Ephesians 5
1 Become ye, therefore, imitators of God, as children beloved,
Bliven alltså Guds efterföljare, såsom hans älskade barn,
2 And walk in love—even as, the Christ also, loved you, and delivered himself up in your behalf, an offering and sacrifice unto God, for a fragrance of sweet smell.
och vandren i kärlek, såsom Kristus älskade eder och utgav sig själv för oss till en gåva och ett offer, "Gud till en välbehaglig lukt".
3 But, fornication, and all impurity, or covetousness, let it not be named among you—even as becometh saints;
Men otukt och orenhet, av vad slag det vara må, och girighet skolen I, såsom det anstår heliga, icke ens låta nämnas bland eder,
4 And shamelessness and foolish talking, or jesting, —which things are beneath you, —but, rather, giving of thanks;
ej heller ohöviskt väsende och dåraktigt tal och gyckel; sådant är otillbörligt. Låten fastmer tacksägelse höras.
5 For, this, ye know, if ye take note—that no fornicator, or impure or greedy person, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of the Christ and God.
Ty det bören I veta, och det insen I också själva, att ingen otuktig eller oren människa har arvedel i Kristi och Guds rike, ej heller någon girig, ty en sådan är en avgudadyrkare.
6 Let no one be deceiving you with empty words; for, because of these things, is coming the anger of God upon the sons of obstinacy:
Låten ingen bedraga eder med tomma ord; ty för sådana synder kommer Guds vrede över de ohörsamma.
7 Do not, then, become co-partners with them;
Haven alltså ingen del i sådant.
8 For ye were, at one time, darkness, but, now, are ye light in the Lord, —as children of light, be walking,
I voren ju förut mörker, men nu ären I ljus i Herren; vandren då såsom ljusets barn.
9 For, the fruit of the light, is in all goodness, and righteousness, and truth, —
Ty ljusets frukt består i allt vad godhet och rättfärdighet och sanning är.
10 Putting to the test what is well-pleasing unto the Lord;
Ja, vandren så, i det att I pröven vad som är välbehagligt för Herren.
11 And be not joining in fellowship in the unfruitful works of darkness, but, rather, be even administering reproof;
Och haven ingen delaktighet i mörkrets gärningar, som icke giva någon frukt, utan avslöjen dem fastmer.
12 For, of the secret things which are brought to pass by them, it is, shameful, even to speak!
Vad av sådana människor i hemlighet förövas, därom är det skamligt till och med att tala;
13 All things, however, when reproved by the light, become manifest, for, all that of itself maketh manifest, is, light;
men alltsammans bliver uppenbart, när det avslöjas genom ljuset. Ty varhelst något bliver uppenbart, där är ljus.
14 Wherefore it saith—Up! thou sleeper, and arise from among the dead, and the Christ will shine upon thee.
Därför heter det: "Vakna upp, du som sover, och stå upp ifrån de döda, så skall Kristus lysa fram för dig."
15 Be taking heed, therefore, exactly how ye are walking, —not as unwise, but as wise, —
Sen därför noga till, huru I vandren: att I vandren icke såsom ovisa människor, utan såsom visa;
16 Buying out for yourselves the opportunity, because, the days, are evil;
och tagen väl i akt vart lägligt tillfälle. Ty tiden är ond.
17 For this cause, do not become foolish, but have discernment as to what is the will of the Lord;
Varen alltså icke oförståndiga, utan förstån vad som är Herrens vilja.
18 And be not getting drunk with wine, in which is dissoluteness, but be getting filled in Spirit; —
Och dricken eder icke druckna av vin; ty därav kommer ett oskickligt leverne. Låten eder fastmer uppfyllas av ande,
19 Speaking to yourselves, with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs; singing, and striking the strings, with your heart unto the Lord;
och talen till varandra i psalmer och lovsånger och andliga visor, och sjungen och spelen till Herrens ära i edra hjärtan,
20 Giving thanks, always, for all things, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, unto your God and Father;
och tacken alltid Gud och Fadern för allt, i vår Herres, Jesu Kristi, namn.
21 Submitting yourselves one to another in reverence of Christ, —
Underordnen eder varandra i Kristi fruktan.
22 Ye wives, unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord,
I hustrur, underordnen eder edra män, såsom I underordnen eder Herren;
23 Because, a husband, is the head of his wife, as, the Christ also, is the head of the assembly, he, being the saviour of the body, —
ty en man är sin hustrus huvud, såsom Kristus är församlingens huvud, han som ock är denna sin kropps Frälsare.
24 Nevertheless, as, the assembly, submitteth herself unto the Christ, so, the wives, unto their husbands, in everything:
Ja, såsom församlingen underordnar sig Kristus, så skola ock hustrurna i allt underordna sig sina män.
25 Ye husbands, be loving your wives, even as, the Christ also, loved the assembly, and delivered, himself, up in her behalf,
I män, älsken edra hustrur, såsom Kristus har älskat församlingen och utgivit sig själv för henne
26 That, her, he might sanctify, having purified [her] with the bath of water, in declaration,
till att helga henne, genom att rena henne medelst vattnets bad, i kraft av ordet.
27 That, he, might present, unto himself, the assembly, all glorious, not having spot or wrinkle or any of such things, but that she should be holy and blameless;
Ty så ville han själv ställa fram församlingen inför sig i härlighet, utan fläck och skrynka och annat sådant; fastmer skulle hon vara helig och ostrafflig.
28 So, ought the husbands [also] to be loving their own wives, as their own bodies, —he that loveth his own wife, loveth himself,
På samma sätt äro männen pliktiga att älska sina hustrur, då dessa ju äro deras egna kroppar; den som älskar sin hustru, han älskar sig själv.
29 No one, in fact, ever yet hated, his own flesh, but nourisheth and cherisheth it, —even as, the Christ, the assembly,
Ingen har någonsin hatat sitt eget kött; i stället när och omhuldar man det, såsom Kristus gör med församlingen,
30 Because, members, are we of his body; —
eftersom vi äro lemmar av hans kropp.
31 For this cause, will a man leave his father and his mother, and will cleave unto his wife, and, they two, shall become, one flesh.
"Fördenskull skall en man övergiva sin fader och sin moder och hålla sig till sin hustru, och de tu skola varda ett kött." --
32 This sacred secret, is, great, —I, however, am speaking as to Christ and [as to] the assembly; —
Den hemlighet som ligger häri är stor; jag säger detta med tanke på Kristus och församlingen.
33 Nevertheless, ye also, do ye, individually, each man be so loving, his own wife, as himself, and, the wife, [see] that she reverence her husband.
Dock gäller också om eder att var och en skall älska sin hustru såsom sig själv; men hustrun å sin sida skall visa sin man vördnad.
