Ezekiel 22
1 And the word of Yahweh came unto me, saying:
La parole de Yahvé me fut adressée, en ces termes:
2 Thou therefore son of man, Wilt thou judge wilt thou judge the city of bloodshed; and cause her to know all her abominations?
Toi, fils de l'homme, jugeras-tu? Vas-tu juger la ville sanglante? Alors fais-lui connaître toutes ses abominations.
3 Thou shalt say then Thus saith My Lord. Yahweh, A city shedding blood in her own midst That her time might come, Therefore hath she been making manufactured gods for herself, to be defiled.
Tu diras: « Le Seigneur Yahvé dit: « Ville qui verse le sang en son sein, pour que son heure vienne, et qui se fait des idoles pour se souiller!
4 Because of the blood which thou hast shed, hast thou become guilty. And with the manufactured gods which thou hast made, hast thou defiled thyself, Thus hast thou brought near thy days, And hast come unto thy years, — For this cause, have I delivered thee As a reproach to the nations, And as a derision to all the lands.
Tu t'es rendue coupable par le sang que tu as versé, et tu t'es souillée par les idoles que tu as faites! Tu as fait approcher tes jours, et tu es arrivée au terme de tes années. C'est pourquoi j'ai fait de toi un objet d'opprobre pour les nations, un objet de moquerie pour tous les pays.
5 They who are near and they who are far off from thee shall shew themselves derisive over thee, — O thou of impure name, abounding in confusion!
Ceux qui sont près de toi et ceux qui sont loin de toi se moqueront de toi, infâme, plein de tumulte.
6 Lo! the princes of Israel, every man for his own arm, have they been in thee, For the sake of shedding blood.
"« Voici, les princes d'Israël, chacun selon sa puissance, ont été chez toi pour verser le sang.
7 Father and mother, have they despised in thee, To the sojourner, have they dealt with oppression in the midst of thee, — The fatherless and the widow, have they maltreated in thee:
Ils ont méprisé chez toi le père et la mère. Au milieu de toi, ils ont opprimé l'étranger. Chez toi, on a fait tort à l'orphelin et à la veuve.
8 My holy things, hast thou despised, - And my sabbaths, hast thou profaned:
Vous avez méprisé mes sanctuaires, Vous avez profané mes sabbats.
9 Slanders, have arisen in thee For the sake of shedding blood, - And unto the mountains, have they eaten in thee, Lewdness, have they practised in the midst of thee:
Il y a eu chez toi des calomniateurs pour répandre le sang. Ils ont mangé chez vous sur les montagnes. Ils se sont livrés à l'impudicité au milieu de toi.
10 A father’s shame hath been uncovered in thee, Her that was unclean in her removal, have they humbled in thee;
C'est chez toi qu'ils ont découvert la nudité de leurs pères, Et qu'ils ont humilié celle qui était dans l'ombre. Chez toi, on a humilié celle qui était impure dans son impureté.
11 And, one man, with the wife of his neighbour, hath wrought abomination, And another, hath defiled, his daughter-in-law, by shameful deed, — And another, his own sister daughter of his own father, hath humbled in thee:
L'un a commis une abomination avec la femme de son prochain, et l'autre a souillé sa belle-fille. Un autre, parmi vous, a humilié sa sœur, la fille de son père.
12 Bribes, have they accepted in thee, For the sake of shedding blood, -Interest and increase, hast thou accepted And thou hast overreached thy neighbour by oppression, And me, hast thou forgotten, Declareth My Lord Yahweh.
Chez toi, on a accepté des pots-de-vin pour verser le sang. Tu as pris des intérêts et de l'argent, tu t'es enrichi par l'oppression de ton prochain, et tu m'as oublié, dit le Seigneur Yahvé.
13 Lo! therefore I have smitten my hand, At thine unjust gain which thou hast made— And over thy bloodshed, which they have caused in thy midst.
"« Voici, j'ai frappé ma main sur le gain malhonnête que tu as fait, et sur le sang qui a été versé au milieu de toi.
14 Can thy heart endure or can thy hands be strong in the days when I am dealing with thee? I. Yahweh have spoken and will perform.
Ton cœur pourra-t-il résister, et tes mains seront-elles fortes, dans les jours où je traiterai avec toi? Moi, Yahvé, je l'ai dit, et je le ferai.
15 Therefore will I disperse thee among the nations, And scatter thee throughout the lands, — And will cause to cease thine impurity out of thee;
Je vous disperserai parmi les nations, je vous disperserai dans les pays. Je purgerai de vous vos souillures.
16 So shalt thou be profaned in thyself, before the eyes of nations, Thus shalt thou know that, I, am Yahweh.
Vous serez profanés en vous-même, aux yeux des nations. Alors vous saurez que je suis Yahvé. »'"
17 Then came the word of Yahweh unto me, saying:
La parole de Yahvé me fut adressée, en ces termes:
18 Son of man, The house of Israel hath become to me, dross, — They all are copper and tin and iron and lead in the midst of a furnace, The dross of silver, have they become.
