Deuteronomy 34
1 So then Moses went up, from the waste plains of Moab into Mount Nebo, the head of Pisgah, which is over against Jericho, —and Yahweh showed him all the land—even Gilead as far as Dan;
Så gikk Moses fra Moabs ødemarker op på Nebo-fjellet, på Pisgas topp, som ligger midt imot Jeriko; og Herren lot ham se ut over hele landet: Gilead like til Dan
2 and all Naphtali, and the land of Ephraim and Manasseh, —and all the land of Judah, as far as the hinder sea;
og hele Naftalis og Efra'ims og Manasses land og hele Juda land like til havet i vest
3 and the South, —and the circuit of the valley of Jericho, the city of palm trees as far as Zoar.
og sydlandet og Jordan-sletten, dalen ved Jeriko - Palmestaden - like til Soar.
4 And Yahweh said unto him—This, is the land which I sware to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, saying, Unto thy seed, will I give it. I have let thee see with thine own eyes, But thither, shalt thou not pass over.
Og Herren sa til ham: Dette er det land jeg har tilsvoret Abraham, Isak og Jakob idet jeg sa: Din ætt vil jeg gi det. Nu har jeg latt dig skue det med dine øine, men du skal ikke få komme inn i det.
5 So Moses, the servant of Yahweh, died there, in the land of Moab, at the bidding of Yahweh;
Så døde Moses, Herrens tjener, der i Moabs land efter Herrens ord.
6 and he buried him, in a valley in the land of Moab, over against Beth-peor, —but no man hath known his burying-place, until this day.
Og han begravde ham i dalen i Moabs land midt imot Bet-Peor, og ingen kjenner til denne dag hans grav.
7 Now, Moses, was a hundred and twenty years old, when he died, —his eye had not dimmed, nor had his freshness fled.
Moses var hundre og tyve år gammel da han døde; hans øie var ikke sløvet, og hans kraft var ikke veket bort.
8 And the sons of Israel bewailed Moses in the waste plains of Moab thirty days, —then were completed the wailing-days of the mourning for Moses.
Og Israels barn gråt over Moses på Moabs ødemarker i tretti dager; da var gråtens dager til ende, sorgen over Moses.
9 But, Joshua, son of Nun, was full of the spirit of wisdom, for Moses had laid his hands upon him, —so the sons of Israel hearkened unto him, and did, as Yahweh commanded Moses.
Og Josva, Nuns sønn, var fylt med visdoms ånd, for Moses hadde lagt sine hender på ham; og Israels barn var lydige mot ham og gjorde som Herren hadde befalt Moses.
10 And there arose not a prophet any more in Israel, like unto Moses, —whom Yahweh acknowledged, face to face;
Men det stod ikke mere frem nogen profet i Israel som Moses, han som Herren kjente åsyn til åsyn -
11 by all the signs and the wonders which Yahweh sent him to do in the land of Egypt, —unto Pharaoh and unto all his servants and unto all his land;
når en kommer i hu alle de tegn og under Herren hadde sendt ham til å gjøre i Egyptens land, med Farao og alle hans tjenere og hele hans land,
12 and by all the firm hand, and by all the great terror which Moses wrought in the sight of all Israel.
og hele den veldige kraft og alle de store, forferdelige gjerninger som Moses gjorde for hele Israels øine.
