Ezekiel 35
1 And the word of Yahweh came unto me, saying,
Mi fu rivolta questa parola del Signore:
2 Son of man Set thy face against Mount Seir, —and prophesy against it;
«Figlio dell'uomo, volgiti verso il monte Seir e profetizza contro di esso.
3 and thou shalt say to it Thus saith My Lord Yahweh, Behold me! against thee Mount Seir, —Therefore will I stretch out my hand against thee, And I will make thee a desolation and an astonishment:
Eccomi a te, monte Seir, anche su di te stenderò il mio braccio e farò di te una solitudine, un luogo desolato. Annunzierai: Dice il Signore Dio:
4 Thy cities, will I lay waste, And thou—a desolation, shalt become, So shalt thou know that I, am Yahweh.
Ridurrò le tue città in macerie, e tu diventerai un deserto; così saprai che io sono il Signore.
5 Because thou hast had an age-abiding enmity, And hast delivered up the sons of Israel unto the hands of the sword, - In the time of their misfortune, In the time of the final punishment for iniquity,
Tu hai mantenuto un odio secolare contro gli Israeliti e li hai consegnati alla spada nel giorno della loro sventura, quando ho posto fine alla loro iniquità;
6 Therefore, as I live, Declareth My Lord Yahweh, Surely regarding blood, will I deal with thee, Blood therefore, shall pursue thee, -Since blood thou hast not hated, Therefore blood, shall pursue thee,
per questo, com'è vero ch'io vivo - dice il Signore Dio - ti abbandonerò al sangue e il sangue ti perseguiterà; tu hai odiato il sangue e il sangue ti perseguiterà.
7 So then I will deliver up Mount Seir to desolation after desolation, - And will cut off therefrom him that passeth by and him that returneth,
Farò del monte Seir una solitudine e un deserto e vi eliminerò chiunque su di esso va e viene.
8 And I will fill his mountains with his slain, — As for thy hills and thy hollows and all thy channels, they who are thrust through by the sword shall fall therein:
Riempirò di cadaveri i tuoi monti; sulle tue alture, per le tue pendici, in tutte le tue valli cadranno i trafitti di spada.
9 Desolations age-abiding, will I make thee, And thy cities, shall not be inhabited, - So shall ye know that, I, am Yahweh.
In solitudine perenne ti ridurrò e le tue città non saranno più abitate: saprete che io sono il Signore.
10 Because thou hast said, the two nations, and the two lands, mine, shall become, that we may possess it Whereas Yahweh, had been there,
Poiché hai detto: Questi due popoli, questi due territori saranno miei, noi li possiederemo, anche se là è il Signore.
11 Therefore as I live, Declareth My Lord Yahweh, I will even deal according to thine anger, and according to thine envy, wherewith thou hast dealt, out of thy hatred with them, - So will I make myself known among them as soon as I shall judge thee
Per questo, com'è vero ch'io vivo - oracolo del Signore Dio - io agirò secondo quell'ira e quel furore che tu hai dimostrato nell'odio contro di loro e mi rivelerò in mezzo a loro quando farò giustizia di te:
12 And thou shalt know that, I Yahweh, have heard all thy revilings which thou hast uttered against the mountains of Israel saying, They have become desolate, — To us, have they been given for food;
saprai allora che io sono il Signore. Ho udito tutti gli insulti che tu hai proferiti contro i monti d'Israele: Sono deserti; son dati a noi perché vi pascoliamo.
13 And so ye have magnified yourselves against me with your mouth, And have caused to abound against me your words, —I, have heard!
Contro di me avete fatto discorsi insolenti, contro di me avete moltiplicato le parole: ho udito tutto.
14 Thus, saith My Lord Yahweh, — When all the earth is rejoicing, a desolation, will I make thee:
Così dice il Signore Dio: Poiché tutto il paese ha gioito, farò di te una solitudine:
15 As thou didst rejoice over the inheritance of the house of Israel because it had become a desolation, so, will, I, do unto thee, — A desolation, shalt thou become, O Mount Seir And all Edom all of it, So shall they know that, I, am Yahweh.
poiché tu hai gioito per l'eredità della casa d'Israele che era devastata, così io tratterò te: sarai ridotto a una solitudine, o monte Seir, e tu Edom, tutto intero; si saprà che io sono il Signore».
