Ezekiel 3
1 Then said he unto me, Son of man What thou findest, eat, —eat this roll, and go speak unto the house of Israel.
Et Il me dit: Fils de l'homme, mange ce que tu trouves devant toi; mange ce volume, et t'en va parler à la maison d'Israël.
2 So I opened my mouth, —and he caused me to eat this roll.
Et j'ouvris la bouche, et Il me donna ce volume à manger.
3 Then said he unto me Son of man. Thy belly, cause thou to eat and thy bowels, fill thou with this roll which I am giving unto thee. So I did eat, and it became in my mouth, as honey for sweetness.
Et Il me dit: Fils de l'homme, nourris ton ventre et remplis tes entrailles de ce volume que je te présente. Et je le mangeai, et il avait dans ma bouche la douceur du miel.
4 Then said he unto me, — Son of man Go get thee unto the house of Israel, and thou shalt speak with my words, unto them.
Et Il me dit: Fils de l'homme, marche et va vers la maison d'Israël, et parle-leur en prenant mes paroles!
5 For not unto a people deep of lip and heavy of tongue, art thou sent —[but] unto the house of Israel:
Car ce n'est point vers un peuple au langage obscur, à la langue inintelligible, que tu es envoyé, c'est à la maison d'Israël;
6 not unto many peoples deep of lip and heavy of tongue, whose words thou couldst not understand, —surely if unto them I had sent thee, they would have hearkened unto thee.
ce n'est pas à des peuples nombreux au langage obscur, à la langue inintelligible, dont tu ne comprends pas les discours: assurément si je t'envoyais à eux, ils t'écouteraient.
7 But the house of Israel will not be willing to hearken unto thee, for they are not willing to hearken unto me, —for all the house of Israel are bold of forehead and hard of heart.
Mais la maison d'Israël ne voudra pas t'écouter, car ils n'ont pas la volonté de m'écouter. Car toute la maison d'Israël a le front insensible et le cœur endurci.
8 Lo! I have made thy face bold like as their faces, and thy forehead bold like as their forehead.
Voici, j'ai endurci ton visage, pour faire face à leur visage, et j'ai endurci ton front, pour faire face à leur front.
9 As an adamant harder than flint, have I made thy forehead, —thou shalt not fear them neither shalt thou be dismayed at their faces, For a perverse house, they are!
J'ai rendu ton front comme le diamant, plus dur que le roc. N'aie point peur d'eux, et ne tremble point devant eux, car ils sont une race réfractaire.
10 Then said he unto me, — Son of man. All my words which I shall speak unto thee, receive thou into thy heart and in thine ears, hear thou:
Et Il me dit: Fils de l'homme, reçois dans ton cœur toutes mes paroles que je t'adresse, et écoute-les de tes oreilles.
11 then go get thee unto them of the captivity, unto the sons of thy people, and thou shalt speak unto them and say unto them, Thus saith My Lord Yahweh, whether they will hear or whether they will forbear.
Ainsi, marche et va vers les captifs, vers les enfants de ton peuple, parle-leur et dis-leur: « Ainsi parle le Seigneur, l'Éternel: » qu'ils écoutent ou qu'ils s'y refusent.
12 Then the Spirit lifted me up, and I heard behind me the sound of a great rushing, — Blessed be the glory of Yahweh. From his place!
Et l'Esprit me souleva, et j'entendis derrière moi le bruit d'une grande rumeur: « Bénie soit la majesté de l'Éternel depuis sa demeure! »
13 Yea the sound of the wings of the living ones, gently touching each other, and the sound of the wheels, along with them, even the sound of a great rushing.
et le bruit des ailes des animaux qui s'entre-heurtaient, et le bruit des roues à leurs côtés, et le bruit d'une grande rumeur.
14 So the Spirit lifted me up, and took me away, —and I went bitterly, in the rage of my spirit, but the hand of Yahweh upon me was strong.
Et l'Esprit me souleva et m'emporta. Et je m'en allai irrité dans l'amertume de mon âme; mais la main de l'Éternel agissait sur moi avec puissance.
15 Thus came I unto them of the captivity, at Tel-abib. who were dwelling towards he river Chebar and I dwelt where They were dwelling; yea I dwelt there seven days, stunned in their midst,
Et j'arrivai auprès des captifs à Thel-Abib, habitant près du fleuve Chébar, et je m'arrêtai où ils demeuraient, et je demeurai là sept jours, éperdu au milieu d'eux.
