Ezekiel 5

1 Thou therefore son of man Take thee a sharp cutting instrument, a barber’s razor, shalt thou take thee, and shalt cause it to pass upon thy head and upon thy chin, —and shalt take the balances for weighing, and shalt divide the hair.

Et toi, fils d’un homme, prends un glaive affilé, qui rase les poils; et tu le prendras, et tu le feras passer sur ta tête et sur ta barbe, et tu prendras pour toi un poids de balance, et tu les partageras.

2 A third part in the fire, shalt thou burn in the midst of the city, when the days of the siege are fulfilled, —and thou shalt take a third part, thou shalt smite it with the cuting instrument round about it, and a third part, shalt thou scatter to the wind, and, a sword, will I, make bare after them;

Tu en brûleras un tiers au feu au milieu de la cité, dans l’accomplissement des jours du siège; et tu en prendras un autre tiers, et tu le couperas avec le glaive autour de cette cité; mais l’autre tiers, tu le disperseras au vent; et je tirerai le glaive après eux.

3 and thou shalt take from thence, a few in number, —and shalt bind them in thy skirts;

Et tu prendras de là un petit nombre; et tu les lieras dans le coin de ton manteau.

4 and of them, again take, and cast them into the midst of the fire, and burn them in the fire, -therefrom, shall go forth a fire unto all the house of Israel.

Et tu prendras encore de ceux-ci, et tu les jetteras au milieu du feu, et tu les brûleras au feu, et de là sortira un feu qui s’étendra sur toute la maison d’Israël.

5 Thus, saith My Lord, Yahweh, This, is Jerusalem, In the midst of the nations, I placed her, — and of the countries round about her;

Voici ce que dit le Seigneur Dieu: C’est là Jérusalem: je l’ai placée au milieu des nations, et j’ai mis autour d’elle des pays.

6 But she hath changed my regulations into lawlessness, more than the nations, And my statutes more than the countries which are round bout her, For my regulations, have they rejected, And in my statutes, have they not walked.

Et elle a méprisé mes ordonnances jusqu’à se rendre plus impie que les nations, et mes préceptes, plus que les nations qui sont autour d’elle; car ils ont rejeté mes ordonnances; et dans mes préceptes ils n’ont pas marché.

7 Therefore, Thus saith My Lord, Yahweh. Because ye have become more rebellious than the nations who are round about you, In my statutes, have not walked. And my regulations, have not done, And according to the regulations of the nations which are round about you, have not done:

C’est pourquoi voici ce que dit le Seigneur Dieu: Parce que vous avez surpassé en impiété les nations qui sont autour de vous, et que vous n’avez pas marché dans mes préceptes, et que vous n’avez pas observé mes ordonnances, et que vous n’avez pas même agi comme les peuples qui sont autour de vous,

8 Therefore, Thus, saith My Lord Yahweh, Lo! I am against thee, even I, Therefore will I, execute in thy midst, judgments, in the eyes of the nations;

Pour cette raison, voici ce que dit le Seigneur: Voilà que moi, je viens vers toi, et moi-même j’exercerai des jugements au milieu de toi, aux yeux des nations;

9 Yea I will execute upon thee that which I have not executed, And like unto which I will not execute again, - Because of all thine abominations.

Et je ferai contre toi ce que je n’ai pas fait, et je ne ferai plus de choses semblables, à cause de tes abominations.

10 Therefore, fathers will eat sons in thy midst, And sons will eat fathers, — And I will execute upon thee judgments, And will scatter the whole remnant of thee, to every wind.

Pour cette raison, des pères mangeront leurs enfants au milieu de toi, et des enfants mangeront leurs pères; et j’exercerai en toi des jugements, et je jetterai tous tes restes à tout vent.

11 Therefore as I live, Declareth My Lord Yahweh, — Surely because my sanctuary, thou hast defiled, with all thy detestable things, and with all thine abominations Even I also, will cut off, and mine eye, shall not spare, Yea even I will not pity.

C’est pourquoi je vis, moi, dit le Seigneur Dieu; si, parce que tu as violé mon sanctuaire par toutes tes offenses et par toutes tes abominations, je ne te brise pas, moi aussi; et mon œil n’épargnera pas, et je n’aurai pas de pitié.

12 The third part of thee by pestilence, shall die, and by famine, be consumed in thy midst And the third part by the sword, shall fall round about thee, - And the third part to every wind, will I scatter, and a sword, will I make bare after them.

Le tiers de toi mourra de la peste, et sera consumé par la faim, au milieu de toi; et un autre tiers de toi tombera sous le glaive autour de toi; mais l’autre tiers, je le disperserai à tout vent, et je tirerai le glaive après eux.

13 So shall mine anger have an end, And I will cause mine indignation, to find rest, upon them, and will console myself, - And they shall know that, I, Yahweh, have spoken in my jealousy, when mine indignation hath come to an end, upon them.

Et j’assouvirai ma fureur, et je ferai reposer sur eux mon indignation, et je serai consolé; et ils sauront que moi, le Seigneur, j’ai parlé dans mon zèle, lorsque j’aurai assouvi mon indignation sur eux.

14 And I will deliver thee up to desolation and reproach, among the nations that are round about thee, —in the eyes of every passer-by.

Et je ferai de toi un désert, et un objet d’opprobre pour les nations qui sont autour de toi, aux yeux de tout passant.

15 So shall it become a reproach and an insult a warning and an astonishment, to the nations that are round about thee, —in that I have executed upon thee judgments in anger and in indignation and in rebukes of indignation, I, Yahweh have spoken:

Et tu seras un objet d’opprobre et de blasphème, un exemple et un objet de stupeur pour les nations qui sont autour de toi, lorsque j’aurai exercé en toi des jugements dans ma fureur, dans mon indignation, et avec les châtiments de ma colère.

16 In that I have sent the malignant arrows of famine among them which were for destruction, which I will send to destroy you, —and famine, will I increase upon you, and will break for you the staff of bread.

Moi, le Seigneur, j’ai dit: Lorsque j’enverrai contre eux les flèches cruelles de la faim, qui donneront la mort, et que j’enverrai pour vous perdre entièrement; j’amasserai la faim sur vous, et je briserai parmi vous le bâton du pain.

17 So will I send upon you famine and mischievous beast and they shall bereave thee, —and pestilence and blood, shall pass through thee, —and a sword, will I bring in upon thee, I Yahweh, have spoken.

Et j’enverrai contre vous la faim et des animaux cruels jusqu’à votre extermination; et la peste et le sang passeront au milieu de toi, et j’amènerai le glaive sur toi; c’est moi, le Seigneur, qui l’ai dit.
