Exodus 11
1 Then said Yahweh unto Moses—Yet one plague, will I bring in upon Pharaoh and upon Egypt, after that, he will let you go from hence, —when he doth let you go, he will, altogether drive, you out from hence.
Yahweh dit à Moïse: « Je ferai venir encore une seule plaie sur Pharaon et sur l’Égypte et, après cela, il vous laissera partir d’ici; et lorsqu’il vous laissera aller tout à fait, il vous chassera même d’ici.
2 Speak, I pray you, in the ears of the people, —and let them ask—every man of his neighbour, and every woman of her neighbour, articles of silver and articles of gold.
Parle donc au peuple pour que chaque homme demande à son voisin et chaque femme à sa voisine des objets d’argent et des objets d’or. »
3 And Yahweh gave the people favour, in the eyes of the Egyptians, —even the man Moses himself, was exceeding great in the land of Egypt, —in the eyes of Pharaoh’s servants and in the eyes of the people.
Et Yahweh fit trouver faveur au peuple aux yeux des Égyptiens; Moïse lui-même était très considéré dans le pays d’Égypte aux yeux des serviteurs de Pharaon et aux yeux du peuple.
4 And Moses said, Thus saith Yahweh, —About midnight, am, I, going forth in the midst of Egypt;
Moïse dit: « Ainsi parle Yahweh: Au milieu de la nuit je passerai au travers de l’Égypte;
5 then shall every firstborn in the land of Egypt die, from the firstborn of Pharaoh who is sitting on his throne, unto the firstborn of the handmaid who is behind the two millstones, —and every firstborn of beasts;
et tout premier-né dans le pays d’Égypte mourra, depuis le premier-né de Pharaon assis sur son trône, jusqu’au premier-né de la servante qui est derrière la meule, et tout premier-né du bétail.
6 then shall there be a great outcry, in all the land of Egypt, —such, as never was and, such, as shall not be again.
Il y aura dans tout le pays d’Égypte une grande clameur, telle qu’il n’y en a pas eu et qu’il n’y en aura plus de semblable.
7 But against none of the sons of Israel, shall a dog sharpen his tongue, neither against man nor beast, —that ye may know that Yahweh maketh a difference between Egypt and Israel.
Mais parmi tous les enfants d’Israël, personne, depuis les hommes jusqu’aux animaux, pas même un chien, ne remuera sa langue, afin que vous sachiez quelle différence Yahweh fait entre l’Égypte et Israël.
8 So shall all these thy servants come down unto me and bow themselves down to me saying—Go forth, thou and all the people who are in thy footsteps, and after that, will I go forth. And he went forth from Pharaoh, in a heat of anger.
Alors tous tes serviteurs qui sont ici descendront vers moi et se prosterneront devant moi, en disant: Sors, toi et tout le peuple qui est à ta suite! Après quoi, je sortirai. » Et Moïse sortit de chez Pharaon en grande colère.
9 And Yahweh had said unto Moses, Pharaoh will not hearken unto you, —that my wonders may be multiplied in the land of Egypt.
Yahweh dit à Moïse: « Pharaon ne vous écoutera point, afin que mes prodiges se multiplient dans le pays d’Égypte. »
10 So then, Moses and Aaron, did all these wonders before Pharaoh, —but Yahweh let Pharaoh’s heart wax bold, and he did not let the sons of Israel go out of his land.
Moïse et Aaron opérèrent tous ces prodiges devant Pharaon, et Yahweh endurcit le cœur de Pharaon, et il ne laissa pas aller les enfants d’Israël hors de son pays.
