< Ezra 5 >
1 Then were moved to prophesy, Haggai the prophet, and Zechariah son of Iddo, the prophets, unto the Jews who were in Judaea and in Jerusalem, —in the name of the God of Israel, unto them.
A LAILA o na kaula, o Hagai ke kaula, a o Zokaria ke keiki a Ido, wanana aku la laua i na Iudaio ma Iuda, a ma Ierusalema, ma ka inoa o ke Akua o ka Iseraela ia lakou.
2 Then arose—Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua son of Jozadak, and began to build the house of God, which was in Jerusalem, —and, with them, were the prophets of God, strengthening them.
Ia manawa ku ae la o Zerubabela ke keiki a Sealetiela, a me Iesua, ke keiki a Iozadaka, a hoomaka aku e hana i ka hale o ke Akua ma Ierusalema; a me laua pu na kaula o ke Akua e kokua ana ia laua.
3 At that time, came unto them Tattenai pasha Beyond the River, and Shethar-bozenai, and their associates, —and, thus, spake they unto them, Who hath issued unto you an edict, this house, to build, and, this wall, to complete?
A ia wa hoi, hele mai io lakou la o Tatenai, ke kiaaina o keia aoao o ka muliwai, a me Setare-bozenai, a me ko laua mau hoalawehana, a olelo mai ia lakou peneia, Nawni oukou i kauoha mai e hana i keia hale, a e hoopaa hoi i keia papohaku.
4 Then, after this manner, spake we unto them, —What are the names of these men, who, this building, do rear?
Alaila ninau aku hoi makou ia lakou peneia, Owai ka inoa o na kanaka, nana e hana keia hale?
5 Nevertheless, the eye of their God, was upon the elders of Judah, and they did not forbid them, until the matter, unto Darius, should come, —and, then, answer be returned by letter, concerning this.
Aka, o ka maka o ko lakou Akua, aia no ia maluna o ka poe lunakahiko o na Iudaio, aole lakou i hiki ke hooki aku ia lakou, a hiki ia mea io Dariu la; alaila hoouna aku la lakou i ka palapala no keia mea.
6 A copy of the letter which Tattenai pasha Beyond the River, and Shethar-bozenai, and his associates, the Apharsachites, who were Beyond the Rivet, sent unto Darius the king:
Eia ka palapala a Tatenai, ke kiaaina o keia aoao o ka muliwai, a o Setare-bozenai, a me kona poe hoalawehana, ka poe Aparesaka, ma keia aoao o ka muliwai, i hoouna aku ai ia Dariu ke alii:
7 a message, sent they unto him, —and, thus, was it written therein, Unto Darius the king, all prosperity!
Hoouna aku la lakou i ka palapala ia ia, peneia i kakauia'i maloko, Na Dariu ke alii, e aloha nui ia oia.
8 Be it known unto the king, that we journeyed into the province of Judah, unto the house of the Great God, and, the same, is being built with large stones, and, timber, is being laid in the walls, —and, this work, with speed, is being done, and is prospering in their hands.
E hoikeia i ke alii, i hele ai makou i ka aina o ka Iuda i ka hale o ke Akua nui, ka mea i hanaia i ka pohaku i kalaiia a me ka laau i hoonohoia maloko o na papohaku, a ke hana wikiwiki ia keia hana, a e ko ana ia iloko o ko lakou lima.
9 Then asked we of these elders, thus, we said to them, —Who hath issued to you an edict, this house, to build, and, this wall, to complete?
Alaila ninau aku la makou i kela poe lunakahiko, a i aku la ia lakou, Nawai oukou i kauoha mai e hana i keia hale, a e hoopaa hoi i keia mau papohaku?
10 Yea, their names also, asked we of them, to certify thee, —that we might write the name, of the men who are at their head.
Ninau aku hoi makou i ko lakou inoa, i hoike aku ai makou ia oe, a i kakau iho ai hoi i ka inoa o na kanaka, ka poe luna hoi o lakou.
11 And, thus, returned they, answer, to us saying, —We, are servants of the God of the heavens and the earth, and are building the house which was built these many years ago, which, a great king of Israel, built and completed.
A hai mai lakou i ka olelo ia makou peneia, i mai la, He poe kauwa makou na ke Akua o ka lani, a o ka honua, a ke hana nei i ka hale, i ka mea i hanaia i na makahiki mamua loa aku, a kekahi alii nui o ka Iseraela i hana, a hoopaa aku ia.
12 But, after that our fathers had provoked the God of the heavens to wrath, he delivered them into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, the Chaldean, —and, this house, he destroyed, and, the people, he exiled to Babylon.
Aka, mahope o ka hoonaukiuki ana o ko makou poe makua i ke Akua o ka lani, haawi oia ia lakou iloko o ka lima o Nebukaneza ke alii o Babulona, no Kaledea, nana i wawahi keia hale, a lawe pio aku la i na kanaka i Babulona.
13 Howbeit, in the first year of Cyrus king of Babylon, Cyrus the king, issued an edict, this house of God, to build.
Aka, i ka makahiki mua o Kuro ke alii o Babulona, kauoha aku la o Kuro ke alii, e hana i ka hale o ke Akua.
14 Moreover also, the utensils of the house of God, of gold and silver, which, Nebuchadnezzar, had brought forth out of the temple which was in Jerusalem, and had brought into the temple of Babylon, Cyrus the king, brought them forth, out of the temple of Babylon, —and they were delivered to one Sheshbazzar by name, whom he made, pasha;
A o na kiaha gula, a me ke kala o ka hale o ke Akua, na mea a Nebukaneza i lawe ae marloko mai o ka luakini ma Ierusalema, a hali aku ia mau mea i ka luakini ma Babulona, oia mau mea ka Kuro ke alii i lawe ni mailoko mai o ka luakini ma Babulona, a ua haawiia oia mau mea i kekahi, o Sesehazara kona inoa, ka mea ana i hoonoho ai i kiaaina;
15 and said to him—These utensils, take, go carry them into the temple that is in Jerusalem, —and let, the house of God, be built in its place.
I aku la ia ia, E lawe i keia mau kiaha, e hele e hali aku ia mau mea i ka luakini ma Ierusalema, a e hanaia ka hale o ke Akua ma kona wahi.
16 Then, this Sheshbazzar, came, he laid the foundations of the house of God, which was in Jerusalem, —and, since then, even until now, it hath been in building, and is not finished.
Alaila hele mai o ua Sesebazara la, a hoouoho i ke kahua o ka hale o ke Akua ma Ierusalema: a mai ia manawa a keia wa ka hana ana, aole nae i paa.
17 Now, therefore, if, unto the king, it seem good, let search be made in the treasure-house of the king which is there, in Babylon, whether it be so, that, from Cyrus the king, issued an edict, to build this house of God, in Jerusalem, —and, the pleasure of the king concerning this, let him send unto us.
Ano hoi, ina he mea pono i ke alii, e imihia ma ka hale waihonawaiwai o ke alii ma Babulona, ina he oiaio, ua kauohaia e Kuro e hana i keia hale o ke Akua ma Ierusalema; a e hoouna mai ke alii i kona manao no keia mea.
