Deuteronomy 7
1 When Yahweh thy God shall bring thee into the land which thou art going in to possess, and shall clear away many nations from before thee—the Hittites and the Girgashites and the Amorites, and the Canaanites and the Perizzites, and the Hivites and the Jebusites—seven nations greater in number and stronger than thou;
১তুমি যে দেশ অধিকার করতে যাচ্ছ, সেই দেশে যখন তোমরা ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভু তোমাকে নিয়ে যাবেন ও তোমার সামনে থেকে অনেক জাতিকে, হিত্তীয়, গির্গাশীয়, ইমোরীয়, কনানীয়, পরিষীয়, হিব্বীয় ও যিবূষীয়, তোমার থেকে বড় ও শক্তিশালী এই সাত জাতিকে, তাড়িয়ে দেবেন;
2 and Yahweh thy God shall deliver them up before thee, and thou shalt smite them, thou shalt devote them to destruction, thou shalt not solemnise with them a covenant neither shalt thou shew them favour;
২এবং সদাপ্রভু তোমার ঈশ্বর যখন তোমাকে তাদের থেকে জয়ী করবেন যখন তুমি যুদ্ধে তাদের সম্মুখীন হবে এবং তুমি তাদেরকে আঘাত করবে, তখন তাদেরকে সম্পূর্ণভাবে ধ্বংস করবে; তাদের সঙ্গে কোনো চুক্তি করবে না বা তাদের প্রতি দয়া করবে না।
3 neither shalt thou intermarry with them, —thy daughter, shalt thou not give unto his son, nor his daughter, shalt thou take for thy son;
৩আর তাদের সঙ্গে বিয়ের সম্বন্ধ করবে না; তুমি তাদের ছেলেকে তোমার মেয়ে দেবে না ও আপন ছেলের জন্য তাদের মেয়েকে গ্রহণ করবে না।
4 for he will turn aside thy son from following me, and they will serve other gods, —so shall the anger of Yahweh kindle upon you, and he will destroy thee, speedily.
৪কারণ সে তোমার ছেলেকে আমার অনুসরণ থেকে ফেরাবে, আর তারা অন্য দেবতাদের সেবা করবে; তাই তোমাদের প্রতি সদাপ্রভুর রাগ জ্বলে উঠবে এবং তিনি তোমাকে তাড়াতাড়ি ধ্বংস করবেন।
5 Verily, thus, shall ye do unto them: Their altars, shall ye tear down, And their pillars, shall ye break in pieces, —And their sacred stems, shall ye hew down, And their carved images, shall ye burn up in the fire.
৫তোমরা তাদের প্রতি এরকম ব্যবহার করবে; তাদের যজ্ঞবেদি সব ভেঙে ফেলবে, তাদের থাম সব ভেঙে ফেলবে, তাদের আশেরা মূর্ত্তি সব কেটে ফেলবে এবং তাদের খোদাই করা প্রতিমা সব আগুনে পুড়িয়ে দেবে।
6 For a holy people, art thou unto Yahweh thy God: of thee, hath Yahweh thy God, made choice, that thou shouldest become his people as a treasure, above all the peoples that are on the face of the ground:
৬কারণ তুমি তোমার ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুর পবিত্র লোক; পৃথিবীতে যত লোক আছে, সে সবের মধ্যে তার নিজস্ব লোক করার জন্য তোমার ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভু তোমাকেই বেছেছেন।
7 not because ye were more in number than any of the peoples, did Yahweh become attached to you and make choice of you, —for, ye, were fewer than any of the peoples;
৭অন্য সব লোকের থেকে তোমরা সংখ্যায় বেশি, এই জন্য যে সদাপ্রভু তোমাদেরকে ভালবেসেছেন ও বেছে নিয়েছেন, তা না; কারণ সব লোকের মধ্যে তোমরা কয়েকজন ছিলে।
8 but because Yahweh loved you and because he would keep the oath which he sware unto your fathers, did Yahweh bring you forth with a firm hand, —and redeem thee out of the house of servants, out of the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.
