Exodus 7
1 Then said Yahweh unto Moses—See! I have appointed thee to be God unto Pharaoh, —and, Aaron thy brother, shall be thy prophet!
Le Seigneur dit, alors à Moïse: Voilà que je t'ai fait comme le Dieu du Pharaon; Aaron, ton frère, sera ton prophète.
2 Thou, shalt speak all that which I may command thee, and, Aaron thy brother, shall speak unto Pharaoh, and he shall let the sons of Israel go out of his land.
Tu diras à celui-ci tout ce que je te prescris; et Aaron, ton frère, dira au Pharaon de renvoyer de sa contrée les fils d'Israël.
3 But, I, will suffer Pharaoh to harden his heart, —so will I multiply my signs and my wonders in the land of Egypt.
Cependant, j'endurcirai le cœur du Pharaon, puis, je multiplierai mes signes et mes prodiges en la terre d'Égypte.
4 And Pharaoh will not hearken unto you, so will I lay my hand on Egypt, —and bring forth my hosts—my people the sons of Israel out of the land of Egypt, with great judgments.
Le Pharaon ne vous écoutera pas, je ferai tomber ma main sur la terre d'Égypte, et, par ma puissance, j'en ferai sortir mon peuple, les fils d'Israël, après les avoir vengés d'une manière terrible.
5 And the Egyptians shall know that I, am Yahweh, when I have stretched forth my hand over Egypt, —and brought forth the sons of Israel out of their midst.
Et tous les Égyptiens connaîtront que je suis le Seigneur qui étends ma main sur la terre d'Égypte, et, du milieu de ce peuple, je ferai sortir les fils d'Israël.
6 And Moses and Aaron did [so], —as Yahweh commanded them, so, did they.
Et Moïse avec Aaron exécuta ce que le Seigneur leur avait prescrit; tous les deux obéirent.
7 Now Moses, was eighty years old, and, Aaron, eighty-three years old, —when they spake unto Pharaoh.
Moïse avait quatre-vingts ans, et Aaron, son frère, quatre-vingt-trois ans, lorsqu'ils parlèrent au Pharaon.
8 And Yahweh spake unto Moses and unto Aaron saying:
Or, le Seigneur avait dit à Moïse et à son frère.
9 When Pharaoh shall speak unto you saying, Shew for yourselves a wonder, then shalt thou say unto Aaron, Take thy staff, and cast it down before Pharaoh let it become a sea-serpent.
Si le Pharaon vous dit: Donnez-nous quelque signe, faites quelque prodige, tu diras à ton frère: Prends ta baguette, et jette-la à terre devant le Pharaon et ses serviteurs, et elle sera changée en serpent.
10 So Moses and Aaron went in unto Pharaoh, and did so as Yahweh had commanded, —and Aaron cast down his staff before Pharaoh and before his servants and it became a sea-serpent,
Moïse entra donc avec Aaron devant le Pharaon et ses serviteurs, et ils firent ce que leur avait prescrit le Seigneur; Aaron jeta sa baguette devant le Pharaon et ses serviteurs, et elle fut changée en serpent.
11 Then called Pharaoh also for the wise men and for the magicians, —and they too, the sacred scribes of Egypt with their secret arts, did in like manner;
Alors, le Pharaon convoqua les sages et les magiciens de l'Égypte, et les magiciens de l'Égypte firent comme Aaron, en s'aidant de leurs sortilèges.
12 yea they cast down each man his staff, and they became sea-serpents, —but Aaron’s staff swallowed up their staves.
Chacun d'eux jeta sa baguette, et les baguettes furent changées en serpents; mais la baguette d'Aaron dévora les leurs.
13 Then waxed bold the heart of Pharaoh, and he hearkened not unto them, —as spake Yahweh.
Et le cœur du Pharaon s'endurcit; il n'écouta pas ceux qui lui firent connaître les ordres du Seigneur.
14 Then said Yahweh unto Moses, Dull, is the heart of Pharaoh, —he hath refused to let the people go.
Et le Seigneur dit à Moïse: Le cœur du Pharaon s'est endurci; il s'obstine à ne point renvoyer le peuple.
