< Exodus 19 >

1 In the third month, by the coming forth of the sons of Israel out of the land of Egypt, on this day, came they into the desert of Sinai:
Anadwo a Israelfo no tu fii Misraim no, nʼasram abiɛsa so na wɔde koduu Sinai sare so.
2 then was it that they brake up out of Rephidim and came into the desert of Sinai, and encamped in the desert, —yea Israel encamped there before the mountain.
Wotu fii Refidim no, wokoduu Sinai sare so na wɔbɔɔ atenase wɔ Sinai Bepɔw no ase.
3 And when Moses, had gone up unto God, then called Yahweh unto him out of the mountain saying, Thus, shalt thou say to the house of Jacob, And tell the sons of Israel:
Mose foro kɔɔ Onyankopɔn nkyɛn na Awurade frɛɛ no fii bepɔw no so kae se, “Ka saa nsɛm yi kyerɛ Yakob asefo Israelman se,
4 Ye, have seen what I did unto the Egyptians, —And how I bare you upon wings of eagles, And brought you in unto myself: —
‘Moahu nea meyɛɛ Misraimfo no ne ɔkwan a mefaa so soaa mo wɔ ɔkɔre ntaban so de mo baa me nkyɛn no.
5 Now, therefore, if ye will, indeed hearken, to my voice, And keep my covenant, Then shall ye be mine as a treasure beyond all the peoples, For, mine, is all the earth;
Sɛ mubetie me, na moadi mʼahyɛde so a, mobɛyɛ me nguankuw ketewa wɔ asase so aman nyinaa mu, efisɛ asase nyinaa yɛ me dea.
6 But, ye, shall be mine, As a kingdom of priests, And a holy nation. These, are the words, which thou shalt speak unto the sons of Israel.
Na mobɛyɛ asɔfo ahemman a ɛyɛ ɔman kronkron ama Onyankopɔn.’ Saa nsɛm yi na ka kyerɛ Israelfo no.”
7 Then came Moses, and called for the elders of the people, —and put before them all these words which Yahweh had commanded him.
Mose sian fii bepɔw no so bae no, ɔfrɛɛ mpanyimfo a wotuatua nnipa no ano nyinaa na ɔkaa asɛm a Awurade ahyɛ no sɛ ɔnka no kyerɛɛ wɔn.
8 And all the people responded together and said, All that Yahweh hath spoken, will we do. And Moses took back the words of the people, unto Yahweh.
Wɔtee asɛm no, wɔn nyinaa bɔ gyee so se, “Yɛbɛyɛ biribiara a Awurade aka sɛ yɛnyɛ no nyinaa.” Enti Mose kɔkaa nsɛm a nnipa no aka no kyerɛɛ Awurade.
9 Then said Yahweh unto Moses: Lo! I, am coming unto thee in the veiling of cloud, in order that the people may hear when I speak with thee, moreover also, that, in thee, they may trust to times age-abiding. Then told Moses the words of the people unto Yahweh.
Awurade ka kyerɛɛ Mose se, “Merebɛba wo nkyɛn sɛ omununkum sɛnea ɛbɛyɛ na me ne wo kasa a, nnipa no bɛte me nne na ɛnam so ama wɔagye wo adi daa.”
10 And Yahweh said unto Moses—Go unto the people, and thou shalt hallow them to-day, and to-morrow, —and they shall wash their clothes;
Na Awurade ka kyerɛɛ Mose se, “Sian kɔ nnipa no nkyɛn na kɔtew wɔn ho nnɛ ne ɔkyena. Ma wɔnhoro wɔn nneɛma nyinaa,
11 and shall be ready, by the third day, —for on the third day, will Yahweh come down in the sight of all the people upon Mount Sinai.
na siesie wo ho ma ɔkyena akyi efisɛ saa da no mesian aba Sinai Bepɔw no so a ɔmanfo nyinaa ani tua me.
12 So then thou shalt set bounds for the people round about saying, Take heed to yourselves—that ye go not up into the mountain, nor touch the boundary thereof, whosoever toucheth the mountain, shall, surely die.
Twitwa ahye sɛnea nnipa no rentra na ka kyerɛ wɔn se, ‘Monhwɛ yiye. Mommforo nkɔ bepɔw no atifi na monnkɔ nʼahye no nso so; obiara a obebu saa mmara yi so no, obewu.
