Deuteronomy 23
1 Neither he that hath been mutilated by crushing, nor he that hath had his privy member cut off, shall enter into the convocation of Yahweh.
No entrará en la congregación de Yavé el que tenga magullados los testículos o amputado su miembro viril.
2 A bastard shall not enter into the convocation of Yahweh, —even to the tenth generation, shall none of his enter into the convocation of Yahweh.
Ningún hijo ilegítimo entrará en la congregación de Yavé. No entrarán sus descendientes en la congregación de Yavé hasta la décima generación.
3 Neither an Ammonite nor a Moabite shall enter into the convocation of Yahweh, —even to the tenth generation, shall none that belong to them enter into the convocation of Yahweh, unto times age-abiding:
No entrará amonita ni moabita en la congregación de Yavé, ni aun en la décima generación. Nunca entrarán en la congregación de Yavé,
4 because they met you not with bread and water, in the way, when ye came forth out of Egypt, —but hired against thee Balaam son of Beor from Pethor of Mesopotamia, to curse thee.
porque cuando ustedes subieron de Egipto, no salieron al camino a recibirlos con pan y agua, y porque alquilaron contra ti a Balaam, hijo de Beor, de Petor, de Mesopotamia para maldecirte.
5 Nevertheless, Yahweh thy God consented not to hearken unto Balaam, but Yahweh thy God turned, for thee, the curse into a blessing, —because Yahweh thy God loved thee.
Pero Yavé tu ʼElohim no quiso escuchar a Balaam, sino Yavé tu ʼElohim te convirtió la maldición en bendición, porque Yavé tu ʼElohim te amaba.
6 Thou shalt not seek their peace nor their welfare, —all thy days, unto times age-abiding.
Nunca procurarás su paz ni su bienestar en todos tus días.
7 Thou shalt not abhor an Edomite, for thy brother, he is, —thou shalt not abhor an Egyptian, for a sojourner, becamest thou in his land;
No repugnarás al edomita, pues es tu hermano. No repugnarás al egipcio, porque fuiste extranjero en su tierra.
8 the sons who are born to them, of the third generation, may enter unto them in the convocation of Yahweh.
Los hijos que les nazcan podrán entrar en la congregación de Yavé en la tercera generación.
9 When thou goest forth into camp against thine enemies, then shalt thou beware of everything foul.
Cuando salgas a campaña contra tus enemigos, cuídate de toda cosa mala.
10 When there is in thy midst a man who is not clean through a mischance of the night, then shall he go forth unto the outside of the camp, he shall not come into the midst of the camp;
Si hay alguno entre ustedes que está impuro a causa de una emisión nocturna tiene que salir del campamento, no puede volver a entrar en él.
11 but it shall be, when the evening cometh on, he shall bathe himself in water, —and at the going in of the sun, he shall come into the midst of the camp.
Pero al llegar la noche, cuando se oculta el sol, se lavará con agua y podrá entrar al campamento.
12 And a place aside, shalt thou have, without the camp, —whither thou canst go forth abroad;
Tendrás un lugar fuera del campamento y saldrás allí,
13 and a blade, shalt thou have upon thy staff, —so shall it be, that when thou wouldest sit down outside, thou shalt dig therewith, and shalt turn back and cover that which hath passed from thee:
y entre tus utensilios tendrás una pala, antes de acuclillarte afuera, cavarás con ella, luego te volverás y cubrirás tu excremento.
14 for, Yahweh thy God, walketh to and fro in the midst of thy camp, to rescue thee, and to deliver up thine enemies before thee, so shall thy camps be holy, —and he shall see in thee no shameful thing, that he should turn away from following thee.
Porque Yavé tu ʼElohim anda en medio de tu campamento para librarte y entregar a tus enemigos delante de ti. Por tanto, tu campamento debe ser santo para que Él no vea en ti impureza, y se aparte de ti.
15 Thou shalt not deliver up a slave unto his lord, —one who maketh his escape unto thee, from his lord:
No entregarás a su ʼadón el esclavo que acude a ti al huir de él.
16 with thee, shall he remain in thy midst, in the place which he shall choose in any of thy gates where it seemeth good to him, —thou shalt not oppress him.
Vivirá contigo en medio de ti, en el lugar que escoja en alguna de tus ciudades que le parezca bien. No lo oprimirás.
17 There shall be no female devotee of the daughters of Israel, —neither shall there be, a male devotee, of the sons of Israel.
No habrá prostitutas sagradas ni prostitutos sagrados entre los hijos de Israel.
18 Thou shalt not bring the wages of an unchaste woman, or the hire of a dog, into the house of Yahweh thy God for any vow, —for, an abomination unto Yahweh thy God, are they both.
No llevarás como voto el salario de una prostituta ni de un prostituto a la Casa de Yavé tu ʼElohim, porque ambos son repugnancia a Yavé tu ʼElohim.
19 Thou shalt not lend on interest to thy brother, interest of silver, interest of food, —interest of any thing that can be lent on interest:
No cobrarás interés a tu hermano por dinero, por comida, ni por cualquier cosa por la cual se pueda cobrar interés.
20 to a foreigner, thou mayest lend on interest, but to thy brother, shalt thou not lend on interest, —that Yahweh thy God may bless thee, in everything where-unto thou puttest thy hand, upon the land which thou art entering to possess.
Al extranjero podrás cobrar interés, pero a tu hermano no le cobrarás, para que Yavé tu ʼElohim te bendiga en toda obra de tus manos en la tierra donde vas para tomar posesión de ella.
21 When thou shalt vow a vow unto Yahweh thy God, thou shalt not delay to make it good, —for Yahweh thy God would, require, it of thee, and it should be in thee sin.
Cuando hagas algún voto a Yavé tu ʼElohim, no tardes en cumplirlo, porque ciertamente Yavé tu ʼElohim te lo demandará y será pecado para ti.
22 But, if thou refrain from vowing, it shall not be in thee sin.
Pero si te abstienes de hacer un voto, esto no será pecado en ti.
23 That which goeth forth out of thy lips, thou must observe and do, —according as thou didst vow unto Yahweh thy God the free-will, offering of which thou didst speak with thy mouth.
Sin embargo lo que salga de tus labios, lo guardarás y lo cumplirás. Conforme prometiste a Yavé tu ʼElohim, pagarás la ofrenda voluntaria que prometiste con tu boca.
24 When thou enterest into the vineyard of thy neighbour, then mayest thou eat grapes at thy pleasure to thy fill, -but into thy vessel, shalt thou put none.
Cuando entres en la viña de tu prójimo, podrás comer las uvas que desees hasta saciarte, pero no las pondrás en tu cesta.
25 When thou enterest the standing corn of thy neighbour, thou mayest pluck off ears with thy hand, —but a sickle, shalt thou not wield against the standing corn of thy neighbour.
Cuando entres en el trigal de tu prójimo, podrás arrancar espigas con la mano, pero no meterás la hoz en el trigal de tu prójimo.