৮কিন্তু সদাপ্রভু তোমাদেরকে ভালবাসেন এবং তোমাদের পূর্বপুরুষদের কাছে যে শপথ করেছেন, তা রক্ষা করেন, তার জন্যে সদাপ্রভু শক্তিশালী হাতের মাধ্যমে তোমাদেরকে বের করে এনেছেন এবং দাসের বাড়ি থেকে, মিশরের রাজা ফরৌণের হাত থেকে, তোমাদেরকে উদ্ধার করেছেন।
9 So then, thou must know that, Yahweh thy God, he, is God, —the faithful GOD, keeping his covenant and his lovingkindness with them that love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations
৯অতএব তুমি জানো যে, সদাপ্রভুই তোমার ঈশ্বর, তিনিই ঈশ্বর, তিনি বিশ্বস্ত ঈশ্বর, যারা তাঁকে ভালবাসে ও তাঁর আদেশ পালন করে, তাদের জন্য হাজার প্রজন্ম পর্যন্ত দয়া ও নিয়ম রক্ষা করেন।
10 but requiting them who hate him unto his face to destroy them, —he will not be slack towards him that hateth him, unto his face, will he requite him.
১০কিন্তু যারা তাঁকে ঘৃণা করে, তাদেরকে ধ্বংস করে তাদের সামনে প্রতিশোধ দেন; তিনি তাঁর বিদ্বেষীর ওপরে ক্ষমাশীল হন না, তাঁর সামনেই তাকে প্রতিশোধ দেন।
11 So shalt thou keep the commandment and the statutes and the regulations, which I am commanding thee to-day, to do them.
১১অতএব আমি আজ তোমাকে যে আদেশ ও যে সব বিধি ও ব্যবস্থা বলি, সে সব পালন করবে।
12 Then shall it come to pass if ye will hearken unto these regulations, and keep and do them, then will Yahweh thy God keep with thee the covenant and the lovingkindness which he sware unto thy fathers;
১২তোমরা যদি এই সব আদেশ শোনো এবং সব রক্ষা ও পালন কর, তবে তোমার ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভু তোমার পূর্বপুরুষদের কাছে যে নিয়ম ও দয়ার বিষয়ে শপথ করেছেন, তোমার পক্ষে তা রক্ষা করবেন
13 and will love thee, and bless thee and multiply thee, —and bless the fruit of thy body and the fruit of thy ground thy corn and thy new wine and thine oil the young of thy kine and the ewes of thy flock, upon the soil which he swart unto thy fathers to give unto thee.
১৩তিনি তোমাকে ভালবাসবেন, আশীর্বাদ করবেন ও বহুগুণ করবেন; আর তিনি যে দেশ তোমাকে দিতে তোমার পূর্বপুরুষদের কাছে শপথ করেছেন, সেই দেশে তোমার গর্ভের ফল, তোমার মাটির ফল, তোমার শস্য, তোমার আঙ্গুর রস, তোমার তেল, তোমার গরুদের শাবক ও তোমার মেষদের পাল, এই সব কিছুতে আশীর্বাদ করবেন।
14 Blessed shalt thou be beyond all the peoples, —there shall not be in thee a barren male or female, nor among thy cattle;
১৪সব লোকেদের থেকে তুমি আশীর্বাদযুক্ত হবে, তোমার মধ্যে কি তোমার পশুদের মধ্যে কোনো পুরুষ কিম্বা কোনো স্ত্রী নিঃসন্তান হবে না।
15 and Yahweh, will turn away, from thee, all disease, —and as for all the sore sicknesses of Egypt which thou knowest, he will not lay them upon thee, but will put them upon all who hate thee;
১৫আর সদাপ্রভু তোমার থেকে সব রোগ দূর করবেন; এবং মিশরীয়দের যে সকল খারাপ রোগ তুমি জানো, তা তোমাকে দেবেন না, কিন্তু তোমার সব ঘৃণাকারীকে দেবেন।
16 and thou shalt devour all the peoples whom, Yahweh thy God, is delivering up unto thee, thine eye shall not look with pity upon them, neither shalt thou serve their gods, for a snare, would it be unto thee.
১৬আর তোমার ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভু তোমার হাতে যে সব লোকদেরকে সমর্পণ করবেন, তুমি তাদেরকে গ্রাস করবে; তোমার চোখ তাদের প্রতি দয়া না করুক এবং তুমি তাদের দেবতাদের সেবা কর না, কারণ তা তোমার জন্য একটি ফাঁদ হবে।
17 Although thou mightest say in thy heart: More in number, are these nations than I, —how can, I dispossess them?
১৭যদি তুমি মনে মনে বল, “এই জাতিরা আমার থেকেও বহুসংখ্যক, আমি কেমন করে এদেরকে অধিকারহীন করব?”
