih lok to ka pahnawt o sut boeh pongah, hae pacoengah timaw ka thuih o han vop?
11 which thou didst command by the hand of thy servants the prophets, saying, As for the land which, ye, are entering to possess, an impure land, it is, with the impurity of the peoples of the lands, —with their abominations, which have filled it from one end to the other, with their uncleanness.
Na tamna tahmaanawk patohhaih rang hoiah, Na caeh moe, na toep o han ih prae loe, to ah khosah kamhnong kaminawk pongah, prae doeh panuet thoh boeh, prae boih a sak o ih panuet thok hmuen hoiah koi o sak boeh.
12 Now, therefore, your daughters, do not ye give to their sons, and, their daughters, do not ye take for your sons, neither shall ye seek their prosperity nor their pleasure unto times age-abiding, —to the end ye may become strong, and may eat the good of the land, and may suffer your children to possess it, unto times age-abiding.
To pongah, na canunawk to nihcae capanawk hanah paek o hmah loe, nichae ih canunawk doeh na capanawk hanah zu ah la pae o hmah; natuek naah doeh nihcae hoi ampui angkomhaih sah o hmah loe, nihcae angraenghaih doeh pakrong o hmah; to tiah na oh o nahaeloe tha na cak o tih; prae thung ih kahoih hmuen to na caa o ueloe, na caanawk mah dungzan khoek to qawk ah toep o tih, tiah lok na thuih.
13 And, after all that hath come upon us, for our wicked doings, and for our great guilt—For, thou, O our God, hast spared us, punishing us less than our iniquities deserved, and hast given us a deliverance such as this,
Kaicae nuiah kapha hmuen loe ka sak o ih sethaih hoi kalen parai sakpazaehaih atho ah ni oh boeh; toe kaicae ih Sithaw, kaicae mah tongh han koi zaehaih baktiah dan nang paek ai moe, hae tiah nang loisak.
14 should we again break thy commandments and join ourselves by affinity of marriage with the peoples of these abominations, —wouldst thou not be angry with us, unto a full end, that there should be neither remainder nor deliverance?
Nang paek ih loknawk to ka aek o moe, panuet thok hmuen sah kaminawk hoiah kam zok o let nahaeloe, kami maeto doeh pathlung ai ah tamit boih hanah, kaicae nuiah palung na phui mak ai maw?
15 O Yahweh, God of Israel, righteous thou art, for we have had left us a deliverance as at this day, —here we are, before thee, in our guilty deeds, for there is no standing before thee, because of this thing!