16 And it came to pass at the end of seven days, that the word of Yahweh came unto me saying
Et au bout des sept jours, la parole de l'Éternel me fut adressée en ces mots:
17 Son of man, A watchman, have I appointed thee to the house of Israel, —and thou shalt hear, at my mouth a message, and shalt warn them from me.
Fils de l'homme, je t'ai établi sentinelle sur la maison d'Israël, et de ma bouche tu entendras la parole, et tu les avertiras de par moi.
18 When I say to the lawless man— Thou shalt surely die, and thou hast not given him warning, neither hast spoken to warn the lawless man from his lawless way, to save himself alive the same lawless man in his iniquity shall die, but his blood, at thy hand, will I require.
Quand j'aurai dit à l'impie: Tu mourras! et que tu ne l'avertisses pas, et ne parles pas pour détourner l'impie de sa voie impie, afin qu'il vive, cet impie mourra de son péché; mais je te redemanderai son sang.
19 Whereas when thou hast warned a lawless man, and he hath not turned from his lawlessness and from his lawless way he in his iniquity shall die, but Thou hast delivered thine own soul.
Mais si tu as averti l'impie, et qu'il ne revienne pas de son impiété et de sa voie impie, il mourra de son péché: mais toi tu auras sauvé ton âme.
20 And when a righteous man hath turned from his righteousness, and committed perversity, and I have suffered a stumbling- block to be laid before him he shall die, —though thou hast not warned him, in his sin, shall he die, neither shall be remembered his righteous deeds which he hath done, but his blood, at thy hand will I require;
Que si un juste se détourne de sa justice et fait le mal, alors je mettrai devant lui un piège qui le fera tomber, et il mourra. Si tu ne l'as pas averti, il mourra de son péché, et il ne sera tenu aucun compte de la justice qu'il a pratiquée; mais je te redemanderai son sang.
21 whereas when Thou hast warned a righteous man. That a righteous man must not sin and he hath not sinned, he shall surely live in that he took warning, and thou hast delivered thine own soul.
Mais si tu as averti le juste de ne pas pécher, et que ce juste ne pèche pas, il aura la vie, parce qu'il se sera laissé avertir, et toi, tu auras sauvé ton âme.
22 Then came upon me there the hand of Yahweh, —and he said unto me, Arise go forth into the valley, and there, will I speak with thee.
Là encore la main de l'Éternel se posa sur moi et Il me dit: Lève-toi, sors et va dans la vallée, et là je te parlerai.
23 So I arose and went forth into the valley, and lo! there the glory of Yahweh, standing, like the glory which I saw by the river Chebar, -and I fell upon my face.
Et m'étant levé je sortis et allai dans la vallée, et voici, la gloire de l'Éternel m'y apparut, telle que la gloire que j'avais vue près du fleuve Chébar, et je tombai la face contre terre.
24 Then the Spirit entered into me, and caused me to stand upon my feet, —and he spake with me and said unto me, Go in shut thyself up, in the midst of thine own house,
Et l'Esprit me pénétra et me dressa sur mes pieds. Puis Il me parla et me dit: Va et te renferme dans ta maison!
25 And thou—O son of man, lo! they have put upon thee bands, and they will bind thee therewith, -. so that thou go not forth in their midst;
Quant à toi, fils de l'homme, voici, on te mettra des chaînes, et on t'en liera, et tu ne pourras te montrer parmi eux.
26 thy tongue also, will I cause to cleave unto the roof of thy mouth, so shalt thou be dumb and not be to them a reprover, — For a perverse house, they are!
Et j'attacherai ta langue à ton palais, et tu seras muet et ne seras point pour eux un censeur, car ils sont une race réfractaire.
27 But when I speak with thee, I will open thy mouth, and thou shalt say unto them. Thus saith My Lord Yahweh, —He that is minded to hear, let him hear, And he that is minded to forbear, let him forbear! For a perverse house, they are!
Mais quand je t'adresserai la parole, je t'ouvrirai la bouche, pour que tu leur dises: Ainsi parle le Seigneur, l'Éternel. Que celui qui voudra écouter, écoute, et que celui qui n'en voudra rien faire, n'en fasse rien; car ils sont une race réfractaire.
