Deuteronomy 3
1 Then turned we and went up, the way of Bashan; and Og king of Bashan, came out to meet us, he, and all his people, to give battle at Edrei.
Sedan vände vi oss åt annat håll och drogo upp åt Basan till. Och Og, konungen i Basan, drog med allt sitt folk ut i strid mot oss, till Edrei.
2 And Yahweh said unto me: Do not fear him, for into thy hand, have I delivered him and all his people and his land, —so then thou shalt do unto him, as thou didst unto Sihon king of the Amorites who was dwelling in Heshbon.
Men HERREN sade till mig: »Frukta icke för honom, ty i din hand har jag givit honom och allt hans folk och honom på samma sätt som du gjorde med Sihon, amoréernas konung, som bodde i Hesbon.»
3 Then did Yahweh our God deliver into our hand, Og also, king of Bashan and all his people, —so we smote him until there was not left remaining to him a survivor.
Så gav HERREN, vår GUD, i vår hand också Og, konungen i Basan, och allt hans folk, och vi slogo honom och läto ingen av dem slippa undan.
4 And we captured all his cities, at that time, there was no fortress which we took not from them, —sixty cities all the region of Argob, the kingdom of Og in Bashan.
Och vi intogo då alla hans städer, ingen stad fanns, som vi icke togo ifrån dem: sextio städer, hela landsträckan Argob, Ogs rike i Basan.
5 All these, were fortified cities each with a high wall, folding gates and a bar, —besides country towns exceeding many.
Alla dessa städer voro befästa med höga murar, med portar och bommar. Därtill kom en stor mängd småstäder.
6 And we devoted them to destruction, doing unto them as we did unto Sihon king of Heshbon, —devoting to destruction every city of males, the women, and the little ones.
Och vi gåvo dem till spillo, likasom vi hade gjort med Sihon, konungen i Hesbon; hela den manliga stadsbefolkningen gåvo vi till spillo, så ock kvinnor och barn.
7 But all the cattle, and the spoil of the cities, made we our prey.
Men all boskapen och rovet från städerna togo vi såsom byte.
8 Thus did we at that time take the land out of the hand of the two kings of the Amorites (which was over the Jordan), —from the ravine of Arnon as far as Mount Hermon.
Från amoréernas två konungar, som härskade på andra sidan Jordan, togo vi alltså då deras land, från bäcken Arnon ända till berget Hermon
9 Sidonians, call Hermon Sirion, —but, the Amorites, call it Senir.
-- vilket av sidonierna kallas för Sirjon, men av amoréerna kallas för Senir --
10 All the cities of the table-land, and all Gilead, and all Bashan, —unto Salecah, and Edrei, —cities of the kingdom of Og, in Bashan.
alla städerna på slätten och hela Gilead och hela Basan, ända till Salka och Edrei, städerna i Ogs rike, i Basan.
11 For, only Og, king of Bashan was left remaining of the remnant of the giants, lo! his bedstead, was a bedstead of iron, is not, the same, in Rabbath of the sons of Ammon? nine cubits, the length thereof and four cubits, the breadth thereof, by the fore-arm of a man.
Ty Og, konungen i Basan, var den ende som fanns kvar av de sista rafaéerna; hans gravkista, gjord av basalt, finnes, såsom känt är, i Rabba i Ammons barns land; den är nio alnar lång och fyra alnar bred, alnen beräknad efter längden av en mans underarm.
12 And this land, took we in possession at that time, —from Aroer which is by the ravine of Arnon, and half the hill-country of Gilead and the cities thereof, gave I unto the Reubenites and unto the Gadites;
När vi då hade intagit detta land, gav jag den del därav, som sträcker sig från Aroer vid bäcken Arnon, samt hälften av Gileads bergsbygd med dess städer åt rubeniterna och gaditerna.
13 but the remainder of Gilead, and all Bashan the kingdom of Og, gave I unto the half tribe of Manasseh, —all the region of the Argob with all Bashan. The same, is called, A land of giants.
Återstoden av Gilead och hela Basan, Ogs rike, gav jag åt ena hälften av Manasse stam, hela landsträckan Argob, hela Basan; detta kallas rafaéernas land.
14 Jair, son of Manasseh, took all the region of Argob, as far as the boundary of the Geshurites, and the Maachathites, —and called them after his own name The Bashan of Havvoth-jair unto this day.
Jair, Manasses son, fick hela landsträckan Argob, ända till gesuréernas och maakatéernas område, och efter sitt eget namn kallade han landet -- nämligen Basan -- för Jairs byar, såsom det heter ännu i dag.
