Ezekiel 29
1 In the tenth year, in the tenth month, on the twelfth of the month, came the word of Yahweh unto me, saying:
Dans la dixième année, le dixième mois, le douze du mois, la parole de l’Eternel me fut adressée en ces termes:
2 Son of man, Set thy face against Pharaoh, king of Egypt, And prophesy against him, and against Egypt all of it:
"Fils de l’homme, dirige ta face contre Pharaon, roi d’Egypte, et prophétise sur lui et sur l’Egypte entière.
3 Speak, and thou shalt say— Thus, saith My Lord Yahweh Behold me! against thee O Pharaoh king of Egypt, The great Crocodile that lieth along in the midst of his rivers: Who saith— My river is, mine own, Since I myself made it me!
Prononce ces paroles: Ainsi parle le Seigneur Dieu: Voici, je m’en prends à toi, Pharaon, roi d’Egypte, grand crocodile, couché au milieu de tes fleuves, toi qui dis: "Mon fleuve est à moi, c’est moi qui me le suis fait!"
4 Therefore will I put hooks in thy jaws, And cause the fish of thy rivers to stick fast in thy scales, - And will bring thee up out of the midst of thy rivers, And, all the fish of thy rivers, to thy scales, shall stick fast;
Je passerai des crochets à tes mâchoires, je collerai à tes écailles les poissons de tes fleuves. Je te tirerai du milieu de tes fleuves, et tous les poissons de tes fleuves adhéreront à tes écailles.
5 And I will stretch thee out towards the desert, Thee and all the fish of thy rivers, On the face of the field, shalt thou lie Thou shalt not be carried away nor shalt thou be gathered, To the wild beast of the earth and to the bird of the heavens, have I given thee for food.
Et je te jetterai dans le désert, toi et tous les poissons de tes fleuves; tu tomberas sur la surface des champs, tu ne seras ni ramassé ni recueilli. Aux bêtes de la terre et aux oiseaux du ciel, je t’ai donné en pâture.
6 So shall all the inhabitants of Egypt know that I, am Yahweh, Because they were a staff of reed to the house of Israel:
Tous les habitants d’Egypte sauront alors que c’est moi l’Eternel, parce qu’ils avaient prêté un appui de roseau à la maison d’Israël.
7 Whensoever they took hold of thee by the hand, thou didst run through, and tear open for them every hand, —And whensoever they leaned upon thee, thou didst break, and caused all their loins to halt.
Lorsqu’ils te saisissent par la main, tu te romps et tu leur transperces toutes les épaules; lorsqu’ils s’appuient sur toi, tu te brises, et tu leur paralyses tous les reins.
8 Therefore, Thus saith My Lord Yahweh, Behold me! bringing upon thee a sword, - And I will cut off out of thee, man and beast;
C’Est pourquoi, ainsi parle le Seigneur Dieu, voici, je vais susciter contre toi l’épée et retrancher de toi hommes et bêtes:
9 And the land of Egypt shall become an astonishment and a desolation, So shall they know that, I, am Yahweh, —Because he said— The river is mine own, Since, I, myself made it!
Le pays d’Egypte deviendra une solitude et une ruine, et l’on saura que c’est moi l’Eternel parce qu’il a dit: "Le fleuve est à moi, et c’est moi qui l’ai fait."
10 Therefore, behold me! against thee and against thy rivers, - And I will make the land of Egypt to be most desolate an astounding desolation, from Migdol to Syene even up to the boundary of Ethiopia:
Oui, certes, je m’en prends à toi et à tes fleuves et je ferai du pays d’Egypte des ruines désolées et solitaires, de Migdol à Syène et aux confins de l’Ethiopie.
11 The foot of man shall not pass through it, Nor shall the foot of beast, pass through it, Neither shall it be inhabited forty years:
Nul pied d’homme ne la foulera, nul animal n’y portera ses pas: il ne sera plus habité pendant quarante années.
12 So will I make the land of Egypt a desolation in the midst of lands made desolate And her cities—in the midst of cities that have been laid waste, shall become a desolation forty years, - And I will disperse the Egyptians among the nations, And scatter them throughout the lands.
Je rendrai le pays d’Egypte désolé entre les pays désolés, et ses villes, parmi les villes ruinées, seront une solitude durant quarante années; je disperserai les Egyptiens parmi les peuples, je les disséminerai dans les pays.
13 For thus, saith My Lord Yahweh, — At the end of forty years, will I gather the Egyptians from among the peoples whither I had dispersed them;
Oui, ainsi parle le Seigneur Dieu, au bout de quarante années, je rassemblerai les Egyptiens du milieu des nations où ils auront été dispersés.
14 And I will turn the captivity of the Egyptians, And will cause them to return To the land of Pathros Upon the land of their nativity, - And they shall become, there a kingdom abased:
Je ramènerai les captifs égyptiens et je les rétablirai sur la terre de Pathros, leur pays d’origine; mais ils n’y formeront qu’un humble royaume.
15 More than [any of] the kingdoms, shall she be abased, And shall lift herself up no more over the nations, —Yea I will make them too small to rule over the nations.
Plus que les autres royaumes, il sera humble, et il ne s’élèvera plus au-dessus des peuples. Je veux les diminuer pour qu’ils ne dominent plus les peuples.
16 So shall it become no more unto the house of Israel a security. Calling to mind iniquity, by their turning to follow them, - And they shall know that, I, am The Lord Yahweh.
Et il ne sera plus pour la maison d’Israël un sujet' de confiance, ravivant le souvenir de la faute commise quand ils se tournaient vers eux, et on saura alors que c’est moi le Seigneur Dieu."
17 And it came to pass in the twenty-seventh year in the first month on the first of the month, that the word of Yahweh came unto me saying:
II advint, dans la vingt-septième année, le premier du premier mois, que la parole de l’Eternel me fut adressée en ces termes:
18 Son of man Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, hath made his army undergo a long service against Tyre, Every head, hath been made bald, and, Every shoulder, worn bare, — But pay, hath he had none nor hath his army, out of Tyre, for the service wherewith he hath served against it.
"Fils de l’homme, Nabuchodonosor, roi de Babylone, a fait faire à son armée une rude besogne contre Tyr; toutes les têtes en sont devenues chauves, toutes les épaules sont meurtries. Or, lut ni son armée n’ont recueilli de salaire de Tyr pour la besogne qu’il a faite contre elle.
19 Therefore, Thus, saith My Lord Yahweh, Behold me! giving to Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, the land of Egypt, — And he shall carry off her multitude And capture her spoil And seize her prey, So shall she become pay for his army.
Donc, ainsi parle le Seigneur Dieu, voici, je vais livrer à Nabuchodonosor, roi de Babylone, le pays d’Egypte, pour qu’il puisse en emporter les richesses, en prendre le butin et le mettre au pillage: ce sera le salaire de son armée.
20 As a reward for his labour wherewith he hath served, have I given to him the land of Egypt, —in that they wrought for me, Declareth My Lord, Yahweh.
Comme prix de son labeur, qu’il a accompli contre Tyr, je lui donne le pays d’Egypte, parce qu’ils ont travaillé pour moi, dit le Seigneur Dieu.
21 In that day, will I cause to bud a horn for the house of Israel, And to thee, will I give an opening of mouth in their midst, So shall they know that, I, am Yahweh.
Ce jour-là, je relèverai la puissance de la maison d’Israël. Quant à toi, je justifierai pleinement tes paroles au milieu d’eux, et ils sauront que c’est moi l’Eternel."
