Exodus 16

1 Then moved they on from Elim, and all the assembly of the sons of Israel entered into the desert of Sin, which is between Elim and Sinai, on the fifteenth day of the second month, by their coming forth out of the land of Egypt.

Y partiendo de Elim, toda la congregación de los hijos de Israel vino al desierto de Sin, que es entre Elim y Sinaí: a los quince días del segundo mes después que salieron de la tierra de Egipto.

2 Then did all the assembly of the sons of Israel murmur against Moses and against Aaron in the desert;

Y toda la congregación de los hijos de Israel murmuró contra Moisés y Aarón en el desierto.

3 and the sons of Israel said unto them—Oh that we had died by the hand of Yahweh, in the land of Egypt, when we remained by the pot of flesh, when we did eat bread to the full, —for ye have brought us forth into this desert, to cause all this multitude to die by famine.

Y decíanles los hijos de Israel; ¡Oh, si hubiéramos muerto por mano de Jehová en la tierra de Egipto, cuando nos sentábamos a las ollas de las carnes, cuando comíamos pan a hartura! que nos habéis sacado a este desierto, para matar de hambre a toda esta multitud.

4 Then said Yahweh unto Moses, Behold me! raining down for you bread out of heaven, —and the people shall go out and gather the portion for a day, on its day, that I may prove them whether they will walk in my law, or not.

Y Jehová dijo a Moisés: He aquí, yo os lloveré del cielo pan; y el pueblo saldrá, y cogerá para cada un día; para que yo lo tiente, si anda en mi ley, o no.

5 And it shall come to pass on the sixth day, that they shall settle what they shall bring in, —and it shall be twice as much as they gather day by day.

Mas al sexto día aparejarán lo que han de meter, que será el doble de lo que solían coger cada día.

6 So Moses and Aaron said unto all the sons of Israel, —At eventide, then shall ye know that it was, Yahweh, who brought you forth, out of the land of Egypt;

Entonces dijo Moisés y Aarón a todos los hijos de Israel: A la tarde sabréis que Jehová os ha sacado de la tierra de Egipto:

7 and, in the morning, then shall ye see the glory of Yahweh, in that he hath heard your murmurings against Yahweh, —what then are, we, that ye should murmur against, us?

Y a la mañana veréis la gloria de Jehová, porque él ha oído vuestras murmuraciones contra Jehová: que nosotros ¿qué somos, para que vosotros murmuréis contra nosotros?

8 And Moses said—In that Yahweh giveth you in the evening flesh to eat, and bread in the morning, to the full, in that Yahweh heareth your murmurings wherewith ye are murmuring against him, what then are, we? Not against us, do ye murmur but against Yahweh.

Y dijo Moisés: Jehová os dará a la tarde carne para comer, y a la mañana pan a hartura: porque Jehová ha oído vuestras murmuraciones, con que habéis murmurado contra él: que nosotros ¿qué somos? vuestras murmuraciones no son contra nosotros, sino contra Jehová.

9 And Moses said unto Aaron, Say unto all the assembly of the sons of Israel, Draw near, before Yahweh, —for he hath heard your murmurings.

Y dijo Moisés a Aarón: Di a toda la congregación de los hijos de Israel: Acercáos en la presencia de Jehová, que él ha oído vuestras murmuraciones.

10 And it came to pass, when Aaron spake unto all the assembly of the sons of Israel, then turned they towards the desert, —and lo! the glory of Yahweh, had appeared in the cloud,

Y hablando Aarón a toda la congregación de los hijos de Israel, miraron hacia el desierto, y, he aquí, la gloria de Jehová que apareció en la nube.

11 Then spake Yahweh unto Moses—saying,

Y Jehová habló a Moisés, diciendo:

12 I have heard the murmurings of the sons of Israel, —speak unto them, saying—Between the two evenings, shall ye eat flesh, and in the morning, shall ye be filled with bread, —so shall ye know that I Yahweh am your God.

Yo he oído las murmuraciones de los hijos de Israel: háblales, diciendo: Entre las dos tardes comeréis carne, y mañana os hartaréis de pan, y sabréis que yo soy Jehová vuestro Dios.

13 And it came to pass, in the evening, that there came up quail, and covered the camp, —and in the morning was the outpouring of dew, round about the camp;

Y como se hizo tarde, subieron codornices, que cubrieron el real: y a la mañana descendió rocío al rededor del real.

14 and when the outpouring of dew went up, then lo! on the face of the desert, a thin flake, thin as hoar-frost on the earth,

Y como el rocío cesó de descender, he aquí, sobre la haz del desierto una cosa menuda, redonda, menuda como una helada sobre la tierra.

15 And when the sons of Israel saw it they said one to another—What is that? For they knew not what "that" was. Then said Moses unto them, "That" is the bread which Yahweh hath given you to eat.

Y viéndolo los hijos de Israel, dijeron cada uno a su compañero: Este es man: porque no sabían que era. Entonces Moisés les dijo: Este es el pan, que Jehová os da para comer.

16 This, is the thing which Yahweh hath commanded, Gather ye thereof, each man what he needeth for eating, —an omer a head, by the number of your souls, each man—for them who are in his tent, shall ye take.