18 thou must not be afraid of them, —thou must, remember, what Yahweh thy God did, unto Pharaoh and unto all Egypt:
১৮তুমি তাদেরকে ভয় পেও না; তোমার ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভু ফরৌণের ও সমস্ত মিশরের প্রতি যা করেছেন,
19 the great provings which thine own eyes saw, and the signs and the wonders and the firm hand and the stretched-out arm, wherewith Yahweh thy God brought thee forth, —so, will Yahweh thy God do unto all the peoples, before whom thou art afraid.
১৯আর মহা কষ্টভোগ যে সব তুমি নিজের চোখে দেখেছ এবং যে সব চিহ্ন, অদ্ভুত লক্ষণ এবং যে শক্তিশালী হাত ও ক্ষমতা প্রদর্শনের মাধ্যমে তোমার ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভু তোমাকে বের করে এনেছেন, সেই সব নিশ্চয়ই মনে রাখবে; তুমি যাদেরকে ভয় করছ, সেই সব লোকের প্রতি তোমার ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভু সেরকম করবেন।
20 Moreover also, the hornet, will Yahweh thy God send among them, —until they are destroyed who are left remaining, and who are hiding themselves from thy face.
২০তাছাড়া যারা অবশিষ্ট থেকে তোমার অস্তিত্ব থেকে নিজেদেরকে লুকাবে, যতক্ষণ তাদের বিনাশ না হয়, ততক্ষণ পর্যন্ত তোমার ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভু তাদের মধ্যে ভীমরুল পাঠাবেন।
21 Thou shalt not be affrighted at their presence, —for Yahweh thy God in thy midst is a Go great and to be revered.
২১তুমি তাদের থেকে ভীত হয়ো না, কারণ তোমার ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভু তোমার সঙ্গে, তিনি মহান ও ভয়ঙ্কর ঈশ্বর।
22 So will Yahweh thy God, clear away these nations from before thee little by little, —thou mayest not consume them at once, lest the wild beast of the field should multiply ever thee.
২২আর তোমার ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভু তোমার সামনে থেকে ঐ জাতিদেরকে কিছু কিছু করে তাড়িয়ে দেবেন; তুমি তাদেরকে একসঙ্গে ধ্বংস করতে পারবে না পাছে তোমার চারপাশে বন্যপশুরা বেড়ে ওঠে।
23 But Yahweh thy God will deliver them up before thee, —and discomfit them with a great discomfiture, until they are destroyed;
২৩কিন্তু তোমার ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভু তোমার সামনে তাদেরকে সমর্পণ করবেন এবং যে পর্যন্ত তারা ধ্বংস না হয়, ততক্ষণ মহাভ্রান্তিতে তাদেরকে ভ্রান্ত করবেন।
24 and will deliver their kings into thy hand and thou shalt destroy their name, from under the heavens, —not a man shall stand before thee, until thou hast destroyed them.
২৪আর তিনি তাদের রাজাদের তোমার অধিকারে দেবেন এবং তুমি আকাশমণ্ডলের নীচে থেকে তাদের নাম ধ্বংস করবে; যে পর্যন্ত তাদেরকে ধ্বংস না করবে, ততক্ষণ তোমার সামনে কেউ দাঁড়াতে পারবে না।
25 The carved images of their gods, shalt thou consume with fire, —thou shalt not covet the silver and gold upon them to take unto thee, lest thou be ensnared thereby; for the abomination of Yahweh thy God, it is;
২৫তোমরা তাদের খোদাই করা প্রতিমা সব আগুনে পুড়িয়ে দেবে; তুমি যেন ফাঁদে না পড়, এই জন্য তাদের গায়ের রূপা কি সোনা লোভ করবে না ও নিজের জন্য তা গ্রহণ করবে না, কারণ তা তোমার ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুর ঘৃণ্য বস্তু;
26 and thou shalt not bring an abomination into thy house, and so become devoted to destruction, like it, thou shalt, abhor, it, and thou shalt, loathe it, because a thing devoted to destruction, it is.
২৬আর তুমি ঘৃণ্য বস্তু নিজের গৃহে আনবে না এবং পূজা করবে না, ফলে তার মত বর্জিত হও; কিন্তু তা একদম ঘৃণা করবে ও অবজ্ঞা করবে, যেহেতু তা বাদ দেওয়া জিনিস।