15 And, unto Machir, gave I Gilead;
Och åt Makir gav jag Gilead.
16 And unto the Reubenites and unto the Gadites, gave I—from Gilead even as far as the ravine of Arnon, the middle of the ravine and boundary, —even as far as the Jabbok ravine, the boundary of the sons of Ammon;
Och åt rubeniterna och gaditerna gav jag landet från Gilead ända till Arnons dal, till dalens mitt -- den utgjorde gränsen -- och till bäcken Jabbok, som är Ammons barns gräns,
17 the Waste Plain also and the Jordan and boundary, —from Chinnereth, even as far as the sea of the Waste Plain the Salt Sea, under the slopes of Pisgah, on the east.
vidare Hedmarken med Jordan, som utgör gränsen, från Kinneret ända till Pisgas sluttningar, på östra sidan.
18 So I commanded you, at that time saying, —Yahweh your God hath given unto you this land to possess it, armed, shall ye pass over before your brethren the sons of Israel all the sons of valour,
Och jag bjöd eder på den tiden och sade: »HERREN, eder Gud, har givit eder detta land till besittning. Men nu skolen alla I som ären stridbara män draga väpnade åstad i spetsen för edra bröder, Israels barn.
19 Only, your wives and your little ones and your cattle—I know that ye have much cattle—shall abide in your cities which I have given unto you;
Allenast edra hustrur och barn och eder boskap -- jag vet ju att I haven mycken boskap -- må stanna kvar i de städer som jag har givit eder,
20 until that Yahweh shall give rest unto your brethren, as well as you, so shall, they too, possess the land which, Yahweh your God, is giving unto them, over the Jordan, —then shall ye return every man unto his possession, which I have given unto you.
till dess att HERREN har låtit edra bröder komma till ro, såväl som eder, när också de hava tagit i besittning det land som HERREN, eder Gud, vill giva dem på andra sidan Jordan; sedan mån I vända tillbaka till de besittningar jag har givit eder, var och en till sin besittning.»
21 Joshua also, commanded I, at that time saying, —Thine are the eyes, that have seen all that Yahweh your God hath done unto these two kings, thus, will Yahweh do unto all the kingdoms whereunto thou, art passing over:
Och jag bjöd Josua på den tiden och sade: »Du har med egna ögon sett allt vad HERREN, eder Gud, har gjort med dessa två konungar. På samma sätt skall HERREN göra med alla riken där du drager fram.
22 ye shall not fear them, —for, Yahweh your God, he, it is that is fighting for you.
Frukten icke för dem, ty HERREN, eder Gud, skall själv strida för eder.»
23 Then sought I Yahweh at that time, for a favour saying:
Och på den tiden bad jag till HERREN och sade:
24 My Lord Yahweh, thou thyself, hast begun to shew thy servant thy greatness, and thy firm hand, —as to which, what GOD is there, in the heavens or in the earth, that can do according to thy doings, and according to thy mighty deeds?
»Herre, HERRE, du har begynt att låta sin tjänare se din storhet och din starka hand; ty vilken är den gud i himmelen eller på jorden, som kan göra sådana verk och sådana väldiga gärningar som du?
25 Let me pass over, I pray thee that I may see the good land that is over the Jordan, —this good mountain, and the Lebanon.
Så låt mig nu få gå ditöver och se det goda landet på andra sidan Jordan, det goda berglandet där och Libanon.»
26 But Yahweh had been provoked with me for your sakes, and hearkened not unto me, —and Yahweh said unto me, Enough for thee! do not add a word unto me further in this matter.
Men HERREN hade blivit förgrymmad på mig för eder skull och ville icke höra mig, utan sade till mig: »Låt det vara nog; tala icke vidare till mig om denna sak.
27 Ascend the top of the Pisgah, and lift up thine eyes—westward, and northward and southward and eastward—and see with thine own eyes, —for thou shalt not pass over this Jordan.
Stig nu upp på toppen av Pisga, och lyft upp dina ögon mot väster och norr och söder och öster, och se med dina ögon; ty över denna Jordan skall du icke komma.
28 But command thou Joshua and confirm him and embolden him, —for, he, shall pass over before this people, and, he shall cause them to inherit the land which thou shalt see.
Och insätt Josua i hans ämbete, och styrk honom att vara frimodig och oförfärad; ty det är han som skall gå ditöver i spetsen för detta folk, och det är han som skall utskifta åt dem såsom arv det land du ser.»
29 So we abode in the valley, over against Beth-peor.
Och så stannade vi i dalen mitt emot Bet-Peor.
