Ezekiel 17
1 And the word of Yahweh came unto me saying:
Sứ điệp của Chúa Hằng Hữu lại đến với tôi:
2 Son of man Put thou forth a riddle And speak thou a parable, - Unto the house of Israel:
“Hỡi con người, hãy ra câu đố, kể ẩn dụ này cho dân tộc Ít-ra-ên.
3 So then thou shalt say, Thus, saith My Lord. Yahweh, — A great eagle, with large wings of long pinion, full of plumage, which had divers colours, came unto Lebanon, and took the highest branch of the cedar:
Hãy nói với chúng sứ điệp của Chúa Hằng Hữu Chí Cao: Một con đại bàng lớn với đôi cánh mạnh và lông dài, thân phủ bộ lông nhiều sắc, bay đến Li-ban. Nó ngậm ngọn cây bá hương
4 The crown of its young twigs, plucked he off, and brought it into a land of traffic, in a city of merchants, he set it.
và cắn đứt ngọn cây non cao nhất. Nó đem đến xứ có đầy thương gia. Nó trồng cây trong thành thương mãi.
5 So he took of the seed of the land, and planted it in a field for seed, - He took it near mighty waters, Like a willow-tree, he set it.
Nó cũng lấy một số hạt giống từ đất và đem trồng nơi đất màu mỡ. Nó trồng bên dòng nước như trồng cây liễu.
6 And it shot forth, and became a spreading vine of lowly stature, Its branches turning towards him, And its roots under him spread, - So it became a vine, And brought forth shoots, And sent forth boughs.
Cây đâm rễ lớn lên, trở thành cây nho sum suê, thấp là đà. Cành nó mọc hướng về đại bàng, và rễ nó mọc sâu xuống đất. Nó phát triển nhiều cành to mạnh và sinh ra nhiều chồi non.
7 And it came to pass that there was another great eagle, with large wings, and abundant plumage, - And lo! this vine, stretched its roots hungry towards him. And its branches, sent it forth unto him, That he might cause it to drink out of the beds where it was planted:
Nhưng có một con đại bàng khác bay đến, cánh mạnh và lông dài. Vì vậy cây nho xoay rễ và cành hướng về nó để được nó tưới nước,
8 In a goodly field by mighty waters, was it planted, - That it might bring forth boughs, and bear fruit, That it might become a splendid vine.
dù cây đã được trồng nơi đất tốt, có nhiều dòng nước, trở thành cây nho tốt, cành lớn và có trái nhiều.
9 Say thou, Thus, saith My Lord Yahweh, Shall it thrive? Its roots, will he not tear up? Its fruit, will he not cut off, that it wither? All the fresh leaves it hath caused to spring forth shall wither without a strong arm or many people, to pull it up by its roots.
Chúa Hằng Hữu Chí Cao phán tiếp cùng tôi: Cây nho cứ xanh tốt sao? Không! Ta sẽ nhổ nó lên, rễ và tất cả! Ta sẽ hái hết trái và bẻ cành cho nó khô héo và chết. Ta sẽ nhổ nó dễ dàng không cần phải có sức mạnh hay nhiều người.
10 Lo! therefore though [it remain] planted, shall it thrive? As soon as an east wind toucheth it, will it not utterly wither? On the beds where it sprang up, will it not wither?
Này, dù cây đã được trồng, nó có trở nên tươi tốt không? Không, nó chết khô khi gió đông thổi đến. Nó sẽ chết cùng với đất màu mỡ nơi luống đất mà nó đã lớn lên.”
11 Then came the word of Yahweh unto me saying:
Rồi Chúa Hằng Hữu lại truyền sứ điệp này cho tôi:
12 Say, I pray thee unto the perverse house, Know ye not what these things are? Say thou Lo! the King of Babylon entered Jerusalem And took her king and her princes, And brought them unto him in Babylon;
“Hãy nói với dân tộc Ít-ra-ên phản loạn: Các ngươi có biết ý nghĩa của ẩn dụ về hai con đại bàng không? Này, vua Ba-by-lôn đã đến Giê-ru-sa-lem, bắt vua cùng các hoàng tử đem về Ba-by-lôn.
13 Yea took of the seed royal And solemnised with him a covenant, And brought him into an oath, Also the mighty ones of the land, did he take.
Vua đã chọn một người trong hoàng tộc, lập giao ước với người, và người đã tuyên thệ. Các thủ lĩnh có quyền lực trong Ít-ra-ên cũng bị đem đi,
14 That, the kingdom might be abased, so as not to lift itself up, — By the keeping of his covenant, might be made to stand.