Esto es lo que Jehová ha mandado: Cogeréis de él cada uno según pudiere comer: un gomer por cabeza conforme al número de vuestras personas: tomaréis cada uno para los que están en su tienda.

17 And the sons of Israel did so, —and gathered, [some] more, and [some] less;

Y los hijos de Israel lo hicieron así, que cogieron, unos más, otros menos.

18 and when they measured it with the omer, he who had gathered more had nothing over, and he who had gathered less had no lack: each man what he needed for eating, did they gather.

Y después medíanlo por gomer, y no sobraba al que había cogido mucho, ni faltaba al que había cogido poco: cada uno cogió conforme a lo que había de comer.

19 And Moses said unto them, —Let, no man leave thereof, until morning.

Y díjoles Moisés: Ninguno deje nada de ello para mañana.

20 But they hearkened not unto Moses, but certain men left thereof until morning, and it swarmed with worms and become loathsome, —and Moses was wroth with them.

Mas ellos no obedecieron a Moisés; y algunos dejaron de ello para otro día, y crió gusanos, y pudrióse; y enojóse contra ellos Moisés.

21 Thus then they gathered it morning by morning, each man what he needed for eating, and as soon as the sun waxed hot, so soon it melted.

Y cogíanlo cada mañana cada uno según lo que había de comer: y como el sol calentaba, derretíase.

22 And it came to pass on the sixth day, that they gathered food twice as much, two omers for each one, —so all the princes of the assembly came in, and told Moses.

En el sexto día cogieron doblada comida, dos gomeres para cada uno: y todos los príncipes de la congregación vinieron a Moisés, e hiciéronselo saber.

23 And he said unto them—That is what Yahweh spake. The observance of a holy sabbath to Yahweh, is to-morrow, —what ye would bake, bake and what ye would boil, boil, and all that is left over, put by you to keep until the morning.

Y él les dijo: Esto es lo que ha dicho Jehová: Mañana es el santo sábado del reposo de Jehová, lo que hubiereis de cocer, cocédlo: y lo que hubiereis de cocinar, cocinádlo: y todo lo que os sobrare, ponédlo en guarda para mañana.

24 So they put it by until the morning, as Moses had commanded, —and it gave no unpleasant odour, neither was there a worm, therein.

Y ellos lo guardaron hasta la mañana, de la manera que Moisés había mandado, y no se pudrió, ni hubo en él gusano.

25 Then said Moses—Eat ye it to-day, for a sabbath, is to-day, unto Yahweh, —to-day, ye shall not find it in the field.

Y dijo Moisés: Comédlo hoy, porque hoy es sábado de Jehová: hoy no lo hallaréis en el campo.

26 Six days, shall ye gather it, —but on the seventh day, a sabbath, it shall not be therein.

En los seis días lo cogeréis; y el séptimo día es sábado, en el cual no se hallará.

27 And it came to pass on the seventh day, that there went forth some of the people to gather, —but they found not.

Y aconteció que algunos del pueblosalieron en el séptimo día a coger, y no hallaron.

28 Then said Yahweh unto Moses, —How long have ye refused to keep my commandments and my laws?

Y Jehová dijo a Moisés; ¿Hasta cuando no queréis guardar mis mandamientos, y mis leyes?

29 See because Yahweh hath given you the sabbath, for this cause, is, he, giving you on the sixth day, food for two days, —abide ye every man in his place, let no man go forth from his dwelling, on the seventh day,

Mirád que Jehová os dio el sábado, y por eso os da en el sexto día pan para dos días. Estése pues cada uno en su estancia, y nadie salga de su lugar en el séptimo día.

30 So the people rested on the seventh day.

Así el pueblo reposó el séptimo día.

31 And the house of Israel called the name thereof Manna, —and the same, was like coriander seed white, and the taste thereof, like flat-cake with honey,

Y la casa de Israel la llamó man; y era como simiente de cilantro, blanco, y su sabor como de hojuelas con miel.

32 And Moses said—This, is the thing which Yahweh hath commanded, Fill an omer therefrom as a thing to be preserved to your generations, —that they may see the bread wherewith I fed you in the desert, when I brought you forth out of the land of Egypt.

Y dijo Moisés: Esto es lo que Jehová ha mandado: Henchirás un gomer de él para que se guarde para vuestros descendientes, que vean el pan que yo os di a comer en el desierto, cuando yo os saqué de la tierra de Egipto.

33 So Moses said unto Aaron—Take a single basket, and put therein an omer-full of manna, —and set it down before Yahweh, as a thing to be preserved to your generations.

Y dijo Moisés a Aarón: Toma un vaso, y pon en él un gomer lleno de man, y pónlo delante de Jehová, para que sea guardado para vuestros descendientes.

34 As Yahweh gave command unto Moses, so did Aaron set it down before the testimony, as a thing to be preserved,

Y Aarón lo puso delante del testimonio en guarda, como Jehová lo mandó a Moisés.

35 And, the sons of Israel did eat the manna forty years, until they entered into the land wherein they were to dwell, —the manna, they did eat until they entered into the bounds of the land of Canaan.

Así comieron los hijos de Israel man cuarenta años, hasta que entraron en la tierra habitada: man comieron hasta que llegaron al término de la tierra de Canaán.

36 Now, an omer, is, the tenth of the ephah.

Y un gomer es la décima parte del efa.
