Ezekiel 15
1 And the word of Yahweh came unto me saying:
Și cuvântul DOMNULUI a venit la mine, spunând:
2 Son of man, What can the vine-tree be more than any other tree, —any branch which hath been found among the trees of the forest?
Fiu al omului, Cu ce este lemnul de viță mai mult decât alt lemn, [sau decât] o ramură care este printre copacii pădurii?
3 Shall there be taken from it wood, to be made into any work? Or will men take therefrom a peg, to hang thereon any vessel?
Va fi luat din el lemn pentru a face vreo lucrare? Sau vor lua oamenii din el un țăruș, pentru a atârna în el vreun vas?
4 Lo! into the fire, it is given up for fuel, — The two ends thereof, doth the fire devour, And the middle thereof is charred, Is it fit for any work?
Iată, este aruncat în foc ca hrană: focul mistuie ambele lui capete și mijlocul lui este ars. Este bun pentru [vreo] lucrare?
5 Lo! while it was yet whole, it could not be made into any work, — how much less when! the fire hath devoured it. and it is charred, can it still be made into any work?
Iată, când acesta era întreg, nu era bun pentru nicio lucrare; totuși, cu cât mai puțin va fi bun pentru [vreo] lucrare, după ce focul îl mistuie și este ars?
6 Therefore, Thus, saith My Lord Yahweh, As a vine-tree among the trees of the forest, which I have given up to the fire for fuel, so have I given up the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
De aceea astfel spune Domnul DUMNEZEU: Ca lemnul de viță printre copacii pădurii, pe care l-am dat focului ca hrană, astfel voi da [și] pe locuitorii Ierusalimului.
7 Therefore will I set my face against them, Out of one fire, have they come forth But another fire, shall devour them, —So shall ye know that, I, am Yahweh, by my setting my face against them;
Și îmi voi întoarce fața împotriva lor: ei vor ieși dintr-[un] foc, și [un alt] foc îi va mistui; și veți cunoaște că eu [sunt] DOMNUL, când îmi voi întoarce fața împotriva lor.
8 I will therefore give up the land as a desolation, —because they have committed treachery, Declareth My Lord., Yahweh.
Și voi face țara un pustiu, pentru că au făcut fărădelege, spune Domnul DUMNEZEU.
