Deuteronomy 30
1 And it shall come to pass, when all these things shall come in upon thee—the blessing and the curse, which I have set before thee, —and thou shalt bring them back unto thy heart among all the nations whither Yahweh thy God hath driven thee;
»Wenn nun alle diese Worte, der Segen und der Fluch, die ich dir vorgetragen habe, (einst) bei dir eintreffen werden und du es unter allen Völkern, unter die der HERR, dein Gott, dich (alsdann) verstoßen hat, dir zu Herzen nehmen wirst
2 and thou shalt return unto Yahweh thy God and shalt hearken unto his voice, according to all that I am commanding thee to-day, —thou and thy sons, with all thy heart, and with all thy soul,
und du samt deinen Kindern von ganzem Herzen und mit ganzer Seele zum HERRN, deinem Gott, zurückkehrst und seinen Weisungen in allem, was ich dir heute gebiete, gehorsam bist:
3 then will Yahweh thy God bring back thy captivity and have compassion upon thee, —and return and gather thee from among all the peoples whither Yahweh thy God hath scattered thee.
so wird der HERR, dein Gott, dein Geschick wenden und sich deiner erbarmen und wird dich wieder aus all den Völkern sammeln, unter die der HERR, dein Gott, dich zerstreut hat.
4 Though thou be driven out unto the utmost part of the heavens, from thence, will Yahweh thy God gather thee, and, from thence will he fetch thee;
Wenn deine verstoßenen (Söhne) sich auch am Ende des Himmels befinden sollten, wird der HERR, dein Gott, dich doch von dort sammeln und von dort dich zurückholen;
5 and Yahweh thy God will bring thee into the land which thy fathers possessed, and thou shalt possess it, —and he will do thee good and multiply thee beyond thy fathers.
und der HERR, dein Gott, wird dich in das Land zurückbringen, das deine Väter besessen hatten, damit du es wieder in Besitz nimmst, und er wird dich glücklicher und zahlreicher werden lassen, als deine Väter waren.
6 And Yahweh thy God will circumcise thy heart, and the heart of thy seed, —to love Yahweh thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul, that thou mayest live.
Und der HERR wird dir und deinen Nachkommen das Herz beschneiden, damit du den HERRN, deinen Gott, von ganzem Herzen und mit ganzer Seele liebst um deines Lebens willen;
7 And Yahweh thy God will put all these oaths upon thine enemies and upon them who hated thee who persecuted thee.
und der HERR, dein Gott, wird alle jene Flüche über deine Feinde und über deine Widersacher hereinbrechen lassen, die dich verfolgt haben.
8 But, thou, wilt return, and hearken unto the voice of Yahweh, —and wilt do all his commandments, which I am commanding thee, to-day,
Du aber wirst wieder den Weisungen des HERRN gehorchen und alle seine Gebote befolgen, die ich dir heute zur Pflicht mache.
9 And Yahweh thy God will make thee pre-eminent, in every work of thy hand—in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle and in the fruit of thy ground, for good, —for Yahweh will again rejoice over thee for good, as he rejoiced over thy fathers:
Alsdann wird der HERR, dein Gott, dir Überfluß an Glück bei allem, was du unternimmst, verleihen durch Kindersegen, durch reichen Viehbesitz und reichen Ertrag deiner Felder; denn der HERR wird zu deinem Heil wieder Freude an dir haben, wie er an deinen Vätern Freude gehabt hat,
10 if thou hearken unto the voice of Yahweh thy God, to keep his commandments, and his statutes, which are written in this scroll of the law, —if thou return unto Yahweh thy God, with all thy heart and with all thy soul.
wenn du nämlich den Weisungen des HERRN, deines Gottes, gehorchst, so daß du seine Gebote und Satzungen beobachtest, alles, was in diesem Gesetzbuch aufgezeichnet steht, wenn du dich von ganzem Herzen und mit ganzer Seele zum HERRN, deinem Gott, bekehrst.«
11 For as touching this commandment, which I am commanding thee to-day, it is not, too wonderful, for thee, neither is it far off.
»Denn dieses Gesetz, das ich dir heute gebiete, ist für dich nicht zu schwer und nicht unerreichbar;
12 It is, not in the heavens, —that thou shouldest say—Who shall ascend for us into the heavens that he may fetch it for us, that we may hear it, and do it?
es ist nicht im Himmel, daß du sagen müßtest: ›Wer wird für uns in den Himmel hinaufsteigen, um es uns zu holen und es uns zu verkündigen, damit wir es befolgen können?‹
13 Neither is it, over the sea, —that thou shouldest say, Who will pass over for us to the other side of the sea, that he may fetch it for us, that we may hear it, and do it?
Es ist auch nicht jenseits des Meeres, daß du sagen müßtest: ›Wer wird für uns über das Meer hinüberfahren, um es uns zu holen und es uns zu verkündigen, damit wir es befolgen können?‹
14 But, near unto thee, is the word, exceedingly, —in thy mouth and in thy heart, that thou mayest do it.
Nein, ganz nahe ist dir das Wort: in deinem Munde und in deinem Herzen hast du es, so daß du es befolgen kannst.«
15 See! I have set before thee, to-day, life and prosperity, —and death and calamity;
»Bedenke wohl: ich habe dir heute das Leben und das Glück und (andrerseits) den Tod und das Unglück zur Wahl vorgelegt.
16 for thou must keep the commandments of Yahweh thy God which I am commanding thee to-day, to love Yahweh thy God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commandments and his statutes, and his regulations, —so shalt thou live and multiply, and Yahweh thy God will bless thee, in the land which thou art entering to possess.
Was ich dir heute gebiete, ist: den HERRN, deinen Gott, zu lieben, auf seinen Wegen zu wandeln und seine Gebote, seine Satzungen und Verordnungen zu beobachten, damit du am Leben bleibst und zahlreich wirst und der HERR, dein Gott, dich segnet in dem Lande, in das du jetzt einziehst, um es in Besitz zu nehmen.
17 But, if thy heart shall turn away, and thou wilt, not hearken, —but shalt be drawn away, and shalt bow thyself down to other gods and serve them,
Wenn aber dein Herz sich abwendet und du nicht gehorsam bist, sondern dich dazu verführen läßt, andere Götter anzubeten und ihnen zu dienen,
18 I declare unto you, to-day, that ye shall perish, —ye shall not prolong your days, upon the soil which thou art passing over the Jordan to enter and possess.
so kündige ich euch heute schon an, daß ihr unfehlbar zugrunde gehen werdet: ihr werdet alsdann nicht lange in dem Lande wohnen bleiben, in das du jetzt über den Jordan ziehst, um es in Besitz zu nehmen.
19 I call to witness against you to-day, the heavens and the earth, that life and death, have I set before thee, the blessing and the curse, —therefore shouldest thou choose life, that thou mayest live, thou and thy seed;
Ich rufe heute den Himmel und die Erde zu Zeugen gegen euch an: das Leben und den Tod habe ich euch vorgelegt, den Segen und den Fluch. So wähle denn das Leben, damit du am Leben bleibst, du und deine Nachkommen,
20 to love Yahweh thy God, to hearken unto his voice, and to cleave unto him, —for, he, is thy life, and thy length of days, that thou mayest abide upon the soil which Yahweh sware to thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob, to give unto them.
indem du den HERRN, deinen Gott, liebst, seinen Weisungen gehorchst und fest an ihm hältst; denn davon hängt dein Leben und die Dauer deiner Tage ab, während deren du in dem Lande wohnst, dessen Verleihung der HERR deinen Vätern Abraham, Isaak und Jakob zugeschworen hat.«