để cho Ít-ra-ên suy nhược, không sao nổi dậy. Chỉ có thể giữ hiệp ước với Ba-by-lôn mà Ít-ra-ên mới có thể tồn tại.
15 But he hath rebelled against him by sending his messengers to Egypt, that there should be given to him horses, and much people. Shall he thrive? Shall he escape that doeth these things? Shall he break a covenant and escape?
Tuy nhiên, người của hoàng tộc Ít-ra-ên đã phản loạn, gửi sứ giả sang Ai Cập cầu viện, xin quân đội và chiến mã. Có thể nào Ít-ra-ên xé bỏ hiệp ước như thế rồi được thịnh vượng sao?
16 As I live, Declareth My Lord Yahweh, Very! in the place where dwelleth the king that made him king, Whose oath he hath despised, And whose covenant he hath broken With him in the midst of Babylon, shall he die.
Không! Vì như Ta hằng sống, Chúa Hằng Hữu Chí Cao phán, vua Ít-ra-ên sẽ chết tại Ba-by-lôn, là nơi vua được tấn phong, chỗ vua ký giao ước rồi phản bội.
17 Neither shall Pharaoh with a great force. or with a large gathered host, work with him in the war, by casting up an earthwork and by building a siege-wall, —to the cuting off of many lives.
Pha-ra-ôn với đạo hùng binh sẽ thất bại trong việc cứu giúp Ít-ra-ên khi vua Ba-by-lôn vây hãm Giê-ru-sa-lem và giết hại nhiều người.
18 Seeing he hath despised an oath. by breaking a covenant—yea lo! hath given his hand and all these things hath done he shall not escape.
Vì vua Ít-ra-ên đã phản ước bội thề, đã cam kết rồi phản bội, nên sẽ không thoát nạn.
19 Therefore, Thus saith My Lord Yahweh As I live, Surely it is mine oath which he hath despised, and my covenant which he hath broken, Therefore will I bring it upon his own head:
Vậy, đây là điều Chúa Hằng Hữu Chí Cao phán: Thật như Ta hằng sống, Ta sẽ hình phạt nó vì nó đã hủy bỏ giao ước và phản bội lời thề mà nó đã lập trong Danh Ta.
20 And I will spread over him my net, And he shall be taken in my snare, And I will bring him into Babylon and will enter into judgment with him there, as to his treachery wherewith he hath been treacherous against me;
Ta sẽ tung lưới, làm nó mắc vào bẫy. Ta sẽ đưa nó sang Ba-by-lôn, để xét xử về việc phản bội Ta.
21 And all his fugitives throughout all his bands by the sword, shall fall, And they who are left, to every wind, shall be scattered, - [So shall ye know that I, Yahweh, have spoken!]
Cả đoàn quân trốn thoát sẽ bị giết trong trận chiến, những kẻ còn lại bị phân tán theo bốn hướng gió. Khi đó ngươi sẽ biết rằng Ta, Chúa Hằng Hữu, đã phán vậy!
22 Thus, saith My Lord Yahweh, Therefore will I, Myself, take of the highest branch of the lofty cedar and set it, — Of the crown of its young twigs, a tender one, will I pluck off, and I. myself will plant it upon a mountain high and terraced,
Đây là điều Chúa Hằng Hữu Chí Cao phán: Chính Ta cũng sẽ ngắt ngọn cây bá hương cao, và trồng nó trên đỉnh núi cao chót vót của Ít-ra-ên.
23 In the mountain of the height of Israel, will I plant it, And it shall put forth boughs And bear fruit, And become a majestic cedar, - And every bird of every wing shall dwell under it, In the shade of its branches, shall they dwell.
Nó sẽ nứt cành, ra trái, trở thành cây bá hương tuyệt mỹ. Các loài thú quây quần dưới bóng cây, các loài chim bay đậu trên cành.
24 So shall all the trees of the field know that I Yahweh Have laid low the high tree Have exalted the low tree, Have dried up the moist tree, And have caused to flourish the tree, that was dry, — I, Yahweh, have spoken, and performed.
Và tất cả các loại cây sẽ biết đó là Ta, Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đấng đã hạ cây cao, nâng cây thấp. Đó là Ta, Đấng làm khô cây xanh, và làm cho cây héo chết được tươi tốt trở lại. Ta, Chúa Hằng Hữu, đã phán, và Ta sẽ thực hiện điều Ta phán!”