« Fils d'homme, la maison d'Israël est devenue pour moi une scorie. Ils sont tous comme le bronze, l'étain, le fer et le plomb au milieu de la fournaise. Ils sont les scories de l'argent.
19 Therefore, Thus, saith My Lord Yahweh, Because ye all are become dross, Therefore, behold me! gathering you into the midst of Jerusalem:
C'est pourquoi le Seigneur Yahvé dit: « Parce que vous êtes tous devenus des déchets, voici que je vais vous rassembler au milieu de Jérusalem.
20 As they gather silver and copper and iron and lead and tin into the midst of a furnace, to blow upon it the fire to melt it, So, will I gather in mine anger and in mine indignation, and will let be and will melt you;
Comme on rassemble l'argent, le bronze, le fer, le plomb et l'étain au milieu de la fournaise, pour y souffler le feu et les faire fondre, ainsi je vous rassemblerai dans ma colère et dans ma fureur, je vous déposerai là et je vous ferai fondre.
21 Yea I will gather you together, and blow upon you, with the fire of my wrath, — And ye shall be melted in the midst thereof:
Oui, je vous rassemblerai, et je soufflerai sur vous avec le feu de ma colère, et vous serez fondus au milieu d'elle.
22 As silver is melted in he midst of a furnace, So, shall ye be melted in the midst thereof, — Then shall ye know that, I Yahweh, have poured out mine indignation upon you.
Comme l'argent se fond au milieu de la fournaise, ainsi vous serez fondus au milieu de celle-ci; et vous saurez que moi, Yahvé, j'ai déversé sur vous ma colère.'"
23 And the word of Yahweh came unto me, saying:
La parole de Yahvé me fut adressée, en ces termes:
24 Son of man, say to her. Thou, art a land, that is not to be rained upon, nor to receive fruitful showers, in the day of indignation.
« Fils d'homme, dis-lui: « Tu es un pays qui n'est pas purifié et sur lequel il ne pleut pas au jour de la colère ».
25 Because her princes in her midst are like a roaring lion rending prey, — Life, have they devoured Wealth and precious things, have they been wont to take, Her widows, have they multiplied in her midst.
Il y a en elle une conspiration de ses prophètes, comme un lion rugissant qui dévore une proie. Ils dévorent les âmes. Ils s'emparent des trésors et des objets précieux. Ils y ont fait beaucoup de veuves.
26 Her priests have done violence to my law And have profaned my holy things, Between the hallowed and the common, have they put no difference, And between the unclean and clean, have they not taught men to discern, - And from my sabbaths, have they hid their eyes, So that I have been profaned in their midst.
Ses prêtres ont violé ma loi et profané mes choses saintes. Ils n'ont pas fait la différence entre ce qui est saint et ce qui est commun, ils n'ont pas fait discerner ce qui est impur et ce qui est pur, et ils ont caché leurs yeux de mes sabbats. C'est ainsi que je suis profané au milieu d'eux.
27 Her rulers within her have been like wolves, rending prey, - In shedding blood In destroying lives, For the sake of getting dishonest gain.
Ses princes sont au dedans comme des loups qui dévorent leur proie, pour répandre le sang et détruire les âmes, afin d'en tirer un gain malhonnête.
28 And her prophets have coated it for them with whitewash, Seeing visions of falsehood And divining for them lies, Saying, Thus saith My Lord Yahweh, when Yahweh, hath not spoken.
Ses prophètes les ont enduits de chaux, ils ont eu de fausses visions, ils leur ont fait des prédictions mensongères, ils ont dit: « Le Seigneur Yahvé dit », alors que Yahvé n'a pas parlé.
29 The people of the land have exacted oppression, and seized plunder, - Even the afflicted and the needy, have they maltreated, And the sojourner have they oppressed without justice.
Les habitants du pays ont usé de l'oppression et exercé le brigandage. Oui, ils ont troublé le pauvre et l'indigent, et ils ont opprimé l'étranger à tort.
30 Then sought I from among them, a man Who could build up a wall And stand in the breach before me in behalf of the land So that I might not destroy her, — But I found none.
« J'ai cherché parmi eux un homme qui bâtirait la muraille et se tiendrait dans la brèche devant moi pour le pays, afin que je ne le détruise pas; mais je n'ai trouvé personne.
31 Therefore have I poured out upon them mine indignation, In the fire of mine outburst, have I consumed them, — Their way, upon their own head, have I placed Declareth, My Lord Yahweh.
C'est pourquoij'ai répandu sur eux ma fureur. Je les ai consumés par le feu de ma colère. Je fais retomber sur leur tête leur propre voie, dit le Seigneur Yahvé.