15 Get thee unto Pharaoh in the morning—lo! he is coming out to the waters, therefore shalt thou station thyself to meet him on the bank of the river, —and the staff which was turned into a serpent, shalt thou take in thy hand.
Aborde le Pharaon dès le matin; il fait à cette heure sa promenade sur l'eau; tu l'attendras sur la rive du fleuve, et tu auras à la main la baguette qui a été changée en serpent.
16 Then shalt thou say unto him—Yahweh God of the Hebrews hath sent me unto thee saying, —Let my people go, that they may serve me in the desert, —And lo! thou hast not hearkened hitherto.
Et tu diras au Pharaon: Le Seigneur Dieu des Hébreux m'a envoyé à toi, disant: Renvoie mon peuple pour qu'il m'offre un sacrifice dans le désert; jusqu'à présent tu ne m’as point écouté.
17 Thus, saith Yahweh, Hereby, shalt thou know that, I, am Yahweh, —Lo! I, am smiting with the staff that is in my hand upon the waters that are in the river and they shall be turned to blood;
Or, voici ce que dit le Seigneur: À ce signe, tu connaîtras que je suis le Seigneur; voilà que je vais frapper de ma baguette l'eau du fleuve, et elle sera changée en sang.
18 and, the fish that is in the river shall die and the river shall be loathsome, —and the Egyptians, shall disdain, to drink water out of the river.
Les poissons du fleuve mourront, le fleuve lui-même deviendra fétide, et les Égyptiens ne pourront plus en boire les eaux.
19 And Yahweh said unto Moses, —Say unto Aaron—Take thy staff, and stretch forth thy hand over the waters of Egypt, over their streams over their rivers, and over their pools and over all their collections of water—that they may become blood, —so shall there be blood in all the land of Egypt, both in vessels of wood and in vessels of stone.
Le Seigneur dit encore à Moïse: Dis à ton frère Aaron: Prends à la main ta baguette, étends la main sur les eaux de l'Égypte, sur les bras du fleuve, sur les canaux, sur les marais, sur tout amas d'eau de la contrée; et les eaux seront changées en sang dans toute la terre d'Égypte, même dans les vases de bois et de pierre.
20 And Moses and Aaron, did so, as Yahweh commanded, and he lifted high the staff, and smote the waters which were in the river, before the eyes of Pharaoh, and before the eyes of his servants, —and all the waters which were in the river were turned to blood;
Moïse et Aaron firent ce que Dieu leur avait ordonné; celui-ci, ayant levé sa baguette, frappa l'eau du fleuve devant le Pharaon et ses serviteurs, et toute l'eau du fleuve fut changée en sang,
21 and the fish that was in the river, died and the river became loathsome, so that the Egyptians could not drink water out of the river, —thus came it to pass that blood was in all the land of Egypt.
Les poissons du fleuve moururent, le fleuve devint fétide, et les Égyptiens ne purent boire de ses eaux, et il y eut du sang, sur toute la terre d'Égypte.
22 And the sacred scribes of Egypt did in like manner with their secret arts, —so the heart of Pharaoh waxed bold and he hearkened not unto them, as spake Yahweh.
Les magiciens de l'Égypte firent encore comme Aaron, en s’aidant de leurs sortilèges, et le cœur du Pharaon s'endurcit; il n'écouta ni Moïse ni son frère, ainsi que l'avait dit le Seigneur.
23 Then Pharaoh, turned away, and entered into his house—neither applied he his heart, even to this.
Après cela, le Pharaon partit, il rentra en ses demeures, et il ne changea pas de pensées, même ayant vu ce prodige.
24 And all the Egyptians digged round about the river for water to drink, —for they could not drink of the water of the river.
Cependant, tous les Égyptiens creusèrent sur les bords du fleuve pour trouver de l'eau, mais ils ne purent boire de l'eau du fleuve.
25 And seven days were fulfilled, —after Yahweh had smitten the river.
Et sept jours se passèrent après que le Seigneur eut frappé le fleuve.