13 No hand shall touch it but he shall be, surely stoned, or be, surely shot, whether beast or man, he shall not live, —When the ram’s horn soundeth, they themselves, shall come up within the mount,
Sɛ ɔyɛ onipa anaa aboa a, obiara nso ne mu. Na mmom, wobesiw no abo anaasɛ wɔbɛtotow agyan awowɔ no ama wawu.’ Montwe mo ho mfi bepɔw no ho koraa kosi sɛ torobɛnto bi bɛhyɛn denneennen ansa na moaforo akɔ bepɔw no so.”
14 Then Moses went down out of the mount, unto the people, —and hallowed the people, and they washed their clothes.
Mose sian fii bepɔw no so kɔɔ nnipa no nkyɛn kɔtew wɔn ho ma wɔhoroo wɔn nneɛma nyinaa.
15 And he said unto the people, Be ready, by the third day, —do not approach a woman.
Ɔka kyerɛɛ wɔn se, “Munsiesie mo ho, na aka nnansa na Onyankopɔn aba, enti obiara nnkɔ ɔbea ho.”
16 And it came to pass on the third day, when the morning had come, that there were thunderings and lightnings, and a heavy cloud upon the mount, and the sound of a horn, loud exceedingly, —and all the people who were in the camp trembled.
Nnansa so anɔpa pɛpɛɛpɛ, aprannaa a ano yɛ den bobɔɔ mu, maa anyinam pepae, maa omununkum kabii bi sian fii bepɔw no so. Torobɛnto bi hyɛn twee mu maa nnipa a wɔwɔ hɔ no nyinaa ho popoe.
17 And Moses brought forth the people, to meet God out of the camp, —and they stationed themselves in the lower part of the mount,
Mose dii nnipa no anim fi wɔn atenae hɔ sɛ wɔrekohyia Onyankopɔn. Wɔn nyinaa kɔboaa wɔn ho ano wɔ bepɔw no ase.
18 And Mount Sinai, smoked, all over, because Yahweh had come down thereon in fire, —and the smoke thereof went up as the smoke of a furnace, and all the mountain trembled exceedingly.
Wusiw kumɔnn kataa Sinai Bepɔw no so, efisɛ Awurade sian baa so sɛ ogya. Wusiw buaa wim nyinaa te sɛ nea efi fononoo mu, na asasewosow wosoo bepɔw no denneennen.
19 And as oft as the sound of the horn went on and became exceeding loud, Moses, spake and, God, responded to him with a voice.
Torobɛnto no hyɛn denneennen pa ara no, Mose kasae na Onyankopɔn nso de nne kɛse buae.
20 Thus came Yahweh down upon Mount Sinai unto the top of the mount, —and Yahweh called Moses unto the top of the mount, and Moses went up.
Enti Awurade baa Sinai Bepɔw no atifi, na ɔfrɛɛ Mose ma ɔforo kɔɔ ne nkyɛn
21 Then said Yahweh unto Moses, Go down, adjure the people, —lest they press through unto Yahweh to see, and so there fall from among them a multitude.
na Awurade ka kyerɛɛ Mose se, “San kɔ nnipa no nkyɛn na kɔbɔ wɔn kɔkɔ sɛ wɔnntra ahye no. Wɔnnyɛ wɔn adwene nso sɛ wɔreforo aba soro ha abɛhwɛ Awurade. Wɔn a wɔbɛyɛ saa no bewuwu.
22 Yea, even the priests who do approach unto Yahweh, must hallow themselves, —lest Yahweh break in upon them.
Asɔfo a wɔwɔ wɔn nnwuma so no mpo nnwira wɔn ho, anyɛ saa a, Awurade bɛsɛe wɔn.”
23 And Moses said unto Yahweh, The people cannot come up into Mount Sinai, —for, thou thyself, hast adjured us saying: Set bounds to the mountain and hallow it.
Mose nso buaa no se, “Nnipa no de, wɔremforo mma bepɔw no atifi, efisɛ wʼankasa bɔɔ wɔn kɔkɔ se, ‘Twitwa ahye fa bepɔw no ho na gyaw hɔ sɛ kronkronbea.’”
24 And Yahweh said unto him—Away, down, then shalt thou come up, thou and Aaron with thee, —but as for the priests and the people, let it not be that they press through to come up unto Yahweh lest he break in upon them.
Awurade ka kyerɛɛ Mose se, “Sian kɔ fam na kɔfa Aaron bra. Mma asɔfo no ne nnipa no ntra ahye no sɛ wɔreba ha. Wɔyɛ saa a, mɛsɛe wɔn.”
25 So Moses went down unto the people, —and said [these things] unto them.
Enti Mose sian kɔɔ nnipa no nkyɛn kɔka kyerɛɛ wɔn.
