Exodus 17
1 And all the assembly of the sons of Israel set forward out of the desert of Sin, by their removings, at the bidding of Yahweh, —and encamped in Rephidim, and there was no water for the people to drink.
Mipanaw ang tibuok katilingban nga mga Israelita gikan sa kamingawan sa Sin, nagsunod sa gisugo ni Yahweh. Nagkampo sila sa Rafidim, apan walay tubig nga mainom sa katawhan.
2 And the people found fault with Moses, and said—Give us water, that we may drink. And Moses said to them, Why should ye find fault with me? Why should ye put Yahweh to the proof?
Busa gibasol sa katawhan si Moises tungod sa ilang kahimtang ug miingon, “Hatagi kami ug tubig aron imnon.” Miingon si Moises, “Nganong makiglalis man kamo kanako? Nganong sulayan man ninyo si Yahweh?”
3 So the people thirsted, there for water, and the people murmured against Moses, —and said—Wherefore is it that thou hast brought us up out of Egypt, to kill me and my sons and my cattle, with thirst?
Gipang-uhaw ug maayo ang katawhan, ug nagbagulbol sila batok kang Moises. Miingon sila, “Nganong gipagawas mo man kami gikan sa Ehipto? Aron ba nga mangamatay kami ug ang among mga anak ug ang among mga baka sa kauhaw?”
4 And Moses made outcry unto Yahweh saying, What am I to do, with this people? Yet a little, and they will stone me.
Unya mituaw si Moises kang Yahweh, “Unsa man ang angay nakong buhaton niining katawhan? Hapit na nila ako batoa.”
5 Then said Yahweh unto Moses—Pass over before the people, and take with thee some of the elders of Israel, —thy staff also wherewith thou didst smite the river, take thou in thy hand, so shalt thou go thy way.
Miingon si Yahweh kang Moises, “Pag-una sa katawhan, ug paubana kanimo ang pipila sa mga kadagkoan sa Israel. Dad-a ang imong sungkod nga imong gibunal sa tubig, ug lakaw.
6 Behold me! standing before thee, there upon the rock in Horeb, then shalt thou smite the rock and there shall come forth therefrom water, and the people shall drink. And Moses did so, in the sight of the elders of Israel.
Motindog ako sa imong atubangan didto sa bato sa Horeb, ug bunalan nimo ang bato. Moawas ang tubig gikan niini aron nga mainom sa katawhan.” Unya gibuhat kini ni Moises sa panan-aw sa mga kadagkoan sa Israel.
7 So he called the name of the place, Massah, and Meribah, —because of the fault-finding of the sons of Israel, and because of their putting Yahweh to the proof, saying, Is Yahweh in our midst or is he not?
Gitawag niya kana nga dapit nga Massa ug Meriba tungod kay nagbagulbol man ang mga Israelita, ug tungod kay gisulayan man nila ang Ginoo sa pag-ingon, “Uban ba gayod si Yahweh kanato o wala?”
8 Then came in Amalek, —and fought with Israel, in Rephidim.
Unya miabot ang mga kasundalohan sa Amalek nga katawhan ug gisulong ang Isarel didto sa Refidim.
9 And Moses said unto Joshua—Choose for us men, and go forth, fight with Amalek, —to-morrow, am, I, stationing myself upon the top of the hill, with the staff of God in my hand.
Busa miingon si Moises ngadto kang Josue, “Pagpili ug pipila ka mga kalalakin-an ug gawas kamo. Pakig-away sa Amalek. Ugma motindog ako didto sa tumoy sa bungtod dala ang sungkod sa Dios.”
10 So Joshua did as Moses had said to him, to fight with Amalek, —and Moses, Aaron and Hur, went up to the top of the hill.
Busa nakig-away si Josue kang Amalek sumala sa gisugo ni Moises, samtang mitungas si Moises, si Aaron, ug si Hur paingon sa tumoy sa bungtod.
11 And it shall be when Moses shall lift on high his hands, then shall Israel prevail, but when he shall let down his hands, then shall Amalek prevail.
Samtang giisa ni Moises ang iyang mga kamot, modaog ang mga Israelita; sa dihang ipahulay niya ang iyang mga kamot, magsugod pagdaog ang Amalek.
12 But, the hands of Moses, were weary, so they took a stone, and put under him, and he sat thereupon, —and, Aaron and Hur, upheld his hands—on this side, one and on that side, one, and so his hands became steady, until the going in of the sun.
Sa dihang bug-at na ang kamot ni Moises, nagkuha ug bato si Aaron ug si Hur ug gibutang kini ubos kaniya aron iyang lingkoran. Sa samang panahon, gipataas ni Aaron ug ni Hur ang iyang mga kamot, usa ka tawo sa iyang kilid ug ang lain usab sa pikas. Busa nagpabilin nga gipataas ang kamot ni Moises hangtod nga misalop ang adlaw.
13 So Joshua overthrew Amalek and his people, with the edge of the sword.
Busa nabuntog ni Josue ang katawhan sa Amalek pinaagi sa espada.
14 Then said Yahweh unto Moses—Write this as a remembrancer in a book, and rehearse it in the ears of Joshua—that I will, wipe out, the remembrance of Amalek, from under the heavens.
Miingon si Yahweh kang Moises, “Isulat kini sa libro ug basaha kini sa igdulongog ni Josue, tungod kay papason ko sa hingpit ang handomanan ni Amalek gikan sa ilalom sa kalangitan.”
15 And Moses built an altar, —and called the name thereof, Yahweh-nissi.
Unya nagtukod si Moises ug halaran ug gitawag niya kini ug, “Si Yahweh ang akong bandira.”
16 And he said—Because of a hand against the throne of Yah, Yahweh hath war with Amalek, —from generation to generation!
Miingon siya, “Kay giisa ang kamot ngadto sa trono ni Yahweh—kay si Yahweh ang makig-away kang Amalek gikan sa kaliwatan ngadto sa kaliwatan.”
