Exodus 11
1 Then said Yahweh unto Moses—Yet one plague, will I bring in upon Pharaoh and upon Egypt, after that, he will let you go from hence, —when he doth let you go, he will, altogether drive, you out from hence.
L’Éternel dit à Moïse: Je ferai venir encore une plaie sur Pharaon et sur l’Égypte. Après cela, il vous laissera partir d’ici. Lorsqu’il vous laissera tout à fait aller, il vous chassera même d’ici.
2 Speak, I pray you, in the ears of the people, —and let them ask—every man of his neighbour, and every woman of her neighbour, articles of silver and articles of gold.
Parle au peuple, pour que chacun demande à son voisin et chacune à sa voisine des vases d’argent et des vases d’or.
3 And Yahweh gave the people favour, in the eyes of the Egyptians, —even the man Moses himself, was exceeding great in the land of Egypt, —in the eyes of Pharaoh’s servants and in the eyes of the people.
L’Éternel fit trouver grâce au peuple aux yeux des Égyptiens; Moïse lui-même était très considéré dans le pays d’Égypte, aux yeux des serviteurs de Pharaon et aux yeux du peuple.
4 And Moses said, Thus saith Yahweh, —About midnight, am, I, going forth in the midst of Egypt;
Moïse dit: Ainsi parle l’Éternel: Vers le milieu de la nuit, je passerai au travers de l’Égypte;
5 then shall every firstborn in the land of Egypt die, from the firstborn of Pharaoh who is sitting on his throne, unto the firstborn of the handmaid who is behind the two millstones, —and every firstborn of beasts;
et tous les premiers-nés mourront dans le pays d’Égypte, depuis le premier-né de Pharaon assis sur son trône, jusqu’au premier-né de la servante qui est derrière la meule, et jusqu’à tous les premiers-nés des animaux.
6 then shall there be a great outcry, in all the land of Egypt, —such, as never was and, such, as shall not be again.
Il y aura dans tout le pays d’Égypte de grands cris, tels qu’il n’y en a point eu et qu’il n’y en aura plus de semblables.
7 But against none of the sons of Israel, shall a dog sharpen his tongue, neither against man nor beast, —that ye may know that Yahweh maketh a difference between Egypt and Israel.
Mais parmi tous les enfants d’Israël, depuis les hommes jusqu’aux animaux, pas même un chien ne remuera sa langue, afin que vous sachiez quelle différence l’Éternel fait entre l’Égypte et Israël.
8 So shall all these thy servants come down unto me and bow themselves down to me saying—Go forth, thou and all the people who are in thy footsteps, and after that, will I go forth. And he went forth from Pharaoh, in a heat of anger.
Alors tous tes serviteurs que voici descendront vers moi et se prosterneront devant moi, en disant: Sors, toi et tout le peuple qui s’attache à tes pas! Après cela, je sortirai. Moïse sortit de chez Pharaon, dans une ardente colère.
9 And Yahweh had said unto Moses, Pharaoh will not hearken unto you, —that my wonders may be multiplied in the land of Egypt.
L’Éternel dit à Moïse: Pharaon ne vous écoutera point, afin que mes miracles se multiplient dans le pays d’Égypte.
10 So then, Moses and Aaron, did all these wonders before Pharaoh, —but Yahweh let Pharaoh’s heart wax bold, and he did not let the sons of Israel go out of his land.
Moïse et Aaron firent tous ces miracles devant Pharaon, l’Éternel endurcit le cœur de Pharaon, et Pharaon ne laissa point aller les enfants d’Israël hors de son pays.
