Exodus 19
1 In the third month, by the coming forth of the sons of Israel out of the land of Egypt, on this day, came they into the desert of Sinai:
Ao terceiro mez da saida dos filhos de Israel da terra do Egypto, no mesmo dia vieram ao deserto de Sinai,
2 then was it that they brake up out of Rephidim and came into the desert of Sinai, and encamped in the desert, —yea Israel encamped there before the mountain.
Porque partiram de Rephidim e vieram ao deserto de Sinai, e acamparam-se no deserto: Israel pois ali acampou-se defronte do monte.
3 And when Moses, had gone up unto God, then called Yahweh unto him out of the mountain saying, Thus, shalt thou say to the house of Jacob, And tell the sons of Israel:
E subiu Moysés a Deus, e o Senhor o chamou do monte, dizendo: Assim fallarás á casa de Jacob, e annunciarás aos filhos de Israel:
4 Ye, have seen what I did unto the Egyptians, —And how I bare you upon wings of eagles, And brought you in unto myself: —
Vós tendes visto o que fiz aos egypcios, como vos levei sobre azas d'aguias, e vos trouxe a mim;
5 Now, therefore, if ye will, indeed hearken, to my voice, And keep my covenant, Then shall ye be mine as a treasure beyond all the peoples, For, mine, is all the earth;
Agora pois, se diligentemente ouvirdes a minha voz, e guardardes o meu concerto, então sereis a minha propriedade peculiar d'entre todos os povos: porque toda a terra é minha.
6 But, ye, shall be mine, As a kingdom of priests, And a holy nation. These, are the words, which thou shalt speak unto the sons of Israel.
E vós me sereis um reino sacerdotal e o povo sancto. Estas são as palavras que fallarás aos filhos de Israel.
7 Then came Moses, and called for the elders of the people, —and put before them all these words which Yahweh had commanded him.
E veiu Moysés, e chamou os anciãos do povo, e expoz diante d'elles todas estas palavras, que o Senhor lhe tinha ordenado.
8 And all the people responded together and said, All that Yahweh hath spoken, will we do. And Moses took back the words of the people, unto Yahweh.
Então todo o povo respondeu a uma voz, e disseram: Tudo o que o Senhor tem fallado, faremos. E relatou Moysés ao Senhor as palavras do povo.
9 Then said Yahweh unto Moses: Lo! I, am coming unto thee in the veiling of cloud, in order that the people may hear when I speak with thee, moreover also, that, in thee, they may trust to times age-abiding. Then told Moses the words of the people unto Yahweh.
E disse o Senhor a Moysés; Eis que eu virei a ti n'uma nuvem espessa, para que o povo ouça, fallando eu comtigo, e para que tambem te creiam eternamente. Porque Moysés tinha annunciado as palavras do seu povo ao Senhor.
10 And Yahweh said unto Moses—Go unto the people, and thou shalt hallow them to-day, and to-morrow, —and they shall wash their clothes;
Disse tambem o Senhor a Moysés: Vae ao povo, e sanctifica-os hoje e ámanhã, e lavem elles os seus vestidos,
11 and shall be ready, by the third day, —for on the third day, will Yahweh come down in the sight of all the people upon Mount Sinai.
E estejam promptos para o terceiro dia: porquanto no terceiro dia o Senhor descerá ante dos olhos de todo o povo sobre o monte de Sinai.
12 So then thou shalt set bounds for the people round about saying, Take heed to yourselves—that ye go not up into the mountain, nor touch the boundary thereof, whosoever toucheth the mountain, shall, surely die.
E marcarás limites ao povo em redor, dizendo: Guardae-vos que não subaes ao monte, nem toqueis o seu termo; todo aquelle, que tocar o monte, certamente morrerá.
13 No hand shall touch it but he shall be, surely stoned, or be, surely shot, whether beast or man, he shall not live, —When the ram’s horn soundeth, they themselves, shall come up within the mount,
Nenhuma mão tocará n'elle: porque certamente será apedrejado ou asseteado; quer seja animal, quer seja homem, não viverá; soando a buzina longamente, então subirão ao monte.
14 Then Moses went down out of the mount, unto the people, —and hallowed the people, and they washed their clothes.
Então Moysés desceu do monte ao povo, e sanctificou o povo; e lavaram os seus vestidos.
15 And he said unto the people, Be ready, by the third day, —do not approach a woman.
E disse ao povo: Estae promptos ao terceiro dia; e não chegueis a mulher.
16 And it came to pass on the third day, when the morning had come, that there were thunderings and lightnings, and a heavy cloud upon the mount, and the sound of a horn, loud exceedingly, —and all the people who were in the camp trembled.
E aconteceu ao terceiro dia, ao amanhecer, que houve trovões e relampagos sobre o monte, e uma espessa nuvem, e um sonido de buzina mui forte, de maneira que estremeceu todo o povo que estava no arraial.
17 And Moses brought forth the people, to meet God out of the camp, —and they stationed themselves in the lower part of the mount,
E Moysés levou o povo fóra do arraial ao encontro de Deus; e puzeram-se ao pé do monte.
18 And Mount Sinai, smoked, all over, because Yahweh had come down thereon in fire, —and the smoke thereof went up as the smoke of a furnace, and all the mountain trembled exceedingly.
E todo o monte de Sinai fumegava, porque o Senhor descera sobre elle em fogo: e o seu fumo subiu como fumo d'um forno, e todo o monte tremia grandemente.
19 And as oft as the sound of the horn went on and became exceeding loud, Moses, spake and, God, responded to him with a voice.
E o sonido da buzina ia esforçando-se em grande maneira: Moysés fallava, e Deus lhe respondia em voz alta.
20 Thus came Yahweh down upon Mount Sinai unto the top of the mount, —and Yahweh called Moses unto the top of the mount, and Moses went up.
E, descendo o Senhor sobre o monte de Sinai, sobre o cume do monte, chamou o Senhor a Moysés ao cume do monte; e Moysés subiu.
21 Then said Yahweh unto Moses, Go down, adjure the people, —lest they press through unto Yahweh to see, and so there fall from among them a multitude.
E disse o Senhor a Moysés: Desce, protesta ao povo que não trespassem o termo, para ver o Senhor, e muitos d'elles perecerem.
22 Yea, even the priests who do approach unto Yahweh, must hallow themselves, —lest Yahweh break in upon them.
E tambem os sacerdotes, que se chegam ao Senhor, se hão de sanctificar, para que o Senhor não se lance sobre elles.
23 And Moses said unto Yahweh, The people cannot come up into Mount Sinai, —for, thou thyself, hast adjured us saying: Set bounds to the mountain and hallow it.
Então disse Moysés ao Senhor: O povo não poderá subir ao monte de Sinai, porque tu nos tens protestado, dizendo: Marca termos ao monte, e sanctifica-o.
24 And Yahweh said unto him—Away, down, then shalt thou come up, thou and Aaron with thee, —but as for the priests and the people, let it not be that they press through to come up unto Yahweh lest he break in upon them.
E disse-lhe o Senhor: Vae, desce: depois subirás tu, e Aarão comtigo: os sacerdotes, porém, e o povo não trespassem o termo para subir ao Senhor, para que não se lance sobre elles.
25 So Moses went down unto the people, —and said [these things] unto them.
Então Moysés desceu ao povo, e disse-lhes isto.
